Borderlands 2: Another buff for the Elephant Gun in newest community patch

- The Elephant Gun is a unique Jakobs sniper rifle from the third campaign DLC for Borderlands 2- Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt. It has a very high damage on the weapon card, but is a very slow fire rate sniper, with a low mag size, and an awful reload speed.
Without the community patch, it is a terrible weapon and one that was absolutely disappointing to find and use. Obviously it looks cool- and I like the idea, but it was just performed so poorly.
The community patch adds a significant amount more damage, which at least allows it to do the most damage on a traditional critical hit shot. The newest version of the community patch gives the weapon the Jakobs barrel. This allows the weapon to actually have a decent sight picture, which I think helps the weapon tremendously.
The newest version of the patch seems to have mitigated the recoil and accuracy recovery problems a little bit as well, again easing the use of the weapon. It also added a little bit more damage still, which is always welcome. It's awesome to see over 3 million on the card.
It no longer sucks, which is awesome. It is still not great with Critical Ascension, given its fire rate. With this in mind, it's probably best to use this weapon for deception shots only if you're going to actively carry it in your load out.

It's really a pity that the two best sniper rifles in the game have such a horribly synergy with vel0city considering it's Zer0's only constant gun damage boost and one of two constant crit damage boosts.
Superslash Well. It's pretty neat, especially on Vladov Snipers but technically not a constant bonus because it takes a bit of time to get the full bonus.

That health gain on the new Otto idol looks sexy on Gaige with blood soaked shields and an Orphan maker/Back hole combo

I'm eager to see you redo the Landscaper as they changed the patterns of the pellets, added more pellets, removed self damage, and I think they made them instantly explode if near an enemy. Haven't tested with Axton, though so I don't know if it got grenade damage
It probably did. Pretty much all splash damage/explosive guns that were changed with the UCP do get grenade damage bonuses now.

Sad they changed the barrel because the reason it had a hyperion barrel in the first place was to make it look like yhe elephant gun from the first game.

Honestly I really like the Sniper rifles in BL2 without scopes.
Now it really can compare to the glorious elephant gun from borderlands 1 which had a very accurate iron sight. The bl1 elephant gun was really fun to use, while bl2 elephant gun just sucked but with this community patch version it really looks like it can come at least somewhat close to its former glory in bl1.. even thought it still lacks accuracy :/

Fun fact about the Elephant Gun and Teapot, they had unique gun bodies which had no stat boosts, unlike how the normal gun bodies do (which is what causes the main stat differences between white/green/blue/purple guns). Part of the reason they were so bad, since they were literally worse than white gear in that regard. UCP 4.1 fixed that.

Luke, you should try stack critical ascension and see how quickly the elephant gun will kill the invincible's or if it can. I think that would be a pretty interesting challenge

Maybe you should try to see if you could do one-shot videos with this gun after crit-stacking with a vladof rifle. The crits would be insane.
I hope whenever these community patches come to an end Gearbox decides to put these patches into the base game and into the Handsome Collection through updates.

If you build stacks with another sniper then switch to the elephant gun would that be a good strategy
It's like you build up enough CA while keeping the gun in 1 of 4 slots and switch and shot from deception.. BOOM ! damage cap achieved.

What ho old chap, pip pip and all that. Glad the old gun has some kind of sight, my old soldier friend axton can make excellant use of it as a rifle. Just wish that zooming in thing wasn't er...well, a thing...
I wonder if you could potentially use this gun while specced heavily into 1s1k, fast hands, killer, and at one with the gun, and focus on getting one shots then reloadin.
Additionally, this thing could absolutely shred if you 'rotate' it with a lyuda for stacking, and a morningstar, plus a slag chere amie for healing and slagging.
Late AF, but that was how I played with this: shoot-reload-shoot-reload. It was much faster than just using it normally and felt like it did way more damage overall.

yesterday while farming a pandemic in sawtooh i got a longbow stormfront with 2.2 fuse time.. so is not bad, not what i was looking for but still cool
Why were you farming a pandemic in the first place? Are you playing Krieg (as far as I know the only thing this grenade really is good for is gaining bloodlust stacks)?
But yeah, I've actually gotten a world drop in Sawtooth as well, when I was just playing through the game on TVHM. I got a rolling thunder from an Ambush commander...
now, that is an awful grenade, it can only come in rubberized grenade delivery and it probably kill u but as a free drop still cool

Im playing this game again, but im using a pirated version of the game with all the DLCs this time. Can i still install the community patch? If so, how?
I used to play the steam version of this 3 years ago, but its on my older brother's steam account and he really doesnt let me use it anymore.
Just make a copy of your game files as a backup then watch a tutorial on youtube. I can't think of any reason why there would be a problem with it.

How do you have a bag with a capacity of 100? And how are you able to carry more than 500 eridium? These seem like awesome quality of life changes that I would like to employ for myself.
Oh, really? My patch doesn't seem to change my eridium capacity. And do you mean going into gibbed, changing the backpack SDU purchases, and buying more? Because I've also tried that and it resets to 39 every time I save and quit.
I wish we could get rid of the idea that the EG is supposedly bad because it can't build Critical Ascension stacks. CA is for Droogs, and the entire point is to compensate for precisely the lack of single hit base damage in Droogs, which the Elephant Gun has.
I use the Lyuda for boss killing, and the Elephant Gun for one shotting humanoids. Neither gun is bad; they have very different use cases. The Elephant Gun simply is not meant for sustained fire.

HI EVERYONE I used to play on ps3 borderlands 2 back 2015 i have a maxed Salvador and a maxed zero i switched over to PC about 3 months ago i bought the goty edition on ps3 i want to get back to borderlands so im asking can i just buy the regular borderlands 2 without any dlc while my saves have dlc or do just need to buy the goty addition along with the headhunter packs and digistruct peak thanks for any help

I have been using the Otto Idol on OP8 Gaige along with two topneaa, Grog, and either a lvl 26 badaboom or a slag Pimp; Legendary Anarchist for more damage, Longbow Slag Transfusion, and a Sham.
I only put three points in Blood soaked shields, the thought being that the Otto Idol replenishes more than BSS takes out.
It works great, as long as I am getting kills..... Co-op; well lets just say I am glad the other guy has res.

Vortex Cookie, Gibbed allows you remove scopes; Doesn't work well with vladofs or dahls though.

Elephant Gun has its own style with that Hyperion barrel and its looking better in original. Also on UCP 4.0 it has a huge damage as well so I see no reason to use UCP 4.1. Btw try this gun with The Bee and you will be surprised.
