I went to school with April. We had German class together and she sat next to me. I saw the ambulance on the trail when coming home the night she was found. To the helicopters and police teams searching the streets that night. This tragedy shocked our small town. It’s absolutely devastating and years later still haunts me, and our community. She didn’t deserve this, she was such a bright, happy, wonderful girl.
As an edit: Penny sadly passed away recently at an old age of 18 years old. It’s bring me some solace knowing her and April are reunited❤️

If you see a situation where a young person looks uncomfortable, scared etc... just ask them if they're ok. It's better to get told to fuck off & mind your own business, than to say nothing & find out later the person was murdered.

I agree a thousand times! I encountered a situation on a train a few years ago. I am a mother of 5 and I would hope someone would look out for one of my kids in a tough situation.
There was a young girl, maybe 14, sitting a few seats away from me. Nearby there was an obviously grown man who kept talking to her, he had even moved from his seat to hover by her. We were the only people in that car. I watched her body language for a few minutes and realized she was incredibly uncomfortable. I know when I was that you I wasn't really able to speak up for myself. Anyway, after him telling her she smelled nice 🤮 and asking what perfume she was wearing I spoke up. I asked him why he was harassing a little girl when she obviously wasn't enjoying his attention. He immediately got defensive. He actually threatened to have his girlfriend kick my ass when we got to his stop. I asked him if his girlfriend minded him preying on little girls? I told him he was welcome to bring it on. Eventually he got off. The girl didn't say much and, honestly, I imagine she was just really uncomfortable.
My daughter (23 years old) and her boyfriend had to pull over late at night not too long ago and help a woman getting beat by a man on the side of the road. I absolutely refuse to live my life doing nothing if I am able to help.

I agree! I recently came across a very young mother with a baby being yelled at and screamed at, in public with no else around but me though, by who I can only assume is/was a partner of hers. She was tiny and he was so tall and also built quite large, so fir this I worried he would easily be able to harm her if he wanted to. I kept my distance but watched to feel out the situation for a couple of minutes, while he proceeded to yell at her and talk down to her so badly. I finally built up the courage to walk up to them. I intentionally came from his back side and facing her. I probably looked like a lunatic, but I was locking eyes with her and winking sooooo much and just hoping that she would catch on. I then proceeded to pretend to know her and I was like 'hey girl!!!" and walked right up to her and hugged her and whispered in her ear "If you're safe I will leave but if you're in danger squeeze me right now." She said "I'm ok girl! It was sooo good to see you again!" I did walk away, and I hope to goodness that she and the child are ok, but I would have not been able to sleep that night had I not at least tried to make sure she was ok. Had she needed/wanted help, I am so glad that I did that, but I didn't want to force her or make the situation worse for her.

You know, the truly scary thing is that if she HAD been saved by someone on a bike, the police wouldn’t have done anything to him if she reported him for being creepy. He’d be free and do the same thing another time or do the same to someone else. Or he’d see some small consequences and be even angrier the next time. People get robbed while they are on the phone all the time. If you're talking on the phone, you aren't as alert to your surroundings. Same w/ taking a video, if the perpetrator doesn't know you're doing it: Here's a video of the guy who is going to kill me in a few mins. You won't actually see him do it, b/c I'll drop the phone about 45 seconds before he kills me, at the point where he pins my hands to the ground behind my head. But rest assured, it'll be him. A couple of inconsistencies I noticed:
    1. No one mentioned how the dog played a part in it, she could have easily scared the monster away
    2. There were no motorcycle tracks perhaps because he left the bike a way behind while he started attacking the girl - why was this not mentioned as a possibility?
    3. Witnesses said they saw him “walking” just a few feet behind her. Did he already ditch the bike? Would explain the point above of no bike tracks near the scene of the crime
    4. Some witnesses said they saw him “looking angry” while behind her - so he didn’t have his helmet on at this time, also meaning he likely was not on his bike
    5. If he had his helmet with him, then he might have worn it when he started wrestling with her, hence why no DNA was found. Eleanor mentioned wearing face-covering bike gear, but could easily have been his own helmet, that he later took off to beat her with
    6. Of course it’s an ugly dude whose gf is pregnant and he feel sexually starved so starts looking up how to lure younger girls to his dick. I cannot and will not understand men who go that route (shockingly common) when their gf is carrying their own fucking child.
I know they’d had a baby by this point, but the obsession likely started during pregnancy and he likely just spiralled by this point.
Also - honourable mention to the police, what legends for doing the absolutely maximum whilst being so severely understaffed!

They'll bite then run usually. Even when you get a dog bred for defense from a long line, only a 1 or a couple from the little will come out with the fortitude to do such and then they need training to boot most of the time. However, dogs are very loyal. Whether or not Penny tried to defend, we'll never know but regardless, she stayed close enough for her to be found and that is still huge. This case resonates with me so much. I'm someone that regularly goes for runs with my dog, uses an app to gps track my pace, distance etc. I run to 'get my steps in'. I do think about this kind of stuff in the back of my mind sometimes. I have the friendliest dog in the world. Not to other dogs but to humans she's the biggest baby. I think about how she probably wouldn't be able to protect me if something like this were to happen. I feel I'm athletic enough to outrun humans but a bike or motorized one? Not a chance. I really should start bringing my knife or pepperspray with me because you really never know.

Yes I do understand your comment completely and I understand how damaging it is to hear people saying "not all men" and deflecting from the literal case of a MAN killing a GIRL. I'm emphasising those gender roles because it's YOU who doesn't understand what you're saying, and obviously you don't want to understand because instead of trying to see my perspective your ego decides to bring you up to "the best" and me as a "snowflake". Obviously your sympathies lie first with the perpetrators and not the victims, because if your sympathies were with the victim then you wouldn't go on to blame some hypothetical people for hypothetical crimes. You have only said one supportive thing about the victim which is "the little angel who shouldnt have gone through what she went through" only as a defense for yourself after I called you out. Your comment mocking women which I quoted above was mentioned before your words about the victim, and so were your "not all men" comments. It shows where your priorities are when it takes you that long to defend the victim but in the same sentence you deflect from the real death of a real girl to reiterate your views of "and yes all men are not rapist just like how all women are not the victim. I also like how she really puts into perspective the difficulty of building a strong case. Commentators on social media like to pretend they know who's guilty and "burn them at the sake" but we have due process for a reason. to make sure the innocent go free and the guilty don't get away on technicalities. It is sad that such horrific things happen in this world & we have to expose our children to it.
However we have to teach them to be safe as early & as often as possible.
They need to know to stay away from strangers no matter what they offer or promise.
How to scream, yell, run away & get peoples attention if they are in trouble.
How to call 911, thier address& phone number as soon as they can learn it.
To tell an adult if someone is hurting or touching you, even if they threaten you.
It's so important to educate children to be safe & be prepared in bad situations.
We had a "password" that would change frequently when mine was little.
If someone wants you to go with them but they don't know the password then you don't go!
Nor do you listen to that person. Even if you know them or have seen them with me before.
Its scary to think about and hard to do but it is so worth it.
I would much rather be safe then sorry.

      "Blue balls" is actually real.
The medical term is Epididymal Hypertension.
It is caused by a prolonged increase of blood flow into the veins of the sexual organs (penis or vulva) without "relief".
This condition effects females as well.
It also can be painful but it is not dangerous.
DO NOT LET anyone use this to guilt you into anything you don't feel comfortable with doing.
If it is that painful for them, they can easily relieve the "pressure" themselves.
