    ABOUT PAPADAKIS RACING:
    The Papadakis Racing team began drifting in 2004 and is the most winning team in Formula Drift history, earning the 2015 title with driver Fredric Aasbo, as well as backto back championship titles with driver Tanner Foust in 2007 and 2008. The Rockstar Energy Drink / Nexen Tire Toyota Corolla Hatchback is the latest competition build from the Hawthorne, California, based team.
    Team owner Stephan Papadakis is a legend of sport compact racing who began building his reputation in the 1990s with the first front-wheel drive, tube-chassis drag car in the U.S. The team earned multiple records and championships in the discipline, turning in elapsed times and trap speeds previously thought unattainable in front-drive drag cars. Papadakis' successes in front-wheel drive were matched by his efforts in rear-wheel drive when he campaigned a Honda Civic that became just the fifth car to join the NHRA's Sport Compact 200 MPH club

      @MindBlowerWTF Před 4 lety +8

      @@tanners.6524 How You dont save time with laser tube notching? And setup for this process is quick compared to other machined parts, You don't have to make fixtures, set it up few times to machine few sides etc., and compared to manual notching, it just cuts both ends and done, while with manual You would have to set it up at an angle for first notch, then cut to lenght, setup angle for the second notch and the rotation of the tube in relation of the first notch. It's like 3-4 times faster.
      You can email a rollcage/chassis to a supplier of Your choice and get it to back, all done in a week or so, compared to either finding local guy that can do it (and You cant work on Your car during this time) or transporting the car to someone decent.

The Equipment and software costs really take the fun out of it. But repeatable and accurate annnd you can test many variations before hand if you want to get into load testing and such.

    You guys went far and beyond, nd stripping down the body to plain, to the last piece, sink it in chemicals, rebuild the whole engine, at this point, I don't even think it matters , if it is a Supra, or you get a Z4, or a 3 series, or an old Supra NA motor, for cheap, then do the same, strip it, soak it, scan it,, put new engine, mounting points, structure cage bars welded. You can do it with a Miata, you can do it with an Evo 6-9, any good platform to start with. So much custom work, that you build a new car, a racecar, with custom carbonfiber driveshafts, and I can't even remember half the list. Big brakes, big tires, just speechless. This is amazing, great work guys.

    Love this channel. I work in aerospace engineering and I can't express how satisfying it is to watch you CAD something, print it, make it and run it. We go through months of rigorous scrutiny just to change a bolt.

  • @NeedANameWithoutNumbers

    The amount of precision and planning that has gone into this is very satisfying to watch. I'm almost more excited to watch more prep on this car than actually seeing the finished product.
