In this episode, I want to discuss about Damaged Scratched or Rusted Leaking Forks, and How to Fix them on a Budget.
Instead of the JB weld can use Novol termo epoxy putty - Much cheaper but works as well.

You’re a star Bud. I’m 58 and just learnt something really useful. Keep on doing what you do and thank you.👌👍😎
Hi Tim, Thanks 👍
Great video, thank you! Exchanging parts has unfortunately become the standard nowadays. But repairing on a budget is the real thing!
Thank you for watching 👍
Man!! I have no words to describe my happiness!! Ur a hero! A genius! And most of all such a genuine bloke!
I loved the zinc method to prevent rusting, well done.
Thanks 👍
Me too.❤
Mee too
"nobody knows as much as all of us" - and you proved that my friend... thankyou from New Zealand... stay safe..
Thanks 👍
Ur is the only video on youtube thats solves this problem!! And u still had to do it with such amazing workmanship! Hats off to u!
Thank you
Man, where have you been all my life?!
Just what I need to remove pitting along my forks!
Thank you!
Really comprehensive and straight forward video.
Thanks for watching
The Zinc Plating you did is very clever. We'll done. My legs aren't near as bad, just some scoring on the 1st few inches of travel, so after watching this video, I feel confident that I can salvage mine and get some riding in this Spring and Summer. Thank you.
I got some buffing discs that go on a drill along with some different grit "clay" and applied it to my forks. What a difference! A lot of time the older bikes either have old clear coat that has yellowed due to UV or some say it is the anodizing process. At either rate, I strip it off with acetone and 0000 steel wool and buff it with the pads and clay. Great video!
Wow didn't know you can zinc plate with a battery. Thanks for this.
Glad to help👍
@@AVVGCustomstudio is that the table salt? That yiu used for zinc plating?
This is brilliant especially the zinc plating part
That is the most simple 'Zinc-method' I have seen . great video. Dave NZ
Excellent video thank you, it's given me the confidence to try myself on a Suzuki RV125 Van Van fork stanchion - I tried new seals first but they did not stop the leak. The sanding is now complete, rubbing compound next then to pound store for cheap batteries - most other shops only seem to stock Alkaline now.
why is this so under rated
Absolutely fantastic and so well presented! Thank you. 30mins ago I was considering buying a new chromium fork for my m/c as I just replaced the seals and whilst assembling the last one I inadvertently damaged the surface (near the oil seal) and created a dipple which I sanded the burs off so it wouldn't damage the seals but of course I still have the dipple which now I will try applying a spot of steel epoxy and sand down to a lovely smooth finish - okay, that's the idea :) Anyway, thanks again
I've just done a set of yamaha SR250 forks, now I know how to fill the pit marks untill the customer can afford to re chrome, thanks for sharing man. 👍 and I've subscribed...
Thanks for watching 👍
Great technique, thank you from Uruguay.
Great job brother 👍👍👍👍....... especially the zinc plating part. Love and respect from india❤️❤️❤️

Amazing. Great video and very helpful
An extremely good product to prevent rust in the first place, is "Corrosion-X". It binds magnetically to metal, almost on an atomic level, and is therefore very resistant to pressure and heat. I've started using this on all different kinds of things - fork legs, brake caliper pistons, bolts and nuts, tools, exhaust, etc. I can highly recommend that product.
Amazing, thank you so much. You rock keep up the great work!
Thank you ☺️

I did this correction with a drill. I wrapped sandpaper around a pen and held it with a drill. It was way much more easier to remove scratches.

Nice ty for this vid.

It's been quite a while since the most recent previous comment, so, I hope you are doing well. Great video, I will be using this technique. I have a couple of questions. First, why did you choose nail polish after proving superglue was stronger? My second question is about other fork repair techniques. Have you ever repaired a vintage motorcycle fork slider by separating the cast parts and replacing the outer tube? Sorry, if my first question was previously answered, but no time to read all the comments.
Excellent very helpful 👍
