"We have found in you natural allies on the enlargement of the European Union. A matter on which we took important decisions at the European Council last week, especially the opening of the accession talks for Ukraine and Moldavia. And as the war has returned to European continent, you share the vision that the accession of new members is in Europe's strategic interest. We are also united in giving Ukraine unwavering support in the long term, in all its dimensions - political, diplomatic, economic and military."

"Following (Russian President Vladimir) Putin's aggression on Ukraine and the threat on European security we have a common view on the importance of enlarging the EU to other countries. During the EU council this month, both of our countries supported the opening of accession talks with Ukraine and Moldavia. The support of Nuclear Energy is also a common view, and I appreciate the unequivocal support to Ukraine who is facing Putin and Russia's aggression for two years now. Both our countries are aware of the importance of continuous support to Ukraine and the risks of a possible Russian success."

STORYLINE:
Czech President Petr Pavel on Wednesday held talks with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron in Paris.
During a news conference following the meeting, they both pledged support to Ukraine and for the enlargement of the European Union.
"Both our countries are aware of the importance of continuous support to Ukraine and the risks of a possible Russian success," said Pavel.
The meeting came at the start of a two-day visit to the French capital by Pavel.
As well as discussing Ukraine, the two leaders were also expected to discuss Gaza and the future of nuclear energy.
