Bears won't come to your bait in the daylight? Here's some answers about why that may be the case. How to focus on keeping them from going nocturnal in the first place.
Good piece. My humble opinion, and it wasn't mentioned, but the effect of heat during the day is a factor. It's been in the 80's the first week of WI season this last week - very little movement by any bears in that heat during the warm daytime hours and the days/weeks leading up to opener - when it was cooler, there was daytime activity.
A lot of the large bears are naturally nocturnal - even in places where there is no hunting pressure. They are hard to get, which is why they grow to enormous sizes for their species.
It's hard to get them nocturnal bears to break that cycle. Here where my family bears hunt in Michigan, if its hitting at night then only chioce is to bring in our hounds to trail and tree it. Only done when we know its a big enough bear to take judging from pics and tracks.
wish we could bait bears here in NC like y'll do up there we can only use unprocessed bait (corn, peanuts) no oils or sprays either. I have a bait site deep in woods on private property with plenty of cover and still they are nocturnal.
Yeah they have you pretty well handicapped there. Could you put molasses on the corn or peanuts if it was unprocessed molasses? Ever tried sunflower seeds?
Big bears get that way for a reason, they are smart!! Worry about keeping the sows on the bait during the day and eventually the big boar will come in when she goes in heat.
We bait on private land with plastic drum stood upright with a 12” hole cut towards top! Make sure to bait around noon each day. We bait from a SXS and minutes after bait barrel is filled Bear are there! If they like the bait and you have cool wet swamp near by that Bear lay in close by bait they will show up in day unless you change baiting times and bump big bear off they will start coming around dark.
I do all my baiting between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm and have been lucky enough not to bump my bears, great advice Bernie thanks 👍

Well said! I mentioned that in a way by saying the temps that make us feel comfortable are the best times for bear movement.
Did nothing different and they still went nocturnal probably the corn and acorns. Great video lot of info!
Best bear channel on the World Wide Web!!!
I'm in Manitoba and when I pull up in my truck I see them crossing road towards my bait. It's like a dinner bell ! Good advice tho!
I have hunted Manitoba many, many times and it's a lot different there than it is here in a highly competitive area with heavy hunting pressure.
@@BowhuntingRoad very true - I'm in northern manitoba and I hunt bears that rarely even see a person

How about a solar motion light would this spook a bear enough to make him leave at night and come back in daylight for bait

Couldn't ya place bait ai night?
Then they come in day
Then come back in and take it out? Not sure what you're saying.
