Borderlands 2: Buffed Skullmasher- How strong is it?!

- The Skullmasher is the Legendary Jakobs Sniper rifle that is available as from Son of Mothrakk and Rakkanoth in the third campaign DLC- Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt.
It is the only sniper that has a shotgun like pellet count, and in Borderlands The Pre-Sequel, it received an extra pellet. The community patch brings that extra pellet to Borderlands 2. This makes an already strong sniper more comparable to the top tier snipers in the game.
This weapon greatly benefits from skills like Precision and Velocity. The boost to Critical Ascension has also helped the weapon significantly.

I wonder if there are golden weapons in this game you can keep them as a treasure guns

Yall acting like i will only use the damn thing exclusivly just because i have it. Fiber has the legendary hunter but does he use it? Or the killer class mod? Having something does not mean you center your entire build around it. You guys are fuck wits to assume otherwise, and i hope you dont actually do that. The only build that should use exclusively one weapon is sniper or melee zer0, tediore axton, or storm gaige.

Just out of curiosity, do you think you could also spec into velocity as well to increase bullet spead and further tighten spread? Not that it would effect the fun too much as with the points in percision its already very accurate. Im only asking because, i cant get the drop to occur with the dang son of mothrakk without it phasing through the floor or flying away

I got this thing on my sniper zer0 from the tinder train and with the bee it rocks but with an antagonist or something not so much but it still works i really do recommend it

Just a note. If you're going to farm the Skullmasher in Scylla's Grove it can be quite difficult to see if it dropped in the water from a distance. As dangerous as it can be you'll most likely have to walk over to the drop area to positively glimpse the loot beacon. Also there's no need to kill the normal spawn of rakk it'll just waste time. They don't start attacking you until you're on the top ridge with the fireworks in front of you. Aside from that I'm sure you'll do fine. I got a Skookum with a Dahl grip and stock. Hope you get a perfect one!
I found out the other day a Maya with 11/5 Mind's Eye makes the Skullmasher very OpieOP. Same observation about heavy recoil too, especially with the vladof stock on my Skullmasher.
P.S. The x6 pellet count is from the OG Borderlands 1 Skullmasher, which is quite similarly OP.
On the subject of the Skullmasher, I got an almost perfect one to drop for my Aurelia. Jakobs grip, Dahl stock. The only problems (though minor) are that I got the crit prefix (which is still a good one, but I prefer damage) and a Hyperion scope instead of a Dahl scope.
I thought the buff would be stupidly op. The change taken from the Pre-Sequel seems fair enough.
It would be cool if critical ascension went up by number of pellets that hit the critical spot

Those 5 projectiles all take effect from the bee shield
This maybe made it the most ammo efficient OP8 sniper, and Jacobs should have one of the best.

You could also talk about amp dmg with a skullmasher
Can you do a video about new movement speed relic? I think it is quite interesting. I've been using it with legendary turtle shield with gage and melee krieg and it works great. Maybe worth trying with bane.
As soon as I saw the movement speed relics, I jumped on the idea of one for melee krieg. Maybe they could also introduce a new e-tech relic combining movement speed with melee? That would be a really cool addition.
That relic makes the whole Badassasaurus fight a joke, he can't land a single attack while you can easily reach all his critspots
why is it so easy for you to put the community patch on? what do i have to do that i can patch borderlands as well on my laptop?
It would be pretty interesting if each of the pellets for the skull masher gave critical ascension for each pellet that crit. Would give it a pretty unique use and change the way you would play with it slightly
that would just mean that it would have given you 6 stacks per shot if you land them all, wich means that if you have full amo capacity + the best stockpile relic for snipers you'd get 999 critical acencions if you stacked it, wich means it would be something so stupid and easy to abuse...50 shots, all lands, thats 300 stacks, wich leaves you with 80ish bullets to go, and what...1800% critical hit damage, wich would proc 6 times, + 1500% weapon damage on top of that? (disclaimer, if im wrong about the numbers, inform me, im not sitting here taking lessons from a webpage for exact numbers)
Id say that would make zero more broken than salvador....and all you'd need is 1 gun to smash anything, maybe not hyperious, unless you somehow bug or exploit to get the crit spot very consistenly, as its tinyer than tina (might have spelled "tinyer" wrong there)

Carl Martin F. Aaneby I don't think it'd be any more broken than Zero is right now. I mean sure you'd stack CA fast, but if you're stacking using a Droog would be much faster and more reliable. If you're looking to get decent stacks during mobbing a Lyuda would probably still be faster.
I think it would make Skullmasher Zero a lot stronger, but I think it'd still be outclassed by the likes of the Pimpernell and Lyuda. It would allow the Skullmasher to be a more powerful option, and definitely the best Jakobs sniper for Zero.
Tl;dr: I think it'd be fine

Yes and its so good now it literally has a higher damage and critical hit damage than all the other sniper rifles in the game

Got my First Skullmasher with my Level 50 Salvador. It was during the time when the Arena was glitched so the Loot fell through the floor. Was so shocked when I found it.
Its the only Skullsmasher that I found ever!
I actually had no idea that the skullmasher had an extra pellet in the presequel. With how easy it is to obtain and how good it can be on all characters in presequel, there's no question that you shouldn't have a skullmasher for at least one of your playthroughs. It may get outclassed by other snipers such as the longnail, but with no designated drop besides from the grinder (from what I know), you should use a skullmasher until you obtain one.

You have no idea how many times the skull masher has just fell through the map after farming for quite a while I gave up on getting it from that source did get it as a world drop though.
Does anyone know why the card stats on the gun say that it has -66% damage? Is that supposed to be "per pellet damage" compared to a normal Jacob's sniper? I love BL2 but I wish the card stats were more descriptive and listed the summary of all the parts as well. Maybe that could all be laid out in a "more info" tab when inspecting the gun, that would be perfect.

If you have 6 listed projectiles landing on a crit spot why wouldn't you receive 6 stacks of ascension?

Dear Luke and Other Zer0 Experts: I'm thinking of trying out a Shotgun Ninja Zer0 build with the Maggie, the Striker, the Skullmasher, and another multi-projectile-per-shot weapon yet to be determined. I'd need slag transfusion grenades for slag and sustainability. Two questions: Would that build work for mobbing, and what should that fourth weapon be?
Twister, good for One shot one kills at close range
slagga or slag pimp for your 4th weapon
Both the twister(slow moving projectiles but with penetration and b0re this one is a mob destroyer at close range) and the slag pimpernel(loves b0re as well, good slag chance. Downside velocity)
I would say twister would come in handy on resistant variable maps

just use the singularity grenade because the twister paired with velocity is insane also you could carry a slagga

The community patch is (as the name implies) is a community-made patch that fixes a lot of bugs, tweaks a lot of weapons and skills, and probably more that I'm not aware of.
I'm unsure if there's a console version of the community patch, sorry.

You really should check out Joltzdude139, he is a Zero "main" but he has playthroughs of all charachters, or atleast many of them, he takes 20-25 days on twitch to play 1 charachter, and then puts the funniest things and the drops in a neat video (day 1 of stream will be day 1 vid, day 2 of stream will be vid 2 etc. etc.) "Borderlands 2 | [insert charachter here] | funniest moments and drops day #1" He also has 3000 hours in the game, so if you like them clever, he is one of them, he also plays without the bar.

Well today I was farming on the 360 just dlcs ya know farming hyperious on op on my gunzerker and we'll I pulled a perfect skullmasher and I was so confused i died laughing and was like wtf how can't pull a norefleet but pulls a perfect skullmasher so thanks bl2 big middle finger to me

I play pc with the patch but even though i have the critical ascension checked in the patch modifier, it still doesnt work like yours. Is it a mod?
IlluminatedBlü it may be when you apply the patch there are errors or you apply it too early when launching the game
Goosyx how do you check if there are errors?
In the console when you put in the patch. If there is no codes itll just a short message but if not itll tell you there is an error and all you have to do is put in the patch again and should be fine. If not the only other thing i could think of is your not saving the patch under the filter tool correctly
It's really a pity that the Skullmasher is such a pain to farm. It's a gun I always wanted to pick up but never really got myself to farm, simply because it takes like 10 minutes minimum to get to the son of Mothrakk unless you are playing Gunzerker with a double Badaboom loadout to just skip parts of the map. I wish you could get it from a quicker farm, maybe Old Slappy or even Dunkinos mom.
Imagine how stupidly powerful the Skullmasher would be if those extra bullets were unlisted projectiles though... I mean, you could get several CA stacks per shot and it would be insane with amp shields...

Lyuda is the best sniper for bosses, due to B0re, and Skullmasher is good for a 1v1, all imo

No.You may have gotten that impression from a vid where Bahroo, during the loot hunt, was farming an infinity and Mercy, despite all odds, dropped. A one in a million drop, quite literally.
