Excellent video. Out of curiosity, would they be quartered with the unit they were in prior to the invasion of France or separately in a police barracks?
Thanks for watching,if the feldgendarmerie was a stand alone proper unit,it would be based separately but if the personnel were feldgendarmerie within a particular unit they would be with their unit
Great video, I had read little bits about them being armed and working alongside, the allies, was it with just the Americans or bits and french too? Can't imagine the Russians doing it tho?, presumably they would of had to remove all nazi insignia? I would like to get a book on the subject, wonder if there is one ? Cheers again
they worked with usually the british and americans, a friend has a ww2 german helmet which was reissued to a soldier working with the americans, it actually has a decal of the american unit to the side!..if your lucky theres a 2 vol book set called the chained dogs, its the complete history from the prussian era right up to the 1980s.,during denazification it seems likely tht the insignia featuring a swastika would be removed.
@@historicmilitaria1944 is yours a replica ss1 though it looks like it has the eagle on it doesn't look like the Luftwaffe Eagles one thank you for replying it's very much appreciated
@@falloutcosplay8802 theres 2 seperate feldgendarmerie gorgets, one has a luftwaffe eagle, one has the army eagle, mine is the army eagle, it was the same type used by ss feldgendarmerie, there was no specific ss one., maybe youre getting confused with an ss standard bearer gorget?
@@historicmilitaria1944 oh awesome thank you for clearing up no I did not realise that both the army and the SS both use the exact same when it came the "necklace" I apologise if you can't understand I'm profoundly dyslexic but I really appreciate your help
Incorrect, lower ranking Feldgendarmerie members such as Enlisted Men had to report infractions and violations to superior FG NCOs or COs. They couldnt act on a violation committed by an NCO+, as they're still Enlisted Men, unless its really extreme.
They could arrest anyone, no matter what rank the arrested individual was, up to Oberst. They could then do a summary punishment or execution on the spot.
Great stuff C J,enjoying the longer videos.Looking forward to the next one!
thanks

Hauptmann Haller was very much disliked as a Feldgendarmerie officer, if you watched the 1993 Stalingrad movie. How good would you say that movie is?
stalingrad isnt a favourite, its watchable
Feld-gend-arm-erie
The world "john" is not in there lmao
Facts also incorrect regarding their powers and limitations Gefreiter could arrest an nco for example

What did feldjager do
Feldjägerkörp hunted deserters and partisans basically
