the joke is that annie only attended the class for setting up jokes, but never got around to learning about punchlines. so when she goes "the professor is so old..." it sounds like she's setting up a joke so the study group, and the audience expects that to be followed up with a punchline - but like she said, she dropped the class after set ups. so we don't get a punchline and THAT becomes the joke. :)
