As a Mariners fans, I love how most of these guys were or are part of the Mariners organization.

You never know what you got until they produce. Patric Hörnqvist was the last player selected in the 2005 NHL draft. He just retired after 15 fantastic seasons. Not a HOFer but every single NHL team would salivate over the possibility of having him.
It's not exactly the same but I think about Michael Jordan having 2 players taken before him. It's hard enough to think about 1 team much less 2 passing on the greatest basketball player ever.
@@JVJsportswe ain’t gonna sit here and act like Hakeem didn’t deserve the number 1 pick? Top 10 centers all time possibly and a two time champ and mvp. Probably would of won more with a better cast or at least a sidekick type of player like pippen, Kyrie or klay lol. Sad that him and Jordan never played in the finals against each other to really tell. Sam Bowie is agreeable, but I always feel like Portland was a bad spot for most players cause of the medical staff at the time. Bill walton was a champ and mvp but he as never the same after. I feel like something similar happened to Bowie time there wish surgery’s and cut his potential down tremendously.

The player selected after Judge was my friend’s kid, Ian Clarkin, coincidentally by the Yankees. Injuries have crushed his dreams of making it to the show. Scouting can only predict so much.
Injuries can really suck. Atleast he probably got a good size signing bonus being picked so early

Ik this video was made last week but still Billy Mckinney has been great for the yankees this year and has been able to hold up a bit of judges mantle at least for a couple weeks before he cooled off.
I agree that Hunter Renfroe is great. He will not be with the Angels next year because his production has dropped but even if he has a great 2nd half, he will be too expensive for the Angels to keep next year because they have many outfielder choices.
You just never know which player is going to break out or which video is going to land.

I saw a tweet a few months ago about Renfroe being a bad clubhouse presence and a bit racist towards teammates during his time with the brewers, not sure if theres truth to it but I got a feeling thats why he keeps getting flipped
The real question is what happened to the player personnel directors of each team that passed on Judge. MLB works like the Vatican. The worst directors get passed to other teams “based on experience.”
I’d say Kris Bryant has made a bigger impact for the Cubs then Judge has for the Yankees.
He has won a World Series so it's hard to disagree with that

When the Yankees don’t have judge they don’t make the playoffs as you saw when he missed around 60 games this year, put up great stats but still didn’t make it cause of how long he was able to play
Also he didn’t win ws mvp or playoff mvp so it’s not like he exactly carried the cubs in that postseason either. Judge also has a higher career war

Looks at Crawford's numbers... it was like he unraveled as soon as he got traded from the Detroit farm system which is unusual for a player since the Tigers aren't known for the farm system at that time. Secondly, the later 1st rounders are where a lot of them get increasingly risky with many of the guys being cup of coffee call ups, below replacement, or not making it then there was Judge.
Edit: Looks like mechanical issues occurred when Cincinnati tried to convert a control pitcher into a strikeout pitcher and he started producing walks and the like.
The MLB draft is one of the biggest crapshoots in all of sports. Aside from clear cut #1’s, it all complete insanity. That’s why there’s 50 rounds to it.
