  • Thanks so much for stopping by! In this video I tackled the trim around the windows in our master bedroom. I love doing trim carpentry and have redone the entire first floor of our house. Crown moulding, baseboards, window and door casing, wainscotting, chair rail, we love it all. I’m ready to start on the second floor and we are starting in the master bedroom. Due to the arch in this set of windows, I have been putting it off for a while but I finally built up the courage to get it done. I found this website flexiblemillwork.com and they made ordering the piece for the arch so easy! I worked with Dan who was super responsive and helpful throughout the process. Their prices are reasonable and the shipping was fast. They are not a sponsor but I wish they were! My very first CZcams post was the bay window in our kitchen. I really enjoyed making this video because I think it shows how far I’ve come since then! Let me know what you think in the comments and please like, share, subscribe, fist bump, etc.
    I love CA glue! It's my favorite tool in the shop. Go to starbond.com and use code "RLL21" for 10% off Starbond products!

    Great job. This gives it such a high-quality look. I can't believe after 30 years of making stuff this was the first time I have heard of flexible molding. I always did it the hard way. I will have to check in to that. Thanks for sharing.

      Thanks for watching and commenting! Glad I could share a bit of info. Did you cut a bunch of kerfs and bend it that way?

    • @indycustommade3568
      @indycustommade3568 Před 3 lety +1

      @@RLLWoodworks I think cutting kerfs would drive me crazy with trying to get the right angles. I use a couple different methods. Take some hardwood cut at certain angles and finger glue them together. Then I cut it to size. I have also used plywood and glue them together to get the size I need. The last was steaming lumber. That one is time-consuming. Sorry I didn't want to make this too detailed. It would have been a long post. I still like your way of doing it. It definitely makes it easier. I haven't had the chance to go through their website yet but will look into that.

      @@RLLWoodworks I wouldn't go that far. I appreciate the comment. I think that everyone learns a little bit from everyone. Before CZcams if you wanted to make something you had to learn from mistakes. Now with CZcams you can watch other makers and come away with some good tips and ideas. Just like finding out about the flexible molding that you used. So well done back to you.

    Any knowledge about how long “CA glue” last in years? How does it accept latex and oil based paint? Does “CA glue” hold any structural properties? Jw be sometimes quick help tools aren’t worth it in the long term. Thanks for the video!

    • @RLLWoodworks
      @RLLWoodworks  Před 2 lety

      These are great questions!! I’ve been using it for about 3 years and have some projects where it’s still holding up great. Never had an issue painting over it and I feel it is very strong but when used on wood, I think wood glue would probably be stronger if clamped and dried properly. Thanks for commenting!

    • @RLLWoodworks
      @RLLWoodworks  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes sir! The exact measurement is 1-1/16” x 3-1/2”. The item number is WBNRB3 on flexiblemillwork.com. This should match the RB3 casing you can buy at the big box stores. Hope this helps but let me know if not. Thanks!
