I normally use gear 1 for better finish

And it will produce a better finish, I didn’t test that fully here. Still some tear out on the softwood but not nearly as bad.

I just replaced the shelix, the finish is good, wont say its much better than a sharp straight blade but its good enough. But I noticed its not really flat cross the board, I reinstalled all the cutters 3 times , got rid of the lines, but I still can feel the high and low spot cross the board, is that just the nature of this kind of cutter head?

Hey Gerald! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. From my install, on hardwood, the finish is quite smooth. That being said, helical blades will always have some dishing and scalloping because of the way they cut. But it shouldn’t be very noticeable and well within a 220 grit touch up. Does it feel within sanding range for you or more severe?
