Dismantling the Australian F1 Circuit 🏁

- One week after the race, see the barriers where Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, and Kevin Magnussen crashed, see the teams taking apart the circuit. What happens AFTER the Australian GP? How is the circuit removed from this public park?
Filmed in Albert Park, home of the Australian Formula One Grand Prix.
The Australian Formula One Grand Prix takes place annually in Melbourne, Australia. However, when the race is over, it's time to dismantle the various structures and facilities that were put in place for the event. This process involves a significant amount of planning and coordination to ensure that everything is safely and efficiently taken down.
The first step in dismantling the Australian Grand Prix involves removing all of the temporary fencing, barriers, and other structures that were used to create the race track and spectator areas. This is done using cranes, forklifts, and other heavy machinery. Then the grandstands and hospitality tents are taken down, along with any temporary lighting or power supplies and Albert Park is returned to its original state. All of this work must be done carefully and methodically to ensure that no damage is done to the park or surrounding areas, and that everything is properly packed up and transported away. Big respect to the teams who do this work every year so we can enjoy such a fun motorsport event.
Great work Stef. Love the F1 and I don't think anyone has done a "What it looks like when dismantling an F1 track'
Thanks Mark, it's a fascinating process so I'm glad I could share it. Thanks for watching.
“the f1?”
This sort of footage is never seen besides those who see it happen! Glad you've shown this
I live 3 hours south-west and have been going for years now, I like to hang our prior to a event around 3am to walk around and see everything with mostly no people. Love it!
Thanks Bevan, yes it’s lucky we can get this close to a major event before and after it takes place. Melbourne, and the people who do this work, do such a great job. Thanks for watching.

"The infamous turn 3. Remember the crash here?"
"Which crash?"
🤣👌
Also, hope you fly to Baku for the next race to give us another track build/pre race/dismantling tour 😅
Haha, thanks José. Not sure my production budget is that big but yeah would be great to document some other track builds for sure.
This is the behind the scenes content we need to see more of. It’s interesting to see how the park is reintroduced to the public after the GP (which should be reinstated as the first round of the season in my opinion)
Hadn't even realised the F1 track wasn't a permanent structure. Great to see. Thanks Steph
I really enjoyed watching the before video, then turning up to watch the race in person and then now that I’m back home watching the aftermath! Can’t begin to say how much I enjoyed these two videos.
Great stuff. Was good to bump into you after watching the build video the day before! Hope you enjoyed the race weekend!
Finally got around to watching the race last night and holy crap was that an adventure! Hopefully they keep that high speed DRS zone to keep it interesting again next year. Thanks for the great tear down video Stef!!! Now you'll have to do another flyover next year for a different perspective.
Love the other video, loved this one aswel! Awesome job Stef. As la Landscape Planner this gives me a lot of insight on how the park changes and it's amazing. Any chance you make another tour when it's full park mode again? Keep up the awesome work! Cheers from Argentina!
Cool videos, thank you for the before and after look at how an F1 street circuit comes and goes from Albert Park. Great work!
Love seeing the before and after videos. Great work and information too. ❤
Thanks Studley, glad you enjoyed it.
i have enjoyed your f1 videos so much the past few weeks from when they set it up to now dismantling it, another great watch!
Thanks Mali, really glad you've enjoyed them.
It was a ripper weekend. Way better organised amenities wise than last year; although there really needs to be two pontoons and another pedestrian bridge over the back part of the track to accommodate for the huge crowds. Was a massive bottleneck on Saturday when I was there. Great video mate!
Hands down fantastic content man, love it!
Thank you Skelly, I appreciate you saying that.
love this, i come from the old cirrus videos. good stuff brother
Great video - love the behind the scenes. Miss being in Melbourne during F1 time. When I worked on the Treasury reserve was great walking out for lunch and hearing the cars at the track.
Man, this is crazy, seems like building a street circuit and removing it costs more than maintaining a permanent circuit. Would want to, Is it so in reality?
And, fantastic video! Great effort to show us the behind the scenes of an street circuit grand prix! Must be pretty surreal to touch and feel the barriers where they crashed.
Brilliant video guys well done! 👏👏👏👏
Thank you for sharing!
Great content mate well done
Without a doubt some of the best content i've seen in a while! Keep it up
I appreciate that Carpy, thanks for commenting.
Nice content mate! Funny to see what happens ''behind the scenes''. Greetings from The Netherlands.
Brother such a good watch, easy to digest, informative and funny in parts please make more
Cheers Thomas, I love making videos like this so definitely more to come.
Shared both videos to a mate of mine in the UK he loved them. Thanks again Stef
Thanks Dave, I appreciate you sending them on.
This is great! I was hoping you would go back after the race!
Glad I could share it, cheers Brian.
Thanks for your video! I worked as a labourer for the F1 GP, last month was definitely the most exhausting month of my life! But I was so fun, I hope I'll be back next year !
this is just amazing! the dismanteling is even more exciting and mind boggling imho
Hi stef I was at the race in the Riccardo stand and I was on the track within 5 minutes of being done and I found carbon fiber from ocon and Gasly cars and I have photos of them and some of all the crash’s on turn 3 and 4
been following your aviation content for a while, didnt even know that you had this channel, love it
Thanks Angus, I love making videos like this but didn't have a place for them until now. Welcome to the new channel.
Great Video Mate - Impressed there was not a single mention of the new Bose A30's or a Garmin product. Amazing.... 🙂
Great video. You give off serious Russell Kane vibes!
Kinda thought the gravel traps are permanent. Seems a bit ridiculous to tear up the grass, fill it with gravel and after the race remove gravel and plant grass again.
@Stef's World Thanks for the dismantling of the track video, mate! Feels like a dream come true! Now I can die in peace.
Hello Stef! Great content, keep it up!
Hey Ayam, thanks very much. I appreciate you saying that.
Wow I've never seen this channel before but the content is amazing! Keep it up :)
Thanks for checking out my channel Sean, welcome to the community.
More F1 content like this would be awesome!
Thanks Khrego, I'll do my best.
Nice vid!
Nice, we had seats right behind you in the last shot. all the way up at the Fangio grandstand.
Great video as always, thanks for this. I am surprized that you do not have an e-bike?
Great video!
Thanks!
They take the grass up in patches! I had to make use of the accessibility shuttle on the Friday and it took me by some back paths, and there was a whole fenced off area with carefully taken-up grass sods from the gravel traps!
Great content Stef
Greetings from Austria
Hello back to Austria, thanks for watching Bozzna.
Thanks mate!
New subscriber. Great content 👍
Welcome to the channel Marc, thanks for subscribing.
It is such a sad feeling after a race, i have been to a few nascar races and camped in the infield, such an awkward feeling being there after the main event. The best part is the energy building up just for Monday to come and it be gone, so depressing to me. I know i had fun but then it so hard leaving
crazy how it changes, was there in 96, first gp, our office was up to turn 11
Great content. Greetings from Amsterdam
Thank you BeeTB1, hello back to The Netherlands 🇳🇱👋
I think that this just shows how crazy having street circuits is. The amount of time and money that it takes to build and then take apart the circuit is just insane. Presumably all of the gravel will now go to landfill.
I’m one of those who asked for this video. Thanks!
Good on your daughter for being such a knowledgeable fan!!
I want see a time-lapse the circuit build before the race 🤔
I always wondering how is it look like in after race condition on turn 4 .. is it going to be a parking lot ,, or something ,, i really really really want to see and know that.
Would be interesting to see a series like this but for a permanent track like Silverstone where things change for F1, but it's also always a track
This could be a Formula 1 Series by itself. How to setup and dismantle tracks!
New sub seen a video prior🎉
Thanks Angus, welcome to the channel
Man it really is a shame the Aus GP corp doesn't fix the grass ruined by the stands and amenities during the GP. Makes Albert Park look like crap for a few months afterwards until the grass recovers
Stef being the 🐐, never seen this stuff on CZcams ever, but here we go!
I'm lucky to see this most years being in my home town. Love sharing the great work they do for the GP here on CZcams. Thanks for watching.
A bit of smushed F1 car would be a pretty cool souvenir! It will be interesting to see this process unfold here in Chicago this summer for a NASCAR race. F1 seems like a better fit here, but oh well. I don't follow it (though the novelty of NASCAR drivers turning right might lure me in...) I'll see if there's a chance to do this on the ciruit after the race here!
Great content.
Really important that everyone watches it again and sees the reality of life in terms of trying to be 'green.... carbon neutral' etc. It's bloody impossible to run any kind of even like this without fleets and fleets of diesel run equipment. It will never change. This video is really important for highlighting that.
Thank you for the follow-up! Good video! Pity you couldn't get any carbon fiber as a souvenir😁
Race was crazy 🤣 I'm still devastated albon went off though
05:18 As a Norwegian, this one still hurts :,(
Great tour though.
I wonder where they store the circuit and what happens when Melbourne will be removed from the calendar in the future. Do they sell it on the internet? "For sale: Grand Prix Circuit (tarmac not included)"
After such a great effort to build the track each year, it is always sad to see it get taken down and put away for another year. 😥
It's a street circuit....Duh
Much preferred Adelaide to Melbourne for the AGP. Still do
I was marshalling at turn 1 & 2 all weekend. It’s strange to see it so empty.
Busy weekend for you at turns 1&2! Hope you had a good one Levi.
That sticker on your helmet is streets ahead ;)
I'm dont really follow f1 but I follow the supercars hope u enjoyed races 3 4 5 and 6 of the supercars championship at Albert Park
P.S keep up the good work
Why u gotta remind me of the Hauger Martins incident 😭
Can you do another vid after 1 month.
Before the Dutch GP last year a lot of people came to see the teams' trucks come in to start building up, they were ridiculed by comedy shows. They should see this video to see how interesting it actually is.
You had no chance of finding any carbon fibre. I was on track after the race at the MAG incident and there were people everywhere looking for souvenirs
Ha, yes I heard people were looking for souvenirs straight away. We checked for a while but yeah we were way too late to the scene!
I wonder where they store all that infrastructure?
I love to see this type of videos. The amount of work that must go into putting up all this infrastructure then a weak is so later and to take it all down again brilliant, ground pre-circuit but here comes the big butt next time. Formula One start moaning about how they want to be more eco-friendly spouting on about saving the dolphins and the icecaps just look at the amount of diesel and man has taken to do this and other temporary race circuits that they have around the world
You see a lot more at ground level than 10,000ft
The gravel trap has turned to leclerc ashes
Bring back the Adelaide Street Circuit for Formula E
The biggest question I have is where do they store all this stuff for the next 300 odd days till the next GP???
czcams.com/video/SlbMLso9b44/video.html
Dropping your bike was karma for blocking the path like that 😂
Haha, that's a fair call.
Most red flagged race ever 😂
They need Real NASCAR there at the RACE Track. 😀
Why do they take the seats away? What possible reason is there to leave the grandstand with no seats only to put them back on for next year's race? Hassle of having to transport & store 100,000 seats makes no sense.
The grandstand structures are entirely taken down. The seats come off first but then the metal scaffold structure is also entirely removed.
@@stef747 oh yeah, as it's a street circuit. How obvious. Thanks bud
2:20 gasly ??//
Next year if you guys wanna enter pit lane let me know I’ll make it happen 😎
I was the one who wrote the RIP Gasly and Ocon after the race ahahahaha
I tthought e-scooters where illegal in Melbourne 😉
They were, but the regulations changed on April 5th to allow privately owned escooters to be ridden on public roads for the next 6 months.
Well the grass and footy ovals are ruined for the next three months. The timeline they have printed around the park has three months to set up, two months to pack up and another month to fix up the grass. If the park is under construction for six months a year the event isn't really temporary and the park just feels like a large construction site. Why not build a real track out in Werribee?
Building a track able to host a Formula 1 Grand Prix is ungodly expensive.
Jealous you guys got to go :(
Couple of years ago then did all that work setting up for the Grand Prix then it was cancelled at the last minute,. Thanks covid !
Your daughter is sweet
Turn 3 is where Villeneuve murdered a marshall
oh shit! how many useless work and money wasting stuff they do! instead of developing something new in technology - they waste time and money to assemble\disassemble the track all time...what's wrong with this world???
What a nice girl you have there
Not to make me look like a pedophile although I'm still in my late teens.... If she is your daughter then. She is cute. (Just a compliment)
This is so ungodly wasteful.
