TV Wall Niche for 75" TV - Time Lapse Build Over 11 Days
Vložit
- čas přidán 7. 05. 2019
- This video covers a TV Wall Niche we built in our new house over the course of 35 days, it actually only took about 12 days total, but spread out over 35 days.
I have never done anything like this before, but I knew what I wanted, I did not want some small box mounted on the wall that surrounded the TV, I wanted a large extension mounted to the existing wall, with extra shelfing for a sound bar, Foxtel unit & DvD player.
I was up at 6am every day, and worked on the house side by side with the tradesmen for a month, to get all of this footage.
I also spent 4 days editing this video as i had so much footage to go through.
This is the biggest project I have ever done, both in labour and video editing.
I am very happy and proud of the results of both the niche and this video, I hope you enjoy it.
Thanks for watching.

I am all done with renovating my new house and I am back to making videos, *I AM BACK, LETS GO!!!*
Oh I thought this was worth mentioning, as I am proud of the fact, since starting the house hunting, cleaning, selling, buying, renovating process in January to now May, *I have lost 15 kg in weight,* not only have I been on a diet, but all the manual labor at both houses, has run me ragged, I have never worked so hard in my life.
I have been a desk jockey all my life, working on computers, my body does not really know what manual labor is, well it learnt the hard way over the last 4 months.
Congratss on everythingggg!!
Can you tell us what mount you used. I am building the same thing and I need a mount that does not sag down when I move the TV off out to be level. (I am in Oz).
@@MattHyne sorry for late reply, buy this comment was not in my inbox, I did not dick around with mount, i just bought the most heavy duty mount they had $200+ I think it was
Good choice of music
very soothing and gentle
how did you find this track?

Building one on my own. I am now at the recessed TV portion. Thanks for all the helpful footage! Yours looks great.
WHOA! Now that’s a movie room!!! Excellent job and superb video! Bravo!
looks stunning fair play 👌
Damn, that's a tight fit! Looks great though, well done
Lovely job . Enjoy.
Very nice!
damn nice !!!
Cool video!!!...🤙😎🤘
Cheese and rice! That came out nice 👌
Nice mate!!
I think it looks awesome
Well Done. This video is giving me inspiration. Thanks for sharing this project.
Sure mate, it was really not that hard to design and did not cost much, just took awhile to get made. But I am so proud of the end result.
Great job, it looks awesome! That was alot of work.
Thanks
Very cool
nice recessed wall.
Amazing job
Very nice mate.... Kinda want to do the same thing when man cave finished properly
Amazing!! i need dat in my life, wish me luck :D
I don’t care how many days it’s took, that’s was a great job ... you got me subscribe to your channel.
Good to see you!
Thanks Rac
Amazing 😍🤩
I'm jealous man it's so nice
Stop being jealous.. make one for yourself..
Nice setup
Thanks
Hey man really love it thats so awesome definitely different than your standard setup
yes i am happy with the outcome, everytime i walk in the front door i look at it with pride.
Welcome back!
Thanks mate :)
That's an amazing set up
Pretty close to 300k subscribers nicely done
yeah almost there, about another week
Nice! I like the metal colored paint (or grey xd)
Hey Berry, long time no see. Yeah it's like a coffee colour, was not sure how it would look, but it turned out nice.
@@WonderWorldYTC Looks great, and yea been a long time, been doing my own things and stuff... Glad stuff is turning out well for you, you deserve it.
Nice setup and good work. Can I ask, how does it sound with the Sub being behind the TV?
I like the idea of concealing it but doesn’t this affect the quality of the bass?
NIce! Looks great! I really don't get the led lighting under furniture though. I guess its just not my style though.
Amazing. I'm doing the exact same thing at the moment but with an electric fire place at the bottom.
Hi, Can you please show how that looks? As I want to do the same. Thanks
Move your subwoofer to behind your sofas. It will sound miles better than stuffed behind the TV.
ok I might try that, never thought to try.
@@WonderWorldYTC no worries. Subwoofers need room to breathe, so thry need to be out in the open somewhere. Don't forget to re run your room correction again.
Thanks alot for this video! I was confused on how to build one for my garage until now! Loved everything you done roughly how much was the recliner sofa? Im based in the UK
Great video and project. Very professional. I think maybe running the electric before drywalling would be a little easier. I would also use black or dark colored outlet covers instead of white. I like hiding everything for a clean look, so I would add a removable fine black mesh screen frame that hides the sound bar but doesn't obstruct the sound
the power points are not really noticeable being so deep and dark in the niche, but I know what you mean.
In the future you should make another small cubby at the bottom for the subwoofer that would make this unreal
Looks great, what tv bracket did you use??
HI. Great work. How many centimeters do you have extra space around the tv? I am thinking how much I need for my 75 inch tv, so it's not getting to warm.
THanks!
Great build for your entertainment pleasure!
I really liked that time lapse bud, keep up the great work and enjoy that new house!!
Thanks Mike
@@WonderWorldYTC beautiful work and which TV exactly? Is there a better version since this is 3 years ago, please?
@@privateundisclosed4448 it's a Sony, but don't buy those, I found it to be slow to respond in the menus, Samsung seems nicer, nice simple remote + you have access to Appple Tv on Samsung, you don't on Sony.
That looks absolutely awesome
How did you plaster the narrow niches , being so narrow must have been very hard . I’ve Never seen anyone use angle beads for internals ??? Always just taped up with scrim tape
Also did you not think about ventilation for the tv , could have mounted a usb powered fan , mounted in the bottom of tv niche , sucking in air from your narrow niche under neath and blowing air into void behind tv
It’s nice taking all that space just for a tv should add an electric fireplace under as well and was 100% done not bad but could be better my opinion any way good job and looking at the end 👍
Got the same soundbar
Put some sound insulation behind the Niche wall and the surrounding hollows should make the sound even better. And I would consider wood insert for the soundbar holes as the plasering will scratching or being scratched .
"And I would consider wood insert for the soundbar holes as the plastering will scratching or being scratched ." I thought of that, but they assured me it wouldn't and they are right, once the sound bar is in place you have no reason to ever move it there for it's not scratching anything.
End result looks awesome though it kind of looked like you did it the hard way. Still worked out. Cool video. Thank you.
I am not a builder, so no idea what the easy was vs hard way are
@@WonderWorldYTC Well I really apologize. I did not intend to insult. It may have taken you longer but the end result looks like it is the same. Awesome. If I ever wanted or want anything like that I used to go to the library, now go to a book store, and have to build them myself as 1st husband just would not, and 2nd husband I'd have to wait too long. So I learned how. Have done a few walls like that since the late 1990's. And hey, at least YOU DID it. You did not just sit there or call someone in. So really, I am giving you a compliment. Please take it as such? ✌️🙂🕊️✌️🙏
@@stormystars1087 no need to apologize, I did not feel insulted, I was just saying, I am clueless to what would have been an easier way.
@@WonderWorldYTC lol! That is why women use books or these days try finding on line. But it does not matter. I believe any man who will actually take the project on deserves to be fed like a King for about a month as well as other extra treats from his partner or wife. So I like to see this. Kudos Dude. 👊👍. Tell your partner she/he is exceptionally lucky.
Feed me a Pizza, can of coke and a chocolate bar after wards = satisfied :)
You’ll have to mention where that recliner is from! I’m looking for something just like that
Damn that’s awesome in my opinion you should buy two speakers and put each at the corner of the wall
yes looking into that
hi did the tv bracket have tilt function on it ,ifs so can you tell me what type it is ,pete
hi what sort of tv bracket did you use for the 75 inch.pete
Looks great! What kind of bracket did you use? I want the frame to be tight around the TV like this but can’t figure out how I would get the TV in with there being no room?
the biggest heavy duty TV bracket i could find, it cost $250, was of those scissor action brackets that allow you to move the Tv about.
Your TV is at the perfect height for watching TV while standing up. How high is the mid point of your TV, like 72 inches?
nice work btw you can also put led lights behind the tv
I thought of that, but did not want to, as I thought it would be distracting
The tv fills the hole entirely though so you wouldnt see the lights
You can adhere the lights around the TVs perimeter.
Did you have a difficult time with the tv mount and making sure fits perfectly inside the wall niche? Seems like most can’t adjust height of tv on mount so trying to figure out to make sure I install perfect so fits in niche perfect. Any tips? Did you experience this problem? Great work !
You can get a tv mount that is hight, width and depth adjustable off ebay, perfect for this type of install. Hope that helps. Very professional job guys, looks great. All the best, Pete. (Scotland UK) 👍
Fabrication requires real effort.
Starting from the wall itself.
I was wondering if a short cut is feasible.
Example direct mount the TV on the wall.
Then separately fix the side box unit on left and right then TOP and bottom.
It basically carries Low weight.
And it doubles as shelf if needed .
This Vs a single piece.
Vs a fabricated box on the ground and mounted after that.
How deep is the nitch holding the t v?
Looks good. Took forever. Are you paying the guy by the hour?
Curious why the flooring was cut away. That just leaves a hole in your flooring.
What happens when you have to replace your equipment. Do you redo the entire project?
Looks good though.
Thanks, and no they quoted for the job regardless of time, & materials, it only cost me $1500, I think he under quoted.
- we cut away the floor so the beams could be mounted to the concrete foundation to make it rock solid, and it was rock solid. Plus they are floating floor boards and will eventually need to be replaced, so no point leaving them under the unit.
- all equipment, TV, Soundbar, DVD Player, can be replaced with easy at anytime.
@@WonderWorldYTC 1500 isnt bad at all!
@@WonderWorldYTC holy moly, 1500 is a steal! Did they do the usual builders trick of quoting low and then adding ongoing costs though?
@@TheTruthKiwi no, this particular builder quotes a price and that's it, he stuck to the $1500 price, but I am sure it would have cost him more. in time.
Does a soundbar still work properly being inside a gap like that. Im sure sounbars have speakers going up
Sonos Arc soundbar requires 4 inches above (up firing speakers) and 1 ft. Left / Right so I suspect the sound depends on the specific soundbar chosen.
I does make make the sound better, when its inside the niche, I have one but with cabinet flushed to the wall, built in recessed outside extension for 60" TV. I will modify it to fit a 75" or bigger oled.
Hey.. What brand TV is that?
8:45 Mate get those legs tanned pronto! 🤣
Just wondering how much that cost 7 days labour wow
I always wondered how the acoustic are affected? Of both TV itself and soundbar when squished into the gaps.
I have a niche 6x4x2 ft for 60" TV, replaced with 77" a80j, mounted on wall mount articulating arm 26" extension. The sound cleaner, like concert hall effect, when both sub and soundbar are inside the niche. Just experiment on the best sounding location at the back of tv. I end up placing the sub at the back left corner and soundbar 6" at the back of TV bottom of niche. Soundbar Samsung Hw-a58c/za. Tuning the opening is like designing a speaker cabinet just experimenting it where is the best location of the speaker in the cabinet, listening until you get it to your liking. If I have to built it, like this guy, I would used the Trapezoid shape back, the sound will be more pronounced, projected infront, less distortion.
Great work! I’m based in Melbourne, was wondering what is the name of the company helped for handy works and carpeting as I’m planning todo similar project for our living room.cheers
name of company who made the niche is in the video i put on screen, but they had nothing to do with carpeting.
What size tv is yours dude. Just done this with a 19 inch tv in my bedroom. Living the dream mate :)
75" in Loungeroom, it says that in the title and thumbnail :)
Really i cant read i just look at pictures sorry mate. I am getting everything i need to do a 32in 3d glasses tv in my cinema room over a coal fire. Good video mate hope mine looks good
What is that brownish color?
Could you tell me the colour of that paint please
Where is their floor protection?
G’day mate, I’m looking for doing kind of the same plus an ethanol fireplace , wondering how much this costed. Thanks from Sydney
it only cost $1500, but I think he did not realise the amount of work required and under quoted, but he was a good guy and stuck to his quote.
Wonder World , thanks a lot, I must admit he did a good job with a good price. Beautiful home theater 👍
Really nice looks so good how much does something like this cost to do thanks
700-900 quid
How many inches of space did you give between the tv and the top, bottom and sides? Looks beautiful.
2:17 flassh crack
I would love the have the same new wall and tv job done, can you recommend someone clean and precise artist like yourself for me to contact. I live in the Manchester area. Many thanks in advance
no idea, I am in Australia. but just get 3 builders in and get quotes from each, and go with the one you felt would do the best job, not the best price.
I wonder if it reduces the value of the home since it's particular to the TV size.
well concidering we won't be selling for a long time, it's not a concern, plus it would be fairly easy to remove and put the wall back to how it was for probably only $1000 if even that. maybe even $500
Nice job please who did this job for you I leave in UK 🇬🇧 am looking for someone who can do for me the same can you suggest me to anyone who know to do this job properly please if anyone know someone who can do this let me know pls
How deep is it?
crazy how 75" isn't really a big screen any more just bought a 97 inch
Made a meal of that , 1 days work
lol 1 days work, like to see you try.
Wonder World ? Stud work takes 2 hours, board and skim 3 hours . Could literally build an entire kit house in a month .
What colour paint did you use on the tv niche?
it's a coffee colour, from Dulux - This is on the tin - CEYLONESE - EE 276 / LL 272 / M212
I think that's the colour mix code
Wonder World ah thank you I’m based in the UK and have liked this colour before but not available here unfortunately. Anyways looks awesome the niche thanks for the reply
@@iPhoneTaxa no problem, thanks for stopping by and checking out my vid.
looks great but u could have had the same job for a tenth of the work involved here
could you tell me the boards you used?
the wood you mean? I don't know I did not buy it the builders did, but i assume 4x2" pine
Will the tv still get ventilated inside
1 year later it's still working fine
Man I really don’t know how to do anything with home improvement. I love watching these videos but when it comes to home improvement I have zero skills/idea what I’m doing. I can rebuild a car from the ground up but things like this intimidate me
1:55
ooh, empire level
Who would you contact to build something like this
people who specialise in home renovations or a Builder / home handyman
What if some day you change the size of your TV?? :)
doubt it. 75" is huge and cost $6000
@@WonderWorldYTC well, TV technology changes by the year!! I'm not rich or anything, I'm a minimum wager and I still change my TV every year!! From HD -> 3DTV -> 4K -> HDR. And each TV was less expensive than the one before....and bigger!!
@@LuisMendoza-pp9qi yes but sizes stay the same for the most part, so even if an 8k Tv comes out I doubt the dimensions will change much if any. and if need be i can always get a slightly smaller TV to fit in the area. I would not stress on it, it will be fine.
Looks nice but it took you so long. Im sure i could do it in 3 days.
I was thinking the same thing I feel like they where bleeding the clock
12 fucking days !
how much would you charge for setting one up for me lol
I doubt he would want to do another, and if he did, it will probably cost a lot more, $2500-3500 maybe
What happens when bigger tvs come out? Why didn't you just put a projector screen for real home cinema?
75" is pretty huge, and should be more than enough for that lounge room
@@WonderWorldYTC 75" is tiny once you experience 120". i could never go back!
You're calling this a wall home cinema yet they use a sound bar which cannot even provide good stereo sound let alone surround sound people need to think about this this is not a wall cinema this is merely a cavity in the wall for a TV a sound bar and components
😒
what happens when your tv breaks down and you buy a bigger TV?
o,r OR, I just buy the same size TV, 75" is FUCKING HUGE!!
It's BEAUTIFUL!! The only problem is, the next owners cannot have a TV bigger than 75 inches. It would have been nice if it was built to fit a larger tv, unless you're planning this house to be your forever home. You can always put a smaller tv in a 90 inch recess, but not a larger tv in a 68 inch recess. I'm not poo-pooing your job. It's magnificent work!!✨✨ I just stumbled over your video because I was searching for videos on ways to eliminate the older box-recesses that were built in older homes that fit tube tv's about 26 inches. I have two 86-inch tv's, and while searching for a new home, I've found a large number of homes have these old BOX recesses sitting above fireplaces that are completely useless for anybody with a modern tv, ....unless you're comfortable watching a 30 inch tv??? Nobody has videos on ways to eliminate these archaic box designs. Ugh.
WHY did it take so long ???? I've seen houses go up in 35 days. Seems like you could have recessed into the original wall to get some of he depth for the cable/dvd player. and not made the new cabinet stick so far out into the room. It seems like the wiring for cable/power was an afterthought too. It does look nice though.
no it was all talked over and debated how to do it and how it will be done, with both the electricians and the builders. nothing happen to we all agreed on how it was going to be made and functioned.
The final design is what we came up with. and it took as long as it took them to do, i was just an observer.
@@WonderWorldYTC What is the depth ?
Now you can never change tv unless it’s exactly the same size
of course I can, it's just plaster and wood, just rebuild it to a larger size I wanted to.
It looks beautiful, but this setup isn’t future proof at all. You’ve set yourself the limitations that your tv MUST be a specific size and thickness.
72" is huge that is fine, thickness is not set it's like 30cm deep huge amount of room.
Wonder World If you ever decide to go for a smaller TV in the future for [whatever] reason, you’ll have a huge border gap around your screen. And should you get a bigger screen than 72 inches, then you’re screwed.
@@FreeJulianAssangeNow then i will just stick with 72" :)
I've also thought of this. But making a niche for a 65 inch. However, now I am replanning to only make the niche big enough for the mount and hiding the wires... I didn't want to restrict myself to 65 inch tv. What if they stop making 65 inches?
That’s good work, but it looks like you’re limited with flexibility. Things change in the future. What if you want a bigger tv or have bigger techs like an Xbox.
why would you want bigger than 75" it's huge and as for xbox, simply plug it in
You did NOT put the subwoofer behind the tv 😮😮😮
That is the quickest way to mess up your tv's picture and signal !!!!!!!!
yes I did, why is that bad? So far it's been fine and it's been there a year now
hi
TV is way too high. It is eye level when you are standing. It should be slight higher than eye level when you are sitting.
It tilts down so you're looking straight at it.
....looks like a 65"
Sub supposed to be on the floor !!!!... SMH..
That's a lot of work to end up with a poorly positioned TV that sits across the room from the viewer, when you put all this amount of effort, one would assume you'd at least research that critical detail
🙄...He’s the one that has to live with it, so as long as HE likes it...stop pissing on other people’s parade.
