- Magician David Blaine in a guest spot on 'So Graham Norton' from 17th July 1998. In the 1990s the TV magic being produced in the USA had become tired and dated. 'The World's Greatest Magic' series (1994-1998) did feature some excellent performers, but most were better suited to live work - on television the glossy 'bigger is better' production swamped the acts - there was little for the audience to relate to. Magic needs time and space to breath; for it to make a proper connection with its audience. Then along came a dude. A magic dude. David Blaine. He was laid-back, low key, understated. The antithesis of what had gone before. He really understood magic and stripped it back to its essence. And magic changed forever. Duncan Trillo/MagicWeek. I can watch DB all day and always in wow moment
All due respect but u have a pretty face on ur CZcams pic.
Yea Dragonball is great lol
I can't believe he was this good.... in 1998, freaking 22 years ago 😂
@@darwingiovanni5046 It's honestly insane! His daughter is getting reallyy good too
Same z
I re watched the video. Picked a different card. AND HE STILL GOT IT !!
Magic is not so much a puzzle to be solved but a mystery to be experienced. Great magic doesn't strive to fool you so that you believe in something, great magic reminds you to be careful in what you believe in...
David Blaine - 🐐
I like that. I never knew he said that.
@@iggystardust9236 He didn't, my fault for making it look that way...
Got me with the 9 of spades and I’m at home watching this from bed 😎
It's because he makes it so that this card is the longest, last and clearest visible so that your brain automatically draws to it. That's why he turns around the first card and doesn't show the last.
how lol, it's so obvious what he did
This is just a million double lifts in a row but his showman ship is so good it makes it.
How does he get the 6 of spades to be under the top card in the beginning though?
Magic has always been cool.
The beginning of the man who made magic awesome again
That one guy putting 9 of spades top of his head that's the mood we want
David Blaine is so good at his game that this comment section still hasn't ruined the performance for me.
The true magic is he looks the same 22 yrs later
@Jack Evans well i think he's kinda weird not polite.
Watch the latest videos on Ascension, he's aged plenty. Don't know what you're on about. He looks his age
Norton been doing it for a long time.
Nearly 30 years...
A true artist in the art of close up magic
HE GOT ME FROM HOME!!!!! WOW!!!!!
Got me too!! 😂😂 I think it's something to do with how slightly slowing down whilst the end of the shuffle to see the card your eyes remembered most
22 years and the format of the Graham Norton Show has barely changed. Pretty awesome!
From 1998 to 2020 he looks same ❤️
He just jumps through timeline like his cards in deck
@@justsomeguywithoutamustach8816 hell hey
You really cannot spot his rhinoplasty (nose surgery)?
@@antdgar u can't find any difference if he is your idol 😄
Its not that davids tricks are complex in fact they were all really simple. But he has mastered showmanship and dexterity in this field to the max and thats what makes him one of the best magicians of our time.
did not realize graham's show was this old. Amazing
David Blaine is awesome. Imagine having him as a mate...parties would never be dull.
DuneMountainTrip he’s as dull as a fucking rock mate
DuneMountainTrip in fact everything he does is quite simple... and you don’t need more!
He needs to be a marvel character
this dude has not changed at all, in a good way
9 of spades really was my card 💀
David Blaine just performed magic on me 22 years into the future...
I'm on this same boat
Same
same, slight of hand and suggestion, he knew where the card was in the deck OR the card is different in some way so he held on it for a split second longer, if the majority of folks picked it he did the move right, the bent card move is what puzzles me the most
Some people are naturally more stoned than others
When Graham attempts to hold Blaine's hand at the start. 😆
Sleight of hand is my favorite to watch. Swallowing frogs not so much.
most beautiful ambitious card routine.
happy 46th birthday david blaine !!!!
Blaine was so nervous, you can tell. But, the host knew what he was doing, and kept Blaine afloat through the segment perfectly.
HE GOT ME AGAIN GUESSED MY CARD AGAIN!!!!!!!! 9 OF SPADES OMGGGGG
crush since 2006 the man is BEAUTIFUL damn fine Voice is as beautiful as prince Talented and how he works those cards yep the kids got it lol
David still looks more or lees the same age maybe like 5 years older , dude is insane
People try to find out how he does and bitch just enjoy the show😎he's the man👍
The first time I saw him wearing other color beside black
The last one worked on me!
Lol all of the kids in the comments thinking they are so cool because they know what a double lift is.
I love those adidas he’s got on.
What a talent I bet he can count cards and feel cards so well he could do it while in agonising pain.
David is so calm I can not tell when he is joking around.
9 of spade is the only black color on the portion. damnn this guy is genius he got me from home this video is 1998 lol
I saw 7 of clubs in there
I saw alot of 9s in there so I said probably that's the trick and 9 is probably going to come out so I chose A another one I saw
I was watching it in 0.5x and chose 2 pf diamonds 😅
Actually there are more .
I like david's voice
He’s so shy and cute
I've seen that last trick performed by David quite some times now. He stops so well in one card so it makes it obvious for it to be chosen. Then, he prepares all the preformance around it. I want to practice that one.
Who asked you
@@user-kh2hb6gv9u Your mom.
Oh I'm sorry I didn't know you were twelve. My bad.
David realy love what he is doing
most handsome magician ever! Great looking guy!
miamimagicians Seriously 😍
yep
miamimagicians I think I'm in love with him lol
no I am! lol :P
Amazing how he just did an entire routine on live TV with just a couple of DLs
David is so good looking wtf
That's was Freaking Awesome Loved that was interactive with The Viewers including Myself 😁😎
I remember watching this first time around...
6:21 I noticed for this trick he always goes with the last card you see. Because that’s the one that sticks out the most. Because it’s freshest in your mind. It’s a psychology trick I think. Everyone 100% of the time will go with the last card they see. Or they only card they see. (At the very end)
He actually shows that card longer than the others, which is why people see and remember it. He does the trick with the forced card in the middle sometimes - if the top edge card you want to force is slightly lower than the rest it creates a slight break when he fans his finger through
Lol look away my comment the last one made
I think the success of the trick requires it to be the last card seen, but that might not be enough. In this version he dwelled super long on the last card compared to the rest so it's not only the last card seen, but also the one you see for the longest duration (and multiple times). In 1997 he did a slightly different version on the Conan Obrian show. As his last trick, he turned to Andy Richter and flipped the deck the same way and Andy ultimately selected the very last card, the Ace of diamonds. The difference is that David didn't dwell on it very long at all this time. Instead he chose to re-use a card from an earlier trick that Andy had signed and was watching closely over a series of 3 or 4 consecutive tricks. So for a couple of minutes Andy had been interfacing with that one card, so you can say David was burning it into his memory for later use. Lastly, you'll notice that David doesn't use all of the 52 cards for this trick. By showing less cards, you're simply less likely to be distracted by cards other than the one he's intending to have stick in your brain. So it seems there are a handful of elements, both psychological and statistical, that all together promote its success.
yes but it's also that he paused longer on that one too, just a fraction of a second, so that was the one you see. It's a risky one because you CAN see others, but the odds are you'll pick the one he wants you to.
Should have omitted everyone picking up their 9 of spades makes it obvious that it was a forced card
6:37...why did Graham say, "the nine of spades" like that lmao
I love David Blaine
So cool that him and Leo are friends, from so far back!
the 9 of spades is a mind trick, its closer to the bottom on the deck and its one of the more obvious ones, thats crazy how that works
No, he just shows it a bit longer.
no danknasty661, the card before the forced one is cut a tiny bit shorter than the rest of the cards so the card he wants to force is shown a tiny bit longer than the other ones. Hope you can understand my english ;)
Rom .Sen no thats what im trying to say, but i cant explain it well, and dont worry, your English is fine
HOLY FUCKING SHIT! 6:34 that's my card 🤯
It's actually quite an amateur trick. I couldn't do it because it requires expert precision, but it's considered a simpler trick. he paused longer on that card, just a fraction of a second, so that was the one you see longest and it was the last one you see. It's a risky one because you CAN see others, but the odds are you'll pick the one he wants you to. It's essentially a force, with top tier timing and precision.
Lmfao didnt even know this show existed for that long.
that fuckin double lift is so well done
at which part?
actually on the second double lift you can see the gab between the cards. I was surprised, because that was exactly what happens to me all the time when i am executing the double lift like that :D
As I've been saying for many years now: "David Blaine, is Literally a better magician than Houdini!"
Lol.. you're quoting yourself.
AJ G nothing to do!
I hate it when people say he does black magic... because his tricks are actually very simple, but david is soooo good at what he does.. he will literally show u the trick and how its done, but you still get amazed by how "he did it" because even after he shows u his technique, he still knows u wont be able to replicate it due to the fact hes a pro
He is master yogi in my opinion, he has achieved the highest level of the mind possible. Hes an interesting human being. People will demonize what they do not understand.
david in his prime is hot afffff
EXACTLY OMG
He will always b tha master
So fine
That is just dope....pure slight of hand stuff and that's all he does on TV as well.....not like other magicians who prefer camera tricks over pure magic....
Huge respect for this guy for taking magic to such new heights....
I did not expect seeing father Noel presenting a show.
Amazing Blaine!
It's been nearly 20 years since this video --- Graham Norton has predictably aged as one would expect in 18 years, but seriously David Blaine looks virtually exactly the same to me. So weird.
He uses magical anti-aging creams.
damn what a fucking trip with that computer behind !!!
6:45 lmao that guy
The "see the card" trick is the only one that is obvious how it's done
And he did an upsy on the switch 6.34
It was 9 of spades 😱 I is it even possible .. this video is from way back !!
Vinay Srivastava it’s simple. The way he flicks the cards is under his control. He makes the 9 of spades more visible then all the others. Also slight of hand. Easy back flip. I used to do magic it’s pretty cool.
I thought the 9 of spades is Madison.....
@@bluelance01 hahaha
Watch ---> 0:26 how David Blaine quickly but smoothly rejects the host's attempt to hold hands with David to lead em to the other lady he meets right after 😂😅
I mean really that was very awkward for David Blaine I'm sure 😕😲
i could see that card in the back during the snap change lol
The last trick was a flash.
Great magician
He is a phenomenal talent and have enjoyed so much of his tricks I forget about the world and am absorbed in his remarkable feats with cards and other tricks... except I am concerned about his health with some of the physical endurance feats he has performed. I suddenly thought... but not so easy it could happen... for one person in the audience to come secretly prepared maybe hoping David might do his 9 of spades trick, then right after the cards rain down on the audience to bring one other card, (only it would have to be of a matching design on the front of David's set) so a card different than any other card than the 9 of spades, then rise up and shout, holding their card high and saying, " Look at me! I saw the queen of diamonds, look everyone!" Then all see the queen of diamonds and be even more amazed and leave David amazed too... yet probably not a trick unless the trickster knows the design detail on David's particular set of cards... only I wonder if he buys cards from a magic supply company and the design is not all that uncommon. His cards look of a fairly common design. At least everyone would get a good laugh for an instant.
Ohh Blaine and his cards!!!
David Blaine is so Cute.
lel
turned out that tiny pause at 9 of spade is important for people to see what the card is, the others are pretty much impossible to see. What an amazing trick!!
Dude i was thinking of the 9 of spades
nice try, I know you're in on it
i actually saw 9 of spades omg
he saw it too ;)
Yea it was a force....
Same here...
wolverine mmmk true I saw it and knew he was going to show the 9
He did it that way so you would see the 9 for a longer amount of time than any other card
He's always looks high on something
always hhhhhh
David blaine the craziest
What i saw was ace of hearts but he flashed it b4 d snap change tho still amazing
RIP Honor Blackman
If you look closely at the last trick, you can see the sticking out parallel to the ground behind the 9 of spades. Pause it @ 6:34.
Getting on tv with a double lift and the ambitious card routine. Damn.😂😂😂👍
Well, It's an oversaturated market when you see a scrub on youtube doing this routine, because he saw it on youtube, so CZcams's now recycling its own shit, and people eat it up like it is new... What original content you got? From 1998?
@@CreepX You mad bro?😂😂😂
Where did you see anger?
Legend Of Gamer you just need little things and a good personality to succeed, this is the secret !
Lol love the computers. Also is that a Mimeo in the background?
Aaaah I wij it was 1998 😔
I saw 10 of hearts
he got me, even in 2019, goddamn that was amazing
wow graham looks so young.
5:42 There you can see clearly how David distorts time and space. Easy trick.
That's some amazing technique...
Damn, I’ve never seen him flash on the snap change before. I blame the camera man. David’s gotten better over the years which is hard to believe.
MAGIC IS COOL THAT'S ALL
I swear he knew my card at the end
it´s psychology, nothing else.
He showed that card I split second longer than the other cards. So its the card you remember
Mine too !!
9 of spades
just turned 26 doesn't feel that long ago
Some two decades ago.
Weird, even I called the 9, must be the way he does it fast then stops on a card for a half second longer.
correct, most are too fast too see except the one that is meant to be seen
You could see others too but you remembered what you saw last
@@ProAtCrastination there's something called the attentional blink which suggests that in the moment you catch the card, the stimuli after (other cards) are briefly invisible
the card before the forced card is a little bit shorter so you see the 9 a tiny bit longer. that's why you remember it 90% of the time
If you are seeing the trick for the first time he will always get you. When you are in the moment is so different.
Kings become Aces.
No fucking way he got me !!
Haha what the fuck, i went for the 9 of spades too. Fuck that
Irishfox it's because the 9 of spades is the only black card in the deck and the one in front of it is cut slightly shorter, it's a mind trick
It's not the only black one he just leaves it in view longer than the others and at the end.
IrishBard what's ur picture from
wow very handsome here, slender fit form youthful face though he is still good looking
