- Spartan survived the racetrack, lived as a work horse, being sold for meat and still is one of the sweetest horses you'll ever meet. From Stringhalt to dislocated ribs, there was a lot for Dr. Doug to work on to get this horse living as comfortable as possible.

The leading organization, in my opinion, that has Veterinarians and Chiropractors that become Animal Chiropractors is the Animal Veterinary Chiropractic Association (AVCA) They have a website with a "Find a Doctor" tab/database: www.animalchiropractic.org
This a good resource for all that are looking for a well trained doctor near them.

Race horses are NOT work horses. I can't think of anything nice to say about the Amish. Spartan is a gorgeous elegant boy and the Amish certainly didn't deserve him. Thank you for saving him and giving him a loving home.
I don't understand any reason to use horse to plough this day and age . It is absolutely cruel .
@@florac6906 He would probably be used as a carriage horse. Belgium's are the plough horses. It's their job. What they were bred for.
As for the Armish too many of them treat their horses badly. It is the way they treat them, not the fact they use them for what they were bred for that is the problem.
They do not get veterinary help when it's need and carry on working them until its too late to treat them. Or are old. Then the horses end up in the slaughter pipe line.
The slaughter pipe line is terrible. Something I've learned a lot about from Horse Plus Rescue.
Its nothing like sending a horse to an abattoir in the UK.
Yes, I've heard they're very cruel. Animals are just things to them.
I have heard those gossiping lies about the Amish, too.
However none of you have any experience with the Amish. You just listen to the second hand lies and gossip.
I'm not a fan of the level, or lack thereof, of care given to horses that came from the Amish that I work on. However, this is a Standardbred racehorse, not a thoroughbred. I had a barn of standardbred racehorses (both pacers and trotters) on my book until gas went up and it was too far to travel. Thoroughbreds would likely do very poorly as cart horses on the road, and not saying it's right, but these standardbreds are raced pulling a person on hard surfaces, so at least they are as prepared for that rough life better than what most think of as a "racehorse."
I am a believer that horses can just sense moods, almost telepathicly
Every mammal can, they're called mirror neurons.
Spartan is such a gorgeous boy and he could absolutely tell you were helping him. These horses are so lucky to have you visit them!
I think people tend to forget that animals have muscles and bones just like us 😂 they are just as prone as we are. You are an absolutely beautiful soul for helping those we can’t communicate with. If not people like you, who else?! I hope your career leads you to do more good. ❤
Thank you so much betasail
That horse said thank you. He had sweet dreams of you after you gave him sweet relief.
Awww🙏🏻😊
God Bless these amazing people's I can tell the horse feel better" ❤❤❤
He most certainly did say thank you ❤❤❤❤
He may or may not know this but he’s communicating telepathically with the horse. I can hear the energy passing back and forth.
St Franis Assi syndrome
What a beautiful, gentle horse. Look at those big, kind eyes. All the things he's been through, and he still has a remarkable softness. Hope he finds a wonderful home❤
It's funny how horses know that he's trying to help him and he's just being a really good horse
🙏🏻😊👍🏼
I am amazed at how the horses stand still for the treatment; they know they are being helped. Wonderful work!
Spartan looked so relaxed and chill after the treatments.
❤ the way Dr Doug talks to the horses
Having spinal issues I understand the horse thanking Dr. Doug
After the 2nd adjustment he got a little scared but after the 3rd adjustment he understood what you were doing and was giving you signals. Such a good horse.
Thanks Emma, glad you could give feedback! 🙏🏻👍🏼
It’s as if the animals realize after the first minute or so of the adjustment that Dr. Doug is making them feel better and is a friend there to help them. It’s amazing to watch. Keep up the good work Dr. Doug!
Thank you so much Jimmy!
Definitely seems like a great guy ❤
Just like me: usually only takes a few adjustments (minutes) when I go to the chiropractor to 💐
I had no idea a horse could see a chiropractor. But hey as long as it helps the horse that’s awesome.
Thank you RESCUE and Dr. Doug. 💕
🙏🏻❤️
ooof i have a rib that goes out and that SUCKS i cant imagine having 3 and then putting saddle and rider weight on that. horse is very sweet and doc is amazing! gotta love a good adjustment!
And besides the pain, you can't even breathe right - yuck.
lol at 3:50 that crack made sparks look over at you like 'damn man.. wtf was that?"
This horse is my spirit animal. 😂 I have ribs that pop out all the time. I can honestly say I know how he felt after getting them back in. ❤❤❤
Awww!
Dr. Doug, I absolutely love watching your videos and greatly appreciate the relief that you provide these beautiful creatures. Since your patients can’t speak to let you know what is bothering them physically, you let their bodies (bones, muscles, etc)speak for them. What you do for your patients is truly amazing! Thank you for all that you do!💕😊👍👏🥇💕
This takes so much strength and energy to adjust a large animal like horse. Thank you Doug for doing all the wonderful works for the rescue horses ❤❤
the way the horse glanced at him after the first adjustment
the horse looks at him like yeah you got it thank you
You're amazing
God bless you
Thank you for the blessing
How can anyone just throw away a horse... He's pretty happy now I think. Cheers Doc.
Because they eat a sizeable car payment or more each month😂
Sounds like it was going to be butchered out, so not really throwing away. Just livestock.
Not for the first time that I've seen a big horse, hurt, discarded and rescued after the amish used them. I'm just happy that some animals are lucky to be rescued after they've been used and have no more value for those that treat animals like machines or something to profit from. But even more lucky, they get you visiting! Your calm demeanor really helps, plus we all learn alot from you 😊❤
Spartan's poor body needed a lot of adjustments. Now his energy can flow better and he can move with less pain. I bet by tomorrow he will feel like he had a spa day. :D Bless!
Spartan is doing well! Such a great horse thank you Yorkist!
Can't imagine how painful it was for Spartan to have a saddle on him while his ribs were out. Great work, Dr. Doug! I'm sure Spartan thanks you!
I've popped a rib out. 6 mos of doctors not being able to help me. Then I met my ANGEL SPORTS CHIROPRACTOR.... My rib would poke me if I took too deep of a breath.. IT HURT A LOT, CONSTANTLY...
I‘m so sorry deirdrecorey
Have a messed up rib too. Since July.
This guy has a natural born talent....We have dominion over animals that's why we should respect , protect and help them whenever we can, City or Country living.
Thanks for your thoughtful words Italianman
Very gentle and sweet mannered horse. He's more Lord Byron to me than a Spartan. He has nothing brutal. Only elegance. You cracked him a lot Dr. Willen 💎
Wonderful said! 🙏🏻
You should always ask your horse if they mind if you ride them, if you don’t get a response take it as a NO !!! Just love and appreciate them for what they are and not for what they can do for you !!
Really!
Yes we should have respect and care of all animals, but we do have dominion over them.
Who's the boss you or the animal. The attitude they are equal is why we have dangerous or badly behaved dogs and horses.
Spartan is such a lovely horse .,He was so calm when you were doing all the "cracks" he just seemed to know you were helping him . great video as always Dr Doug .
Thanks Elaine
you treat these animals so beautifuly I love you
You are just so darn good with the horses !!!!
He looked so relieved and definitely welcomed your help. I would love to see an update on him at some point 😊
Next time I‘ll go to Bergen, I’ll check on Spartan!
Spartan seems to be a lovely mannered boy. I hope he continues to feel better.
He's A Beautiful Horse And I Know He Feels So Much Better. Thanks Doc
Spartan seems very sad & hurt. This horse fell & it's ribs popped out (same thing happened to my friend). The problem with these injuries is they often misalign again because the muscles are inflamed. Like humans great care needs to be taken afterwards, massage & topical creams can help in the healing process. Amazing AMAZING PEOPLE, thank you.
Dr Doug, thank you for making Spartan feel so much better. I SO appreciate the work you do! ♥
Thanks for your support Margot!
@@AnimalCrackerDrDougWillen you are SO welcome Dr Doug :)
I noticed he thanked you after you adjusted his ribs.
Thank you for the video. Spartan is lucky to have been in your presence.

Horses are such amazing creatures
Dr Willen, it was so nice 👍 to catch with you tonight. I remember Spartan from before, he’s a beautiful horse 🐎. I love your impersonations 🤣, you do them perfectly 👌. Everything that you did for him with your magic hands was awesome 👏, especially pushing his ribs into place. Enjoy your Sunday and have a nice week doc
Thank you Emma! Nice Monday!
This is such a good horse and you can tell how much relief he felt by the end ❤
I could watch this sort of stuff all day. So interesting. Like he has an exray vision... A person who has found their chosen kraft and is full of love. I am learning the world has many great people!
You are a Blessing Doctor. Thank You for taking the pain out of this Beautiful animal.
Way to go, Spartan!
Thank you hey!

👍🏼🙏🏻
Good job 👍
I hope that someone one day does a highlight montage of all of your re enactments of gate issues. You are very accurate, Dr. Doug.
Bless your heart, man. You teach us and make us laugh at the same time.
Legend.

I love what you’re doing and a great human being
Handsome boy
What a BEAUTIFUL horse!
Bonjour Docteur, à chaque fois que je regarde une de vos vidéos, je suis heureux pour les animaux, pour vous,, pour moi. Votre métier est une vocation et est merveilleux. Merci.
Merci tellement pour vos gentils mots Coeurone! Ça me fait très plaisir.
As usual, you are a hero Dr Doug. Sending love
He gave you a hug with his head against your noggin
Wow Spartan had allot of big cracks for us to listen to 😮 Such a nice horse 🐎 another job well done DrDoug 👍
Thank you Affinity, glad you could watch this one.
That boy's mouth and facial expressions told a good story as you worked him over. What a good lookin' boy him are.
Absolutely AMAZING!! 💙
2:39 Your induction into the Ministry of Funny Walks, sir, has been accepted.
Monty Python?
Handsom Spartan 💛 I'm sure he feels so much better! Thank you for all you do, Dr.
This is great, Doc. Love these videos and how you'are able to treat these animals.
So glad you love the videos thank you R, I appreciate it.
What a sweet soul Spartan is ❤ and you could see what relief he got from those adjustments. He knew you were there to help. Keep doing what you're doing Dr. Doug. Amazing work!
Such a kind dr.
What a beautiful horse ❤
I could see the ribs sticking up before you adjusted them and it immediately smoothed out when you got the last one! I bet that saddle is going to feel much better now!❤
Amen. He was a good client. Bet he felt much better. Thank you.
Great job, sir.
Handsome boy. Love Standardbreds.❤
I bet you needed a nap after that workout. He had a lot going on, and you hit it all. He even thanked you. Great job Dr Doug
Yup! 🥱
I saw him do it the first walk around. He hitched his right hind leg a little. I notice gates because my Mother raised and showed German Shepherds for years and you just pick up a smooth gate as apposed to one that is not smooth, to put it simply. What a sweet horse. I'm so glad you helped him.
Thank you Doc
Great Job Doc!!! It is a pleasure to watch you give relief to all the animals you work on.😊
Thanks Christine, I appreciate your support.
I love Spartan! The first time I visited he looked me right in the eye ❤ Thank you for helping him feel better!
Awww 🙏🏻❤️
I just adore this work ❤
