  • Three years ago, on August 5th, 2019, the Modi government made a dramatic announcement of the removal of Article 370 which gave the state of Jammu and Kashmir a special status. The move not only stripped away the special status of the erstwhile state, but the Central Government also split the state into two Union Territories - calling them Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. So how is the decision on #article370 reshaping the region? Our team at #StratNewsGlobal thought it was time to reflect on these 36 months and conducted an on-ground audit of the impact of New Delhi’s most consequential policy initiative on the region.

    Fantastic documentary. Thank you! __/\__
This is a perspective of the J&K that I have not gotten from anywhere else. I appreciate the diverse perspective that you present in your compilation.
    Few observations:
    1. This is a region that has just come out of conflict. It will take several years for the economy to "deconflict". It is certainly not going to be overnight.
    2. One of the main reason for the stoppage of conflict in J&K, is a weak and unstable Pakistan. It is a moral imperative of the civilized world to continue to keep the pressure on them.
    3. The complete restitution of the Pandits should be the top priority of the entire nation of India. This is the only way for the muslims in J&K to achieve any reconciliation for the grievous atrocities committed by their community.
    4. The legislature in Ladakh needs to be given time and support to mature. And should be encouraged to become an self-sufficient and prosperous member of Bharath, without any baggage from J&K.

Excellent initiative! The choice of the words 'militancy' and 'exodus' at 6:44 though; instead of 'terrorism' and 'ethnic cleansing' or 'genocide', is intriguing. Is that an editorial policy?

After years, schools and colleges are functioning normally over the last three months. This topic wan not covered. Perhaps the documentary was made before that time. Excellent documentary. We want to see a remake in one year to track the progress. Perhaps the journalism could penetrate the population more--the impact on them personally. Preferably, the same set people should be tracked for the changes in their opinion.

  • @seshanm54

As with anything connected with Nitin Gokhale, the report overall is objective, sobering and thought-provoking. In hindsight it could not be otherwise. good documentary. please make one on the topic every year or two. this year j and ks budget was 1.15 lakh cr. although not unusually so, people of the region need to realise it was almost double of that of Uttarakhand(which is most comparable in terms of borders, landmass and population to Jammu and Kashmir), Himachal and still larger than Assam and many other states(leave alone the Seven Sisters which I believe need to see double the budget they currently have). Leave this pessimistic rona dhona attitude behind, and see the world around you change! as far as terrorists and other anti national and anti human elements go, I hope the govt goes after them with a vengeance.

I feel the makers painted a very bleak picture rather than a balanced view. The Kashmir part was given much weight than the Jammu part.
I can agree that far flung areas might haven't been reached as of now, but isn't that the case elsewhere in India. It would have helped if they would have also talked about the new initiatives.
Overall we can watch it with a pinch of salt. Surely a wasted effort clearly showing makers bias against the current government.

The makers of this video tried their best to paint a grim picture about the life in J&K post abrogation of Art. 370, but their own visuals tell the truth that Kashmir is changing for a lasting peace, progress and tranquility. My family members (an army colonel who served in Kashmir and his family) toured the length and breadth of J&K recently and were full of praise for the dramatic changes that have taken place. Record tourist inflow including foreigners. Hotels were booked two months in advance. Roads and tourists' spots were full of people and plenty of economic activity. But the video is a drab, roads are deserted, and mischievously showing clips and conversations taken years ago. My suggestion to the Centre is, please forget the Kashmiri Pandits. If they are happy where they are, let them live there and do not send them to Kashmir by force. No power in the world can provide security cover to each and every individual unless he is willing to take some risk. But the pandits be compensated for their losses. The status quo should continue at least for a decade, before elections are conducted. Under no circumstances, J&K should fall in the hands of Abdullahs and Muktis again, all in the name of democracy. Those who want to know the truth, please watch the video by WION news channel. czcams.com/video/5TF_gbeWz1k/video.html

This video & specially the part in which a person was talking about Jamaat, it's impact on future generations & the so called Intellectual Group of Pakistan which is trying to enter system by using our own system against our National Security- These 2 things need to be shown to higher political establishment whether it's Armed Forces or with National Security Council.
A 5 year planned strategy is required to consistently counter them on ground. It can include-
    1. Setting up more de-radicalisation cum de-addiction camps
    2. Government taking over the schools run by Jamaat in Kashmir (already done) & converting them into Kendriya Vidhylayas (do not transfer to State govt. otherwise NC & PDP type parties again institutionalise radicalism). These Kendriya Vidhyalayas should have proper surveillance to check whatever is being taught in classrooms is correct. Curriculum should include not only the correct history but also the sacrifices given by Armed Forces with a special focus on young people from Kashmir like Rifleman Aurungzeb & many others who sacrificed their lives for India by serving the forces. It will help inculcate Nationalistic Values.
    3. Ensuring proper background check of students being allowed into IAS, IPS Cadre.

      Referendum is non extinct
Still pok is retained there cannot be a Referendum
      It is the foolish nehru
Again what about the pandits reinstation
Article 370 was a temporary provision
      What before integration
Creation of Pakistan has closed the matter
Un did not intervene but nehru refered the matter to un
New delhi did not devide but the govt of India
