Fun fact: Crybaby (the song) ends with “you’ll just let them drown…” and on the final song of portals (deluxe), the final part of crybaby’s story, the last lyric is “Don’t feel bad, when these fuckers all drown” 😭

im not sure if this is true but a person claimed that the deluxe songs are not part of crybaby's story yet her own experiences.

I actually relate to the song crybaby so much, As a little kid I was incredibly sensitive and I got bullied for it. Eventually I learnt to suck it down and I basically just bottled up my emotions and it went downhill from there.

I think because without the videos for the visuals, people don’t understand it. Especially since it goes with Tag You’re It, and it’s a double feature.

abt teddy bear-- the story is a metaphor for domestic violence, the story tells abt crybaby after she got a living talking teddy bear whom she loved and she was happy until the teddy bear starts acting strange she starts to lose hope in the bear and shes unsure if she should trust him or not although she is not scared as the song goes on the more dangerous and insane the toy becomes like for example in the music video hiding small knived under the bedsheets crumpling photos of her and threatening. The teddy bear tries to kill her even after crybaby tries to trash it, crybaby gets terrified after realizing the situation. The teddy bear represents an abusive partner.

The songs on their own tell a great story but the music videos really nail it in the coffin. You learn so much more about Crybaby and who she is as a person, especially when it relates to K-12. You almost need to watch the music videos to understand the true story of Crybaby.

i hope you react to k-12 soon! she released a full "film" for it which definitely adds to the story but it might still be good to approach it like this one and just listen first, then watch afterwards. i constantly go back and forth on which album i like more so i'd be excited to hear your thoughts!

I feel like you would die for Ethel Cain. She’s very Lana Del Rey-adjacent, with some Florence and the Machine vibe… but so much different than them. It’s very nostalgic Americana, but like Melanie, the album Preacher’s Daughter tells a story. I’d highly suggest looking it up and reading about it. Then check out a song or two. Whether you react or not, your vibe tells me you’ll be obsessed
The best album of 2022! I honestly think Strangers is probably one of the best songs of the last decade, it just is so nuanced, heartbreaking (when she says about her mum I cry every time!) and I just wish I could wipe my brain and hear it for the first time again. What a concept!

Track 7 isn't only about he nervousness for a new relationship it's about a one sided relationship where she is willing to love him a lot but he isn't as into the relationship as she is where she loves him a lot he doesn't live her as nuch. 4 whole months late but I've watched this video many times so might as well comment! I feel like Crybaby is us, the viewer 'cuz the lyrics "I look at you and I see myself".. "I have the same faucet in my eyes so your tears are mine" I think thats why we were called Craybabies. The lyrics until the last part a telling us that we are Crybabies but we don't care (💀). That's how I feel personally about the trilogy in general. I just feel like the character. She is so close to my heart but like Melanie said "Please don't ever worry I know it's morbid but we all die one day" (Song death btw).
She separating herself from the character which is completely fine to me the character crybaby was going to die some day like we all do. Even though the PORTALS Album just came out, I can wait to see what she plans for her next. (WOAH I HAVE NEVER TYPED THIS MUCH JUST TO COMMENT IN MY LIFE 😭)

Dont worry I never understood why people love Pacify her, I think its one of only two songs of her’s that I genuinely don’t like.
When it comes to training wheels its better when you understand the story, basically she’s in love with this boy and is trying to move on from her past with him, he was able to deal with the baggage in soap so now she wants to go forward “take off the training wheels”, the boy through the entire song is scared of taking them off and when she finally is able to convince him, she takes them off, and he leaves. He rides away and leaves her all alone, he moved on and she didn’t. “he didn’t come to my birthday party.”
To be honest Pacify her is one of those that i don't like from Cry Baby maybe it doesn't fit with me, I guess
