Most of what the CIA gets up to legitimately sounds like the ravings of the craziest of conspiracy theorists if it wasn't for the fact that they themselves quietly declassified it. They've basically been relying on the public assuming belief in a rational universe where their government agencies wouldn't behave like supervillains. And it kind of shows the differences between Lana and Archer and the circumstances where Archer is actually the more knowledgeable one. Lana is the rational one, she has a grasp on common sense that Archer frequently just glosses over or flat out doesn't know. The man cannot even remember which countries fought on which side in WW2. But Archer's specialty has always been in the weirdly specific nonsense that you'd never expect of him, and when it comes to declassified CIA projects, that's one of those circumstances where completely unhinged knowledge beats common sense.
