Massive thanks for making such a nice video.
Thank YOU for making this fantastic game!
Now that was a proper Unboxing! Thank you.
Thanks for the video, still helping out people 3 years later
Nice!! So glad to hear it!
Very helpful video. Can't wait to receive this game in France! 👍😉
Супер! Поздравляю с приобретением долгожданной игры!
thank you for sharing this wonderful moment, awesome
Great video ... thanks for taking the time !
Great video. Return after 5 years?
Almost an hour but not a second wasted thanks to editing :)
I think 7 years, lol. Life has definitely happened!
Great work there, still waiting for my copy here in Brazil!!!
Hey! Good to see you still post videos! Hope life is going well for you!
Also, I'd recommend running a low pass filter at about 14khz. I can hear your watch beeping (keeping time) throughout this video.
@@JordanReese Hope you are well also! Strange, I'm wearing an Apple Watch that doesn't beep, not sure what you're hearing there...
TheGameLocker I didn’t hear anything ... must be your computer
It's not meant to be audible, it's part of the electronics of the watch, I have unusually good high frequency hearing...
Yes, Thank you very much for this... looks awesome!!! 🙂
Very good video, I enjoyed every minute of it. Glad to see how good the final product looks, and can't wait to receive mine! I do feel a small bit anxious though, because the game looks way more complicated than I had thought, but we'll figure it out in time :P
Thanks so much! Don't worry, there are a lot of components but playing the game is pretty smooth because all you do is pick ONE action to do each turn. Read the rulebook once or twice, then try playing the game solo to get the hang of it! I wish the app were still functional because that really helped me learn the game initially. I'm sure there will be some "how to play" videos posted soon too!
The app should be operational again. If not, it will be soon.
@@LPFI Hi. What's the link to the app please?
@@the_boardgame_guru As far as we know, the app is not sold anywhere yet but the old existing ones may work already.
@@LPFI I see. Thanks for the quick reply. Just to clarify, is this the app for rules or the digital version of the game?
Love it! I wish the trays could hold the human/alien ships but whatever I probably won't even use the stands so prolly moot.
Great video! For the Terran ships though, could you store them in there respective player trays, since you aren't storing the stands there?
Some of them, but not all of them would fit. e.g. for the Orion (black) ships the Starbases take up the entire slot.
Nice video, really enjoyed it. Don't like the wash effect that much, but if only ten pounds extra then not too bad I suppose.
Looking to get this retail so I may ink wash myself or paint parts of the ships etc., including the GCDS model
Edit: I plan on cutting the WA box using the title art work for botton of main box, and that scenic back glued into the brown side of lid.
Black wash is okay, lucky that white is easy to colour, so going to wash it again with a bright lime green for a neon glow. Maybe wash off greens wash and prime them AP army green and wash in white. Rest looked good. Looks great, Panda did great job just shame Kolossal had such horrid communication, this would been a greater reward had the campaign run smoother. Thanks for sharing.
thanks for this helpful video!!
that gorgeous..marvelous..number dices!
I’m so jealous. Didn’t know about the kickstarter and now it is too late. Sad.
Was a late backer, the one thing I passed on was the sun drop wash. The images shown just weren't that impressive, and it's possible that seeing it in person would be better but even your video the sundrop wash just still doesn't look impressive. Also I have to agree with others that while I am happy with the design of trays for storage, the fact that the stands, and human ships weren't considered is a little frustrating. But at the same time designing a box around optional purchases would have people feeling the other way, trays needlessly large box too large, etc.
From a design vs luxury aesthetic, they did knock it out of the park. If my main complaint storage wise is the optional replacement choices or the aesthetic stands don't fit neatly, then it is a well designed box.
Brutal! Ojalá pueda conseguir alguna copia de Kickstarter!
Itd be nice if you can incorporate the eclipse expansion rise of the ancients it has my fav faction the rho Indi syndicate
I regret sooo much not getting in on the ks.....
Is there a comparison between this and the original edition?
Trying to weigh up if upgrading is worth it.
It looks like the player mats are not that great. Just flat sheet of paper? It's a shame it isn't dual layered
This is the best resource to see the comparison, from the designer himself: boardgamegeek.com/thread/2024547/designer-notes-second-edition
Also, the player mats are somewhere between paper and punchboard. They do NOT feel flimsy at all, but they aren't rigid like punchboard either. The resource trackers are dual-layered to keep the cubes in place, so the player boards don't really need to be dual-layered.
As a previous owner of first edition, it's not cheap to upgrade, but I think the rebalancing done by the designer really does make it a better experience for new players, and the new trays make setup and tear-down faster. There's less content than 1st edition right now (they have already planned more expansions for 2nd edition), but I never get around to expansions anyway since I always seem to be introducing it to new players. Hope that helps!
@@TheGameLocker I just sold my first edition today and plan to pick up 2nd ed in retail. Thanks for making these videos. It helped me make my decision - and as you said, it will not be cheap to upgrade. The retail edition is also a lot worse value than the KS which i guess is to be expected. In Australia, you are paying nearly as much for the base game as you would have for the $149 pledge
@@TheGameLocker also, do you think there will be a follow-up Kickstarter? They have already announced an expansion. I just don't know if those that missed out will get a shot at getting in on the next one
@@NemoMangelk No clue. I think due to laws in their country they said they're not allowed to do a kickstarter on their own, which is why they hired Kolossal. Many folks were not pleased with they way the kickstarter was run (the communication wasn't stellar), so who knows what they'll do next.
@@TheGameLocker found a second hand copy (unopened) from someone who backed the game but wanted to sell their pledge. And spent way more than was sensible. But your video series convinced me that this was a treat I wanted to buy myself
Where are your technology tiles, ambassadors, and victory point tokens?
Technology tiles are stored in the white bag after punching, the reputation tiles (VP tokens for battles) are stored in the black bag. The ambassadors are stored in their respective player trays alongside the ships.
@@TheGameLocker Thank you! I got mine tonight and I was panicking haha. But I figured it all out. I put 6 ship stands in each player tray. I combined the interceptors and cruisers into one section for most of them. I had to finesse a few setups but overall it wasn't too hard. And I put one of those standup rule thingies that have 3 sections in each player tray. Thanks for the video, it was awesome.
Please upload a play through video
In my “how to play” video I play through two full game rounds :)
@@TheGameLocker yes but, there isnt any like 4 player playthrough of this game online and I think you are the best person to creat it
Well thank you :), but if I do spend time to create another video on Eclipse it will probably be to detail any upcoming expansions. I think Paul Grogan did an play through of Eclipse, you can find it on boardgamegeek, one of the top rated videos on the Eclipse page.
How would you get ahold of one of these
Hey Reed! It's up for preorder on the publisher's website right now: en.lautapelit.fi/category/317/eclipse
Thanks so much
Oh so the playmate doesn't come with the 350 dollar game?
Where are 3 new sector hexes in Worlds Afar collection?
37:05 is where I show the 8 new sectors in the “galactic events” pack. Is that what you meant?
@@TheGameLocker Oh i see that. But on KS in the WA collection it written have more 3 basic sector hexes. Not include in "galactic event".
Ohh yeah that rings a bell. I could be wrong but I think those stretch goals were included in the retail version. I think the only true Kickstarter exclusive gameplay items were the single piece of punch board that had the turn order variant, 3 extra blueprints, and extra discoveries.
@@TheGameLocker Yeah i think so. In your video or on official website i can't find it so i'm a bit confused :))) now everything is OK thank you!!!
@@TheGameLocker Can i put everything into base game box or need to buy tray/folded space.
Romania wating....
Yeah, made it through half the unboxing before decisions were made XD
...you have a baby behind you...? : )
Yup!
What's with all the moaning background?
Lol, that was probably my baby son in the other room.
