just to add even more to this factual train, wolf pups, unlike dogs, show a fear response to humans well past nine weeks old. Puppies, contrastingly, not only show a lack of fear from as young as four weeks - they actively seek human companionship.

Well, wolves were used for hunting and dogs have saved lives, they're basically the best companions humans could ever have.
Felines were arguably more important for established societies as they actively kept vermin away which ate our food and spread disease.
This is just plausible enough that I'm gonna tell my kids that's how it happened.
Despite condensing tens of thousands of years of co-evolutionary history into the B story of a 22 minute cartoon, this kind of *is* how it went down.

Sorry cats are just lower maintenance especially in the bathroom department. They however will only give you affection if they feel like it, dogs live and die by their owner's attention.

The opposite, we enslaved them and them genetically modified them via selecting breeding to the point they would all go extinct the moment humans are gone because they can't by design survive in the wild. Now many "normal" breeds are deformed, unhealthy, too fat, too little, too stupid, etc. The dog was a hunter companion, and was also liked by humans due to his instinctive loyalty to the alpha male of the wolf pack and their territoriality made them a tool to provide security. .
If he thinks this deal is one sided, wait until cats show up.

It's not 100% wrong, the wolves approached the cavemen because of the leftover food, as wolves are very smart they adapted to being kind to humans because they saw that they received food without having to try very hard, of course It's the result of thousands of years of crossing wolves and keeping only those that were sweetest and most obedient, but it's still interesting to mention how it was done and the same is being done with foxes.
This was my favourite episode of the series, that isn't to say the rest are bad. Theyre all fighting for supremacy!

That’s a little inaccurate we did get dogs from wolves but the species of wolves alive today are a different subspecies. The wolf that became the modern day domesticated dog is now extinct but other others lived on which is why we still have wolf-dog hybrids

This joke feels like it would work better with cats. Dogs hunt with and for us, protect our houses, help tracking and fighting our enemies. Cats eat pests of course, they are very usefull. But we get a lot more from dogs than from cats, and I say while being more of a "cat person".
