I know how it feels to eat lunch alone it's like I don't want them to judge or stare at me and I don't like eating lunch alone like I wish I could skip lunch so I can just go on next class so I don't have to sit alone like sitting at a random table and I don't know anybody at the table or something so my advice are maybe going to a table with people and say hi and interdouse yourself

i'm an ambivert, i don't really like being alone all the time, i like being with my family and friends, but i'm really awkward in front of new people and just don't like starting conversations. it's not like i feel like i'm the worst person ever to talk to because i have a low self esteem, it's that i'm afraid that there will be a super awkward interaction because i somehow have the power to make every single interaction an awkward one

i'm going into a brand new school next year starting off my junior year, and i'm verrrrry scared omg. i tend to have social anxiety in almost every social setting besides when i'm with a few certain people. i just get rly scared as if i'm like public speaking in front of 1283793 people lol. i usually just fight through it and most people don't notice it but i'm just worried that it's gonna affect the first impressions i give off (is that correct grammar, idk?). soo basically i was wondering, do you have any tips on how to start little conversations or like what to do if no one notices that your new? thanks 🙏🏽
Hey, i totally understand your situation- heck i didn't even know i was moving schools until two weeks after school started. Trust me, people will know you are new hahah. Word will get around, and people will notice you. If your anxiety really affects your daily life, I really suggest talking with your counsellor. I found that when I was going through a time at my new school where I felt so misplaced and simply uncomfortable, having someone trusting to talk to definitely eased my mind, and my counsellor gave really really great advice. Think of moving schools as the opportunity to be a better you. Nobody knows your past, you're literally a mystery- no one has to know you get really nervous in social settings. I used to feel that way as well, but no one at my school knew since I pretended to be outgoing and started talking to the people in my classes and surprisingly, people saw me as an extrovert. (:

I'm going into 6th, Our school has 183 kids... In my school since it's small, everyone notices a new kid, I always cross my fingers that there's a new kid that year, But, Just be yourself, If you get nervous, that's normal, Maybe try and make some friends before school starts Maybe? If you have already started, I hope it went well!!!

Honestly I feel like freshman year is the easiest year to be new because there are people that also don’t know anyone also and sophomore , junior, and senior year they already made up their group of friends but it may just be perspective 🤷🏻♀️

A tip for anyone changing schools, just FAKE IT UNTIL YOU MAKE IT.
I don’t mean be nasty, but if you are feeling horrible and want to cry, put on a bright smile on the outside and curse everyone inside. Also, make sure you meet people vibes. Ask yourself, do I meet this persons vibe? No one wants to hang out with someone who doesn’t talk and looks like they are going to burst into tears. Bringing this point back to my first, just fake it. No one has to know, and soon enough you will have lots of lovely friends ❤ Good luck!

Confidence is key for starting a new school and if your not the most confident just fake it till you make it. Also don’t be afraid to talk, nobody knows much about you and it’s a good first impression If your socializing. Just be you and don’t hide your humor, and try to be positive because people are more attracted to happy people.

I'm moving this year from a very small school to a medium sized school and I am nervous. At my tiny school it is much more calm than stories I've heard from other schools. A friend of mine that comes from a different school tells me about how they were heavily bullied. I haven't ever been heavily bullied. Is it more likely to happen in bigger schools?? Do you lose contact with close friends when you move?

ik this is so old but i just started going to a new school two days ago as a junior and let me just tell you i feel so fucking lonely and sad. there aren’t any familiar faces and i just really miss my friends so much. it sucks going into a classroom and not having someone to sit next to or at least socialize with. and whenever i walk the halls i feel so small and lost. ofc i’ve had people come up to me and talk to me and the convo was pretty okay but i would more so consider them acquaintances than “friends”. not only that but i go to a school in a whole other borough and being there made me realize how different it is from my town. in my old town it was easy to make friends, everyone was cool and we understood our humor or the way we talked and we were all weird, but in this school i find it hard to click with people and they’re all just so overly sensitive that ik i cant pull out my dark humor on them. not only that but most of them just seem so straight faced and they’re like a creepy kind of weird. all i know is that no one can replace my friends and i just wish i had them with me. ik i just started so i have a lot more time to meet different and more ppl but rn i just feel hopeless
