ባሳለፍነው 20ና 30 አመታት ኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ በጨዋነት፣ በታታሪነት፣ በፅናት፣ በታማኝነት የሚወዳደርህ አንድም የለም። ሳቂታ፣ ሽቁጥቁጥ፣ የማይሰበር፣ ሰርቶ የሚያሰራ፣ የኢትዮጵያዊነት መለኪያ፣ ባያድለን ነው እንጅ ከሰማይ በታች የዘመናችን አርማ አንተ ነህ። ሃይሌ ፈጣሪ ያሰብከውን ሁሉ ያሳካልህ፣ ለሃገሬ ስላበረከትከው ሁሉ ከልቤ አመሰግናለሁ። እድሜ ይጥህ፣ ልጆችህን ይባርክልህ።

I met Haile in person at his Haile Grand Hotel in Addis Ababa during my visit. I was with my husband and son. He approached us and greeted us with respect. It was clear then that he is a respectful man. Long live Haile Gebreselassie!
