Legit sadge that Manhunt just randomly started on a level 3. The intro and tutorial are remarkably well done, and it's deep enough that missing info really kills the game.
You NEED to play the whole game. From the beginning I mean. For some reason you loaded into a mid-game save, so you're missing out on all the story, tutorials etc. Also make sure to install stuff like silent patch and maybe some other bug fixing mods, as the steam version is incredibly glitchy and you can ofter encounter issues that are gonna softlock you and stop from being able to make any progress.
I would love to see you continue this, it get REALLY messed up towards the end when you learn what the Pig Guy is. Another thing I should mention: In case you haven't figured it out, Starkweather (the director) is a snuff film maker, and is employing the various gangs of Carcer City to star as 'Actors' in his film starring James Cash (the player). Manhunt 2 is a more narrative driven game, but has the same mechanics.
@@markfergerson2145 not bashing you as I don't care if people say up vote or like but there will be many people out raged by the fact you said up vote instead of liked on youtube just a warning to change it before you get many people crying about it

Oh Manhunt games are a *nightmare* to run properly. Depending on your PC, you could get doors that don't open, or unkillable enemies, or stealth mechanics will refuse to work completely, or whatever else. So good on you for getting a patch immediately.
its nice to see you playing this :) although i will be honest - even though you addressed it 5 minutes it, it was still pretty painfull seeing you try to play this game basically starting at level 3 with no tutorial, prior knowledge or even context as to whats happening LMAO
@@sadhumanz And Postal 2 especially is such a raunchy, disgusting game. It's fun, of course, and I love the edgy commentary it has and the kind of middle finger approach it takes to the scared masses, but compared to Manhunt it's just so much more of a black sheep.

@MihaelBogic nah it was the victim who had it. The idiots who hate games made a bunch of shit up and the crime was all about drugs if I remember correctly and is the reason he killed his friend
Manhunt is honestly one of my favorite rockstar games franchise alongside GTA btw it also takes place in the same universe as GTA the game for me was really great in terms of atmosphere the violence the grittiness of the city and dark themes it plays throughout the game i still remember the final level so well god that piggsy level was something else... i would love to see you continue this and turn this into a series in the near future perhaps after your Resident Evil 7 playthrough is over
From how Rockstar currently works, I think I'd rather buy a remake/remaster of Manhunt then buy the new GTA coming out since they keep updating GTA Online. Unless they plan on shutting GTAO's servers for GTA6O? I feel like Rockstar has such lovely other titles that never get love, and get left in the dust, another Manhunt game would sell quite well.
Basically - Get Manhunt Fixer and patch the game - Wait for kills. There are three, Hasty (least points), Violent (mid points), Gruesome (most points, bonus if head explodes which you can still get even if you don't use an execution in later levels)
I think this game was 100% influence for Hotline Miami 1 and 2, both have their violence take center stage, almost as if keeping the player focused on it, as if to say "didnt you want this? Didnt you want to spill blood?" while what it shows you and what you do only serve to make you question why you wanted to do this when you started, because you sure as hell dont want to now, and even then, if you grow used to the violence, if you find fun in it, the game practically asks you why, why you enjoy this horrible thing youre doing when earlier it was graphic and disgusting to you. The games are meant as a commentary on violence, not a glorification of it
I can remember two instances where enemies will ask for mercy (or something like that) after being defeated, the first one doesn't need an introduction, it's The Last of Us Part 2, where every last enemy from the group will not die right away after the final hit but will lie on the ground in the puddle of blood crying and begging for mercy, everyone but Seraphites, they will just stand on their knees and pray, and not in the way of asking for your mercy no, in the way like "I don't care about your mercy, I soon will be with my god." But as in here, if you won't finish them, eventually they will stand up and try to end you, what is kinda weird considering the main theme of the game about forgiveness and that revenge is harmful for everyone. Second example is very little-known, there is game Stalker as you may know, and there is a mod Anomaly, and there is a mod pack GAMMA that makes Anomaly even more hardcore, realistic, survival, brutal, tactical and beautiful. And it also adds that there is a chance that wounded enemy at their death's door will cry for help, usually something hella heartbreaking like "Mom, mom please forgive me for everything, please save me mommy, ahhhhh....", I personally just want to relief these poor bastards from their sufferings as quickly as possible.
Mom bought us it randomly when me and my brother where 10 and 11, I think she still doesn't understand what games she bought us. I even wonder if a seller said:" you need game for boys, this will be a nice one"
Weirdly, as someone who’s loved playing the GTA games since Vice City, and played numerous horror games over the years… the Manhunt games were just plain boring to me. The story’s dull, and it’s all pretty much just felt like… brutal violence for the sake of brutal violence. It quickly got repetitive and tedious after the first area and I didn’t want to play it again.
I wont disagree with you on that fact, but the game was definitely made during a time period of gaming where developers were really testing the limits of their games, to see how far they could go, like Postal. But there definitely was the fact that they didn't really care about having the offensiveness make sense, they just through at around willy nilly Forgive me if I blabbered too long, but I just thought it was cool to share.
i wish i knew more about manhunt. my knowledge of the 90's edge focuses primarily on Postal. all of the freaky controversial games from back then are golden, though; even if they haven't aged too terribly well.
Lol, I had no idea Rockstar also put Sprunt in their games! That's a joke from the first season of Alan Partridge. I know this cos not only do I love Partridge I was doing the art for a game back in 98 where I also put a Sprunt machine in it xD
It's too bad the digital versions don't have the user's manual, as it's written like a catalog for the films you are taking part in during the game, along with other services given by members of the gangs you fight. And also, y'know, the fact that Rockstar screwed up so bad that the game is broken without patching on PC. That sucks too.
Please go through the first two levels, they are beautiful introductions and really sets up the game proper. Some fix mods like the ermaccer fixer could also help since R* decided to put a pirated version of manhunt on steam
I may just be mind broken but I never understood the big deal about the violence, even back in the day. I was already punching spines out of bodies in Mortal Kombat long before this. I guess most people might be put off more by the "realistic" touches like people begging for you not to finish them and stuff like that, but I don't know, to me that doesn't change anything, it's just tonal dressing and doesn't fundamentally change the content. The game really was just another randomly selected scapegoat for activists of the era just because it was fairly popular and became more visible than similarly violent games.
I dont get it either as there are many games that are more violent but remember this was relesed in 2003 and there where no games like that so people cryed about it but your just killing people in a VIDEO GAME so no clue why people cryed about it
