When it comes to selecting a late game bow, they are many fantastic options, but out of all of these, in my eyes the visually astonishing Eventide stands out the most! Not only does this look awesome, but its damage is too! Delivering the best bow performance of anything pre-Cultist, even leaving the tsunami in its wake. Yeah eventide is really versatile because of piercing and high dps
Almost always works better with holy or venom arrows than with special projectiles of normal arrows

Bro, I always have an Eventide on me in my hotbar. It is just beautiful to look at. Also, you didn't mention it, but the arrows fired can be influenced by where your cursor is. The further away it is, the more spread out it is as shown in your video. The closer the cursor is to your character, the more the arrows line of travel looks similar to the Tsunami's line of travel.

I thought it was the other way around, like for example, when the cursor is closer to your character, the arrows reach the destination point faster, and therefor have more time to spread out, and vice versa.
@undertale fan thing I've only played the game on the Switch, but the arrows change their course depending on the cursors distance from the player. I actually didn't notice until I stood still, and the cursor was on my player character. Instead of the arrows targeting the cursor, they fire in a straight line. I only discovered it accidentally, but the arrows are dependent on the cursor's position. Like I said, I've only played the Switch version, but you could try for yourself to see if it works for other consoles (if you have a different console separate from the Switch). The cursor does have to be dead on your character from what the Switch version showed me.
I think one thing you missed when showcasing this bow was because you swapped arrow types. Sure you get a little bit of its signature projectile with the holy arrows, but the main sell of this weapon is the wooden arrow projectile speed. For large bosses you want to keep at a distance like cultist and moon lord, you can hit them way more times with more reliability with plain wooden arrows, the holy arrows are notably slower and prone to missing
That's really only if you don't have the Magic Quiver though, which you should have anyway

Empress is worth fighting already just for the Soaring Insignia alone, the weapons are a plus. I tested this bow against the Old Ones Army and it destroys them, for events the Eventide crushes with the wooden arrows.
The Insignia is cool, but lately I've come to realize that I much prefer mounts over wings
With something like the Fishron or UFO mount, you get infinite flight without having to spend two accessory slots on wings and the insignia, plus it's easier to control since you just use your directional buttons
@@juicyjuustar121 yeah but my main issue with flying mounts it's that I can't dash, plus I just use the insignia as my boots since I don't run on the ground on the ML or Empress fight. And wings are normally faster (unless it's something like Duke's mount on the rain).
@@juicyjuustar121 but they don't have that much speed neither you can dash to avoid some of the hard to dodge attacks nor you can use it for every boss they just can't keep up with the movement that wings give
@@SpiderJAAM thats true, ive just found that the extra mobility of the dash and the higher speed isnt really necessary most of the time. hell daytime empress was SURPRISINGLY easy once i switched to using a mount instead of wings

Tsunami is still very good in it's place even after outclassed by tsunami because you can get it right when hardmode starts and then kabooom

@@The-Floor.nah, I play on mobile and I find it easier to beat than mech bosses. It's much easier cuz of attack patterns

I’ve been using this in my most recent playthrough and it’s been an immaculate weapon. It’s weapons like these that motivate me to fight the empress of light in my runs even if it’s not always necessary or even efficient. One thing I’ll say though is that I much prefer the tsunami with holy arrows and would rather use this with an endless quiver just because I like the effects a lot(and the tsunami with holy arrows is extremely satisfying in its own right), plus grinding for holy arrows is sometimes a chore that I’d rather just not do.

in my humble opinion, i believe that the tsunami is better for single-target dps with the holy arrows rather than the eventide
that said, i do recognize the eventide's piercing abitlity, which obviously makes it work better for groups
the eventide is just the tsunami, but better both gameplay wise, and visually
while i use the tsunami in pretty much every ranged playthrough, (since i suck ass at empress of light), i feel like it could use a re-work, maybe keeping the same things it does now, but adding a water visual trail, and maybe some homing bubbles
i think this will make the two bows even

I truly love buhs, they are a great way to keep yourself away from an enemy, and buhs are also a great alternative to guns, The best part about the buh is that it has more visual variety compared to guns, and this gives buhs a unique charm, the buh’s gravity can help, and that is why the buh is in of the best subclass, since it goes all the way, with buhs you can get immediately after you spawn in, and buhs you can get after the pillars, and so that is why I love buhs.
Tbh this might be one of the best bows for moonlord because at least the wooden arrow bullets travel so fast that all you need is to aim at an eye, and that's it. while most bows have it so where you have to calculate literally gravity, if moonlord will be there when the arrow reaches it's destination, and then aim for it.
I remember using the Eventide during my Archer play through, I remember prefering Tsunami with Venom Arrows was better on single targets, but the Eventide dominated with groups. I’m not sure if it got buffed or I was too biased towards the Tsunami but I do agree it is an amazingly good bow, considering bows are my favorite weapon in the game

i would love a showcase on the hook of dissonance as it is incredibly underrated queen slime drop which can basically replace the rod of discord is some fights and is great for martian saucer farming if you are using a bunker. i would go as far as saying it is the best hook in the game (obviously not a weapon)
I love the asthetic of all the items empress drops, they all look so pretty, but i do think the eventide might be my favourite :))
Eol is just a good and beatiful boss in general. She and wall of flesh is probably the only perfect bosses. Well, everything about Empress of Light is good and thats why she is perfect in my eyes, Wall of Flesh doesnt have anything crazy on his drops besides the emblems and pwnhammer, but given to his insanely great concept and execution he is perfect in my eyes as well.

I absolutely love the eventide! The only reason I would fight the empress is for the soaring insignia and eventide. I always take with me to the pillars until I have the vortex beater or phantasm. It is such a fun weapon and very underated!

Just finished Pure Ranged on Classic and it's safe to say that Eventide is quite excellent weapon when dealing with multiple enemies.
It helped me on Martian Madness tho(I didn't get the Cosmic Car Key lol, but at least I get Brain Scrambler that synergizes well with Bundle of Horseshoe Baloons)

i have always loved the eventide since i knew it existed
Empress of light is such a fair and fun bossfight, that drops good loot like the eventide to help you on your journey to kill moonlord, the final boss, who's not fun, or fair to fight. All the more reason to pick up a good weapon to make the fight easier.
The only time I used the eventide is in my thorium playthrough and realised it was much better than I thought it was.
I always fight empress for infinite flight and on my ranger run, i just so happened to get it. It destroys when you can hit it but but the vortex weapons are better. For post plantera tho, it will being you through the game.
I would argue the key is availability
Duke is up the moment you enter hardmode while EoL needs Plantera dead for the butterflies to spawn. Both are fights you need to get accustomed to beat and the Phantasm and/or Vortex Beater are around the corner anyway
I've now beat the game as Ranger and Melee and both the Empress weapons for both classes have been my favourite...
Empress is just the boss that keeps on giving.
What are the modifiers on it? Do you use any items to boost the dps?

I would use this over the phantasm tbh because it can be obtained pre moonlord and it absolutely GRINDS The Destroyer
"Empress is a grind" as a summoner that's a bit of an understatement
You forgot to mention that it is among the empress drops that changes visually depending on certain character names
Gotta notice that you used the Eventide at normal speed against a spawn-rate-boosted solar eclipse and it still shredded through it. Opposite to lowering its use time like most occasions. This one shows even more how op this buh is.
Stake launcher is very op for events and I favour it since the ammo is easy to get too
I love the eventide because you can use the magic quiver with it and save all of your good ammo for your other weapons
It's also fantastic for crowd control
This is probably my second or third favorite wepon
I unexpectedly obtained a Marrow early in hardmode and I'm farming Hallow Mimics with an Endless Quiver, which is very useful.
I actually did a "buhs" only run and fought EOL for this drop using the Phantasm. Eventually I made a couple thousand holy arrow and took her down. Riding high on the W I fought Moonlord and won.

My favorite bow in the game, I know the Phantasm is better overall especially with Luminite Arrows but I have never liked how it felt personally and this bow fills every archer niche for me
Phantasm beats both and you can pair it with jester's arrows for godlike crowd clearing capabilities
I want you to make a video of the hambat. It’s dropped by pigrons, it gets stronger the more fed you are and if you kill something it will give you a regeneration buff. I haven’t seen anyone talk about it yet so you can be the first!

tbh, i dont see any other option for tier 3 old one's army other than this bow, i tried fighting it with the snowman cannon but i got nowhere close to beating it that way

A fun fact for any rangers struggling with the solar pillar, the Eventides unique projectiles (the ones wooden arrows are converted into) cannot be reflected by enemies.
I cheese the Empress so often; an asphalt bride from end to end, movement speed and cloro Gun. Hold left and shoot XD

I still prefer the tsunami, as having a wider projectile spread means that it fairs better for fast moving bosses as you almost always hit at least one of the 5 arrows. The tsunami also feels stronger for some reason, but I can't deny how cool the eventide looks
I remeber the aerial bane being incredibly broken as all its arrows would hit one enemies which mode it destroy bosses like moonlord and any other bods

With the tests you did, the tsunami with jester arrows would have turned out to be the better option, however I will agree with the fact that eventide is better for moon lord.
That would've been terrible. Holy arrows activate enemy i-frames because they have proper piercing, so only one of the five arrows would hit each individual enemy
Eventide with Ichor arrows shreds duke fishron and golem, I do not regret killing empress before golem because I am rewarded with a spike of power
Tbh once you got used to Eol's attack cycle it becomes somewhat easy to fight it
This bow is amazing
I think a lot of empress weapons fall into the trap that most weapons in this game fall into. Namely the point that they are obtainable is simultaneous to much better or easier to acquire or both better and easier to acquire weapons. It’s really hard to justify using the seedler when the terrablade is one mothron away and it’s hard to want to use the empress weapons (barring the kaleidoscope and terraprisma because there is no contemporary weapon of comparable power) when fishron drops exist. So many weapons in this game suffer from being drastically outperformed by contemporarily obtainable items.
I did express pre golem on master mode
As a summoner I probably threw away like 3 eventides before I got the kaleidoscope
Eventide is a very strong weapon but tbh I usually find myself skipping empress unless I’m playing summoner due to its difficulty and the annoying process of finding lacewings.
Personally, I thought Eventide wouldn't be not that useful, since there was an alternative to it in Calamity which drops from Providence. The animations were fantastic, however slow firerate was the reason I haven't utilized it that much. I was afraid the same problem would make difference with Eventide as well and I would opt for Tsunami... But it turned out I hadn't used Tsunami not as often as Eventide during the ranged class playthrough.
In conclusion, EoL may be difficult at first, still this glorious bow IS worth tryharding.
EOL should be fightable pre planterra
if you can fight the duke straight out of easy mode you should be able to fight the empress before taking on planterra
I think just using wooden arrows would make the moonlord fight easier because the projectiles aren't affected by gravity. As opposed to the phantasm.
