Dreaming Music Freddie always admired Montserrat, when they met she asked him to write a song about her hometown Barcelona. This was in 1987, the song got so big it was chosen as the theme fro the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. Freddie had died the year before Montserrat refused to sing the song with anyone else so they played the video and she sang a song called "Amigos para siempre" (Friends forever) with Spanish tenor Jose Carreras. Montserrat was one of the few people to whom Freddie confided his illness he truly loved and trusted her. She said he was a totally different person from his stage persona. Montserrat died in 2018. She was a great soprano, was known as La Magnifica.

"...we will meet again, some day..." Freddie and Monserrat were very good friends...at the beginning Monserrat didn't want to sing with Freddie...she said...I'm old and fat...Freddie was astonished by the incredible voice of Monserrat and he convinced her to sing together...this is one of the greatest performances of all times! Unfortunately Freddie hadn't the time to perform "Phantom of the opera" he had planned to sing with her because he died at the young age of 45...the whole world still misses and will miss forever the best rock vocalist of all times! I'm 54 and I grew up listening to Queen and Freddie...I know each song of Queen and I think Freddie is a music genius and nobody can compare to him!

Queen front man was freddie mercury they are a rock band. Freddie did dabble in other types of music like this song Barcelona. Another 1 he did as a solo was living on my own filmed during a house party he threw. Check that 1 out he did it for fun. People started to fear he was leaving queen but during a concert he put the rumours to bed saying that they would never split up.

Freddy loved Montserrat's voice and asked to meet her after one of her performances.
They spent all night singing at the hotel and Freddy said «I love music, and she is the music».
This song was used at the olympics of Barcelona'92, but she refused to sing without him.
Freddy said to her in '91 «I'm sorry, I'm not going to make it that long». He didn't.
    She died last year

Reaction to Freddie Exercises to free love . It was out on the B side of The great pretender . He wrote it before this but used it as a demo . It wasn’t written for her as people will say. It was just something he through together because he needed a B side but again he used it as a demo and told Montsy that is what he called her he told her he wrote it for her and you know even though it was before he might have right . But he told her he wrote it for her. .he was brilliant . He didn’t use orchestra because he wanted to control it but it has been since done by money hi hey ppl . His ppl.

in answer to your question, yes this was my first time hearing the song as well!
i'm glad the first time i did was in with the video format, because if i had only heard it audio, given my relatively minimal knowledge of queen, i would have taken the opera singer's inclusion as somewhat gimmicky (not in a *bad* way, but nevertheless). but it was not at all that! love the insights in the comments from other more knowledgeable viewers, too. and, as always, love experiencing it with you--feeling the music.
