    Just ordered the 5k version for remote, work from home design work. Besides the glowing reviews I’ve watched, a major selling point was the Ethernet port. I’ll be using this for my design work in a large corporation, and our workstation USB ports can’t be used to transfer data to memory sticks (IT locks us out to prevent data theft). MSLA printers are generally marketed as consumer toy makers, but there’s a huge professional market for designers and engineers that a printer like this is well suited for (cost, capability, connectivity). Looking forward to testing its limits!

      If you want a resin printer this is definitely the best choice out of the other Amazon brands!

    I agree with the CS thing ... I only ask about if I can use their nFEP with my Creality LD-002H & they replied relatively fast ... :)

    For those round pieces to turn out smooth, what layer height are you printing at?

    • @ethanbrackin569
      @ethanbrackin569 Před 3 lety

      There are a couple metrics. You need a good mesh. We model our kits at a high resolution to begin with; if you don't you will have faceted edges going around the outside even if you have a great printer. the layer height is only for the up and down direction. not in the circumference. the circumference is based on the resolution of the screen. To answer the basic question we print everything at .025 now but some stuff we print at .05.

      @@ethanbrackin569 Awesome, great info. Thanks. I'm thinking of grabbing one of these to replace the Mono X I was given by AnyCubic to review. It worked flawlessly the 1st 10 days and now I get random lines on my prints and after troubleshooting the problem for a week and waiting tons of time and resin I think I'm done messing with it.

    Wish these machines had a heater to monitor resin temp

    • @ethanbrackin569
      @ethanbrackin569 Před 3 lety

      We use a space heater to keep temps of our printer room at 75F and that keeps everything very consistent. I don't recomend using resin printers in a garage or a space that fluctuates temps a lot.

    What I would like is a bit more instruction on how to "tune" the settings etc. to get the best prints for various resins. What to look for to get a good setup. When I got my first resin printer it printed fine out of the box, but I really had no idea what was "wrong" when it started giving me failed prints. Obviously nothing replaces experience - but some real info and pointers would have gone a LONG way to my enjoyment of the machine. A calibration model with instructions on what to look for and what settings to tweak when various anomalies are seen. Help the Newb :)

    I had to take apart my build plate because got resin in there, its not metal on the inside either, its molded plastic with threaded inserts, so over tightening you can crack the outside or the inside :(

    • @merlinmodels
      @merlinmodels  Před 3 lety +1

      yes Epax is aware of the issues with plastic build plate and they are making a metal adapter for the X10 all metal build plate. But in the mean time their customer service is amazing. if your build plate breaks they will replace it no worries so don't hesitate to reach out!

  • @losaminos59
    @losaminos59 Před 3 lety

    Are you also getting issues with the plastic molded plate?
    Does it move and won't keep leveled when doing big and long prints?
    I read some people concerns with this plastic build plate getting loose and needs to be leveled again and again just after a couple of prints.

    • @merlinmodels
      @merlinmodels  Před 3 lety +2

      Yes, I haven't had issues with long prints but the build plate does have some concerns which I addressed. I talked to Epax and they are almost done with an adapter that will allow you to use the X10 all metal build plate! So the problem will be completely solved very soon making this machine pretty much perfect!

    • @merlinmodels
      @merlinmodels  Před 3 lety +1

      Also when we first got our E10s we ran probably 40+ prints on each one without touching the build plate before having to start releveling. so they really get it right, straight out of the box!

      @@merlinmodels "I talked to Epax and they are almost done with an adapter that will allow you to use the X10 all metal build plate" I tried getting in contact with EPAX to ask them if this was possible but they never replied to my chat message. I was also concerned with the plastic neck having any kind of flex during printing and had hoped to possibly use the X10 parts as well, but idk.
