My interpretation of field trip was that it was a jab at people who use spirituality, empathy and wokeness as an aesthetic rather than actually incorporating into their lifestyle. She talks about being in an 11 path life which has to do with numerology. People on that path are said to be artistic, sensitive to energies, and reserved. they’re also said to be cursed/blessed with a double edged sword in which they’re gifted but full of self-doubt. This along with the lyric about katarina line up with the duality/dichotomy she was talking about. She’s tired of this fake spirituality trend and expresses how it can be ironically judgmental with the line about astrology and how those types of people will instantly pass judgment on something as small as another person’s signs. She talks about wanting to get lit and have deep conversations, but if they can’t, she’ll just go her own way. I view the field trip metaphor as her spiritual journey to enlightenment/ascension or higher energies.
