Unfortunately not. It only gained an audience for a few months after the manufacturing of vaccine but everything is lost again. The rat race to become an engineer or doctor still continues. Nobody gives a damn about other fields in science. It's just like if you couldn't clear the entrance test then there's no hope for you so atleast study something
Hi Omar! If you want to get into research as a medical student, you can. Also you can get into industry with an MD degree. You don't have to become a doctor. You can also get a PhD after your MD degree, and then indeed best check for one in genetic engineering. Check with your university what the options are for you as a medical graduate without wanting to practice medicine! ;)

Hi there! Ablynx and Argen-X are 'red' biotech companies aiming at delivering biopharmaceuticals for human disease (hence there is a biomedical focus). Galapagos is actually more a pharma company. Mithra also. And BioCartis is diagnostics focused company, also developing equipment along with it, hence more 'medical device'. There's often a fine line between what you call biomedical or not, because it can be soooo broad (and that's good, because it allows biomeds to go work into a range of different companies! ;)).
