I pretty much grew up with Marty. First heard this song in the mid 60's. Was so great then and still just as great Marty is very proud of his son. He's keeping his dad's music alive.
Got to hear Ronnie in marietta, Ohio and he is so gifted.Was upset with him for sometime when he didn't carry on his dad's legacy.............until I learned he's working for the Lord now. I am sad however to say as country mucis fans we lost a lot. It was100 gegrees in the shade and I was judging a dairy goat show under a tin roof so when we had an imediate cloud burst after I was honored to soak up the music and the rain.

Probably the best version I have ever heard. Joe Stampley's kid is really good too, but he is concidered Outlaw, so he doesn't get airtime in the mainstream. His name is Tony Stampley. Search his song "I Hate To See You Leave, But I Love To Watch You Go" Great song.
He has got a great VOICE! He is his own person-if you let him to be!!! Maybe he should change his name to Rock n Roll!!! or Regally Raunchy-hey Roy Rogers!!! Robert Ritter!!!! Robert Redford!!! It is good that he can be proud of his father. They BOTH have AMAZING talent. But they are 2 individual people. They can listen to him rather than compare the two. I guess too-its like Julian Lennon did not get his identity in his own right either.

Ronnie is not supposed to be Marty. As excellent as Marty was, had Ronnie been the only one of the two to record, Ronnie would have made it big. Marty casts a big shadow. Ronnie benefited from his father's influence and by inheriting his voice, but ironically, it was Ronnie's misfortune to have been born as Marty Robbins, Jr. and for sounding so much like him. Too many want the children to be a reincarnation of a famous parent.
