  • While Terraria is like a lot of other games where it appears there is no story and lore, that actually isn't the case. To celebrate Terraria's 8th anniversary, relogic released some official lore to go along with Terraria which explains what your purpose is, the different biomes, what the bosses are, and much more which I go over in this video

So in logical sense The Old Man is the Clothier Who Came back, Also then it would make sense why he has a dialouge where he has memories of Tying the mechanic up beacuse maybe he was enslaved and called old man so he had to do it.

Some parts that you missed are:
The crimson is a hivemind and the "leader" is the brain of cthulhu who created the crimson after being separated from his body.
The eye of cthulhu is also a separated body part and it's actually looking for cthulhu.
Skeletron is cthulhu's bones that, when separated got so angry that they came to life and cursed the clothier (and dungeon).
The mechs are cthulhu's eyes, bones, and spine, the only part that he needed to become whole again was his brain (ocram) but we freed the mechanic and killed the cultist before that could happen or else we would have to fight cthulhu and not moonlord.
Plantera only appears after the mech bosses because of the radio active fallout they leave when they are destroyed.

Temple's guardian is more accurate, there isnt such thing as radioactive waste coming from a machine being destroyed, prove me wrong but I have never seen a car being destroyed leaking radioactive waste, mostly when metals used are not radiation focused like the mechas'.

You are completely wrong. The owner of Terraria confirmed that Moonlord was Cthulhu. Also the Pillars are his seal, which explains why they appear after you murder him. And if you pay attention he shatters the item you use to summon Moonlord. What backs this up is that you can't summon Moonlord if the Pillars invaded your world. Also if you read the lore, it directly says Cthulhu was banished to the dark side of the moon. And even more in the lore is that the 3 Mechanical bosses were created by the captured engineer and were replacements to Cthulhu's torn off body part, you stopped them before his body was fully fixed though.

The pillars seem to be fragments or conduits of moonlords power, and when we disrupt them, moonlords annoyed and comes to fight us directly. Since everything else he'd have had been taken down. I thought that Daedalus made the mech bosses due to the Stormbow existing.
Due to his crazy machines he makes in Greek Mythology, I wouldn’t put it past him to have made these contraptions to have been used for tasks in attacking and defending against enemies.
I feel the twins and Skeletron prime are made for Defense and Assault, and the Destroyer was for, as it said, full scale destruction of lands or probably just digging tunnels to transport armies safely.
The Steampunker comes along well after Daedalus’ death and tampers with the contraptions, trying to figure out how they work and to get a peek into the insane mind of Daedalus.
However, in the process, she screws up a little, a terrible mistake as you now have 3 mechanical nightmares to fight, all of them meant to beat the brakes off of full scale armies.
And you, the lone warrior, single handedly destroy these creations, and eventually going up against something far stronger than them, killing an eldritch god.
You, a mortal, ascending to the power of a god, you aren’t just a warrior.
    You are the Main Character.

    the real lore is:
"In the vast expanse of Terraria's universe, a tale of cosmic struggle unfolds. At the heart of this celestial drama stand two ancient and powerful entities: the Moon Lord and his enigmatic brother, Cthulhu. Eons ago, these cosmic beings existed as a single, unimaginably powerful entity, embodying the dual nature of light and dark.
In a time of primordial chaos, Cthulhu, driven by a hunger for power, shattered himself into fragments that were cast across the cosmos. Some of these fragments found their way to Terraria, where they manifested as twisted creatures of darkness. The eye of one such fragment became the menacing Eye of Cthulhu, a relentless force bent on asserting its dominance.
Skeletron, once a mighty guardian, was ensnared by the corrupted essence of another Cthulhu fragment. Twisted and transformed, Skeletron became the sentinel of the Dungeon, guarding its ancient secrets with unyielding determination.
As these remnants of Cthulhu's fractured self began to exert their influence over Terraria, the world's very balance was at stake. The ethereal guardian, the Dryad, recognized the threat they posed. With her connection to the natural forces of the world, she rallied the forces of light against the encroaching darkness.
Braving untold challenges and formidable enemies, Terraria's valiant heroes sought to stem the tide of corruption. In an epic battle that spanned the realms of the living and the ethereal, the Dryad, channeling the world's remaining purity, confronted the essence of Cthulhu itself.
Through her unyielding courage and the power of the land, she managed to suppress Cthulhu's malevolent influence. The forces of corruption waned, and the sinister hold over Terraria weakened. Cthulhu's influence was shattered, its fragments rendered powerless.
Yet, as the Dryad's victory secured the world's present, the Moon Lord, Cthulhu's twin, gazed upon Terraria from the far reaches of the cosmos. Unbeknownst to all, he watched and waited, his intentions and motives shrouded in cosmic mystery. The ultimate confrontation between these celestial siblings looms on the horizon, promising a climax that will shape Terraria's destiny.
In this dynamic world, Terraria itself is a living entity, its very essence tied to the ebb and flow of life. The Hallow, a realm of radiant light and vibrant colors, is the world's defense mechanism. When a threat emerges, it spreads its ethereal influence, erasing corruption and thwarting darkness. The Hallow, in its eternal wisdom, safeguards the delicate balance that sustains Terraria.
Deep within the shadows, the Dungeon stands as a testament to the ancient past. It is within its echoing halls that the true nature of the Wall of Flesh is revealed. No mere monstrosity, the Wall of Flesh is the guardian of a cosmic secret. It stands as a barrier, preventing the unbridled release of the world's souls.
These souls, with their immense power and energy, must be kept in check to maintain the equilibrium of Terraria. The Wall of Flesh is bound to its duty, a sentinel cursed to endure an existence of agony and sacrifice, all to ensure that the delicate balance between life and death is maintained.
In the depths of the underworld, where fire and brimstone rage, the Wall of Flesh stands as both a challenge and a warning. Its defeat is not merely a triumph of strength but a reminder of the interwoven destinies that shape Terraria's fate.
In this interconnected cycle of existence, even the player becomes a part of the intricate tapestry. The Guide, a knowledgeable figure, serves as a guardian of lore and wisdom. Passing down knowledge from generation to generation, the Guide's legacy is eternal, ensuring that the lessons of Terraria are never forgotten." please like this took me forever

I love the lore and imaging it. Unlike most people the goblin tinker is the most useful and vital character to me. Everyone tends to hate him and make memes [justified]. But I always tried to imagine his background his culture, loving your nation of goblins yet supplying humans. Trusting humans and rebuilding love and trust again and allowing others to take charge while being in agony that two cultures could not find middle ground. And seeing what he could do with his skills and knowledge to help others even if it caused the entire universe itself to hate him. And it did. Without the Tinkerer what knowledge would you have to go off of. What risks did he take and will all of society dispose him for the knowledge he had. It is written in his character is society outcasted him and now he has to adjust having all his hopes and dreams shattered finding chaos in the midst. I picked him as my favorite character out of all of them. Try playing terraria without the reforge system. Without the crafting system. Play terraria again but having no knowledge to guide you and see how dark the world becomes. [Words of an edgy fanfic writer]

So after Cthulu was banished to the moon, his brother the Moon Lord found him and so Cthulu ate parts of his brother to try to survive (hence why his legs are missing. And to clarify it could interpreted as ML willingly gave them up or Cthulu forced it) and then put his soul into ML so his body may regenerate hence why the celestial sigil summons ML instead of Cthulu, it is Cthulu but in ML's body.

I feel like to keep up with lorecraftian vein, Chtulu aka Moonlord should permiate a debuff at the start of the fight. Some bosses have these serous debuffs that needs an immunity consumable or item (in calamity mod i think). However also lore wise I like the fact that you cannot really beat Chutulu as it resets time before his summoning durring his death.
While it would be nice to have a gadget that can prevent this time hop, just ignoring Moonlord, never actually beating it and just moving on the story would be also okay tbf, as he IS banished and cant actually do anything. Summoning him and attempt to kill him is just as any other game lore, just to make sure his dead now that we have a hero that can make it happen.

    Cons:
    1. The boss is harder.
    2. The accessory is worthless, 17% less damage is still not enough to not to die to a boulder.
    3. The stats of the pickaxe are worse than the crimson's counterpart, making farming hellstone waste more time and the obsidian skin potion will wear out faster.
    4. The hardmode enemies include the worms which are annoying during farming.
    Pros:
    1. The light pet is stationary in the air and not bouncing around like a f---ing moron.
    2. Has access to the shadowflame debuff.
    3. Has a ranged weapon in Hardmode in fishing.
Crimson on the other hand has ichor debuff, a completely goated vampire knifes, a decent melee weapon, way easier boss, one of the best accessories in the game because of the dodge chance ( which also increases crit chance by 10% ).
