Borderlands 2: Patched E-Tech Snipers- do they still suck!?

- Without the community patch, E-Tech Snipers are pretty much garbage. They hit for less on headshots than regular snipers and consume twice as much ammo.
The patch removes their critical hit penalty and also removes the double ammo consumption. These are now crazy powerful, and have a nice piercing ability that allows for easier kills of certain enemies like Witch Doctors.
I think I will definitely need to farm for some E-Tech rifles on my no gibbed save.

Man of Low Moral Fiber will you test the other e-tech weapons, seeing how gigantic the snipers got buffed, I'm waiting to see how the rifles shotguns and pistols fare?
Static Juice, it's good for non-red text snipers, but anything with bullet split suffers, since it greatly increases how far away bullet split occurs (which is based on bullet travel time, not distance). It means you have a much longer sweet-spot distance with the Lyuda, you don't get as much damage out of the Godfinger, you can't sweet-spot most enemies with the Pimpernel, and it may negatively affect some others, don't know them all off the top of my head.

It cracks me up how most of the people who cover the community patch seemingly refuse to give up their grog-Harold Salvador builds and proceed to complain about how the community patch doesn't change anything.

The Dahl railer is so goood. They also can penetrate nomad shields
The snowman is always a decent way to farm them, and I know it sounds dumb but the golden chest pumps out etechs
As someone who farms snowman between OP levels on my legit saves, I can confirm this.
I guess the Digistruct Peak quest does two ETechs now. And that's a hella short walk to Tannis, so that's my for the moment.

Derchlands torgue dlc's vault drops alot of etech after you beat piston
Got mine from Crawmerax's chests, they're good chests and people seems to forget poor Craw, he just wants to be a badass pinata like his dad.

The Moloko on Gaige is pretty fun to mess around with. If you have a shock build, The Bouncing bullets combined with the ridiculous fire rate and the nth degree can make for some pretty ridiculous bullet bouncing shenanigans.
Farm the snowman. E-techs from the chests all the time

It's nice to see e-techs other than non Bandit plasma casters, Longbows or launchers being viable now. If e-tech returns in BL3, I hope they take influence from the patch, we don't want a repeat of a certain Dahl pistol, and a certain Bandit rifle.
This makes me happy to see. No one bother me for the next 20 minutes, or there will be consequences.

Found a couple of these while leveling my reborn Maya, absolutely love them. Only disadvantage is I'm not finding enough of them :-P
I do believe they also shoot through the physical shield that some of the bandits carry... If I'm not totally misremembering, I managed to crit them right through the shield which was awesome.

Good to see you uploading again. On a side note, holy guacamole the vladof e-tech rifle is broken for destroying large enemies such as constructors because the recoil is negated by the easy to hit large enemies.

You could also walk up to the power loaders, get them to do the hit animation and dodge it, then shoot the arm while it isn't spinning
but yeah, shooting through the blades is effective, I guess
Found one of those Moloko's the first time I played the game. I never used a Vladof sniper before. Hated the gun, especially the fire rate, and it turned me off to wanting a Vladof weapon after that. Worked only Jacobs snipers on Zer0 up to OP6. Thanks to your vids I have thankfully transcended that ignorance.
Farm etech on torgue dlc, the community patch made the vault drop lots of etech weapons after you beat piston
I absolutely adore the vladof etec's the pew pew sounds and the aesthetic is so cool to me
I feel these buffs make the E-Tech snipers a viable niche weapons for enemies with blocked critical spots (hyperion engineers, witch doctors, etc.). However, like Pete, it can't crit some enemies at all and this holds them back from being very good.
The pierce effect also don't knock goliath heads but crits instead. Plus because bore works by creating an other bullet with 2x dammage and they now pierce, it now duplicates the bullet with bore so you have an effective 300% dammage. But they seem to be harder to land crits on some ennemies like burners wich I used to test theses than some other rifles like sniders.
I have tried using e techs in the beatdown and concluded they cant crit burners. One thing especially weird I noticed is that burner enforcers (the dual wield charging enemies) lose their crit spot once their health is at a sliver. It's not just you.
But knocking helmets is the best.
For my mechromancer I always use E-Tech weapons. For mechromancer and Commando it does a lot of damage to higher-level enemies

I love the Dahl railer, but it's a shame that the burst shoots too fast to stack properly with CA. Otherwise it would be my JAM.
Would be cool if the ricochet had a chance to track and hit an enemy, so making bore more common, you could shoot the floor to activate bore too

Hmm. Might go for an etec sniper zero build. I've always thought they looked cool and wanted to use them.
In my opinion the best way to get the E-tech snipers is from the golden chest in Sanctuary because the E-tech rarity is technically purple and the golden chest only gives you purple
You should go over a sniper/melee Zer0 build again with the UCP if there's any notable changes!
Luke, have you ever considered doing some content on Borderlands 1? I would definitely watch. Even though the gameplay is worse, I feel your commentary and input on the game would make it enjoyable.

I think the Snowmans chest is a pretty good place for E-Techs. You get like one or two each time
so does that mean e-tech hyperion snipers will be the only viable hyperion snipers? Even with the invader patched it still seems like too much of an ammunition investment for above average damage output.

I think the Vladof E-Tech Snipers have some good DPS to them. They still eat through ammo, though.
These things are savage now and to think i sold loads farming that Snowman.

The vladof one damage the lyuda even with ce (without it's special effect of course).
Imagine for a second, Gemstone E techs, yep, that'd hurt being shot by a Diamond Hybridification.
ReaperOfTheNorthLegion basically double the fun, like a Hammer Beka, Hammer Buster damage plus Beka pellets, ouch.
to avoid having to find the guns you are showing in the videos you can add a star next to it to make it easier to find if that helps or not i wouldn't know ^_^
I have a slag vladof E-teck sniper for my krieg, the fire rate and clip is psychotic.

Honestly having a 2 round per shot sniper rifle would really suck just do the fact that in my game play as a sniper I can rarely ever find the ammo and when I'm actually near an ammo dump one of Marcus's machines for anybody who doesn't play he charges me through the roof for it

It was cool to notice B0re with them since you fire 1 shot and 2 projectiles would bounce off a wall

Its too bad they don't have the community patch for console I would love to use etech game especially sniper rifle. I'm a huge sniper fan and would love to use it plus it kinda look like a tracer round which can help me because I'm a terrible sniper.
I like the slag versions, only semi useable ones without the patch.

Remove your Hyperion e tech snipers scope on gibbed save editor and get a better version of the longbow with a straight fast moving projectile, I use it to create corrosive and shock versions of the longbow essentially!!
They deserves that buff.

I can only imagine how the patched Railers/Molokos/Hybridizations deal with Zer0s B0re skill. With penetrating beams already, would a B0re shot from an E-Tech sniper be an order of magnitude greater than a more traditional B0re shot from something like a Pimpernel, a Lyuda, a Skullmasher? Can't wait to find out!

Maliwan isn't inferior to Hyperion cause you're forgetting that splash damage gets added on top
What about the other E-Techs, like for SMGs and shotguns? Do they still consume 2 ammo?

Luke I have a question why does it seem like console enemies have way more health at op8 than pc enemies? I have played both pc and console and I have noticed a significant difference.

Man of Low Moral Fiber been playing it for years now. Fantastic game with such repeatability. Community patch is a nice breath of fresh air.
Keeping us busy while we wait for bl3.
You should check out the mod that limits the Dahl snipers to 1 round per trigger pull and eliminates the burst fire for more control over your accuracy and ammo pool.

To be fair the e-tech doesnt have a +125% crit damnage like the lyuda. So of course lyuda will get a better boost for crits
