  • Guido at ‪@GenuineSoundware‬ has taken customer feedback he has received over the years culminating in the release of VB3-II 2023 edition. Guido has rebuilt VB3-II 2023 edition from the ground up, refining the GUI and bringing back the original VB3 tone generator engine as an option for those who prefer it. Has also introduced new features as an audio/MIDI input so that you can route other audio sources into the VB3-II 2023 engine for effects and processing.
    The upcoming iOS version (free for users of the desktop version) will allow you to take your tonewheel sounds on the road.
    VB3-II 2023 edition will be FREE for current VB3-II owners with a very generous upgrade price for original VB3 users.

    YAY GUIDO!!!! ( 'nuff said). Thank you so much Simeon for a great video presentation. I also just went over to GSi's website, downloaded the new update, and read all the new 2023 version features. Blown away that along with the add-in inclusion of VB1.1 organ/leslie engines, and delay & Ring Mod effects and limiter, ...we now have an audio input (player) and ...an audio file recorder, multi-outputs, MIDI controller support for leslie speed and expession pedal "curves", and ...a drawbar "vocoder"? YOW!

    VB3 is simply the best sounding next to a well maintained B3! It emulates the feel we know and love. There are many clones on the market, but a lot of them lack warmth.

      Thank you Glen, Guido has poured so much into this update and it shows his dedication to make his instruments as flexible and playable as they can be. And, yeah, the D9-X is a great match for the VB3- II as it helps get your hands on things.
      I also recently added one of the half-moon switches for my speaker speed control and it is a lot of fun.
      Joyfully yours!

    Loving your choice of intro jam. Yessir.
    Will download the update and test it out. Wondering if I can use my XB3c as controller since it does midi sys-ex instead of cc. Also what about improvements to the Leslie effect. I own a Neo Vent II and I was wondering if I get the GSI Rotary tweaked to be close to that. The Vent screams as close to a real cabinet as you can get.
    Thank again for sharing this run through.

      The amount of functionality Guido has put into this I think this would be doable. He went so far to create a custom scripting language for the purpose of helping to setup nonstandard keyboard controller interfaces so it would seem this would include some sort of sysex options to set it up.
      I will see if I can find out any additional information for you.
      Thanks for the kind support.

    Thanks for the vid. Do you happen to know whether the current Mojo line will be updated too? I understand that all hardware organs are already up to date, but I really need that Marshall amp sim (at least on the Mojo 61, you can't change the Hammond engine's amp)! I hope Crumar will at least give us the new (old) Leslie and Marshall simulations.

    This is out for iPad now - my big question is, is this the one? Or is IK Multimedia’s Hammond B-3X the better one? Waiting for Black Friday to choose one, since Galileo is now ruined for me.
    (Resource utilization is a factor, as for me it’s one of a few layers of instruments in a live setup. This one’s cross-platform licensing is a very nice-to-have.)

    • @PraiseTracks
      @PraiseTracks  Před 7 měsíci

      Guido has done a lot of tweaking in rebuilding the engine from the ground up, so I am sure there are some optimizations in the overall code. He also gives us some insane detail of control, especially using various MIDI controllers. Also, the cloud settings and preset exchange is pretty cool, especially if you are using the iPad version along with a desktop version.
      I am not sure if there is a demo version available but ultimately that would be a way to discover what the performance is like in your situation. I will check and see.
      Thanks for watching.

    I would also be very curious to hear the hammond b3x on some direct comparisons. Its often hard to tell when just listening to one, but Ive noticed in most cases when the hammond is played with other tonewheels the hammond almost has a brightness level that others never quite get, yet retaining its power. I haven't heard the VB3 - 2 vs the Hammond but I suspect the same would be the case and that is why most wind up going for the Hammond, especially with the pricepoint now being much closer, 100 to 130 is not a big difference. I would be interested in any correction to this from anyone who may have or have tried both.

    • @PraiseTracks

    Just wondering since you did a feature on the Hammond b3x , why would anyone choose the vb3-2 instead?

    • @PraiseTracks
      @PraiseTracks  Před 6 měsíci +1

      It would be similar to all of the piano, guitar, strings, and brass instruments you also see on the channel. Truly each one has its own individuality due to the particular developer's style, programming approach, musicality, so many factors technically and personally. I would say that even if you had a few physical B-3 and Leslie speaker pairs that there would certainly be differences and aspects that might cause you to gravitate toward one in particular and not so much the others.
      Having choice is vital as it helps us to find our own sound.
      I have been working with Guido and his instruments for so many years and truly appreciate what he continues to accomplish in listening to his user base in improving his instruments.
      You would choose VB3 II because the sound resonated with you. There might be something in the way you can select different presets and effects that are different from the B3X.
      You might need the specific way that VB3 II implements its MIDI functionality.
      There are truly no wrong answers as each instrument has a place.
      Thanks so much for watching and I do hope you enjoy the content and explorations. Joyfully yours.

    • @artie218
      @artie218 Před 6 měsíci +1

      Thank you for your quick and detailed response and I agree with most of what you say but I also would say there are definite software choices that do a better job at sounding like a real world organ , mostly Hammond is the goal , and I think to say a version that sounds as bad as many of the rompler work stations is going to lose to the b3x or the VB3m or the blue3 is an objective choice in that the only time the builtin rompler is chosen is a matter of convenience and maybe the music style doesn’t feature the organ much.. I think there is a value in giving an informed opinion from those who’ve tried the software more than just the “we report , YOU decide. “ style .. There’s real value in pointing out sounds that miss the mark as well..
