I appreciate if you use my amazon affiliate link to view showerheads!
I take my old shower head and raise it up about 20" without any major plumbing. I then install a rainfall shower head.
We do this by taking out the old shower arm and replacing it with an S curve shower arm. I bought mine at Home Depot back by the showerheads and I got it for under $16. This extension piece allows you to raise the shower arm roughly 11inches. You can find these at Lowes Home Improvement as well.
I secured the shower arm back into the piping in the wall using Joint Compound or "Pipe Dope". After the shower arm is installed I simply screwed on the shower head to the new shower arm and bent it to me desired height.
I use to have to crouch just to splash water in my face and now I have a rainfall shower all for under $70. Granted there are probably better more expensive ways to do this but this isn't Home and Garden TV. Just a normal dude who wants a nice shower setup.
If you've only got $100 or less to spend on your bathroom renovation project I highly recommend swapping out a new rainfall shower head.

Thank you for considering purchase with my Amazon affiliate link. It encourages me to make other helpful videos.
This is so much easier than I thought it was to change out an arm. Thanks!
I'm 5'1 so this is never an issue for me... but I would love to do this to my shower so it feels like I'm under a waterfall... thanks for posting! It looks easy enough for me to try, so wish me luck lol!
Hope it went well!
Thank you so much! I'm 6'5" and have struggled with this my entire life!
Great video! And I love that you showed us the shower functioning at the end!
Thanks for the feedback. Still love that shower.
I love the before and after of your bathroom remodel... you're very cool for posting these D.I.Y. quick tutorials. .. much appreciated!
Best intro on CZcams - "Hi I'm Eric and I'm in my bathrobe"... LOL!
Thanks man, I was surprised too to see how easy it was.. love the feedback.
a new shower head is my next project. thank you for keeping the video short and straight to the point.
Had no idea this was so simple. Thank you!!!
I wish I could add 11 inches for 15 bucks
WOW! I just purchased the same shower arm and new shower head (I'm a tall female). This will be my weekend project. Thanks for the tutorial!
You ruled this home improvement! Awesome.
Exactly what I needed!! Thanks. Easy Peasy!
Thanks for the tips!
I cannot wait to do this to my shower. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the awesome tutorial.... You did a great job.
That was great info.....I wanted to rasie my shower head as well but thought I had to to do some plumbing alterations , but not anymore ! Thanks for posting this !
Buying new home and want one of these. Appreciate the info. Looks easy and surprisingly inexpensive. Thanks
You're a funny ass guy and a REAL review. Its not hard to do this and you don't really know what youre talking about but its perfect cause neither do I! Good ass video man.
I was able to replace the shower arm and install a new shower head in about 5 minutes. Thanks for the video and for making it look simple!
Kyle Breen No problem, glad it helped! In case you missed it Kyle I have a fun video for cleaning grout if you have a tiled tub as well czcams.com/video/ADjGODajHTk/video.html
Thank you! I appreciate it.
Thanks for this info!
Well done. Thank you!
nice. Adding that to the list of things to do
Nice job. I learned something today
Looks too easy to be true!! I will try it this weekend. Thx alot
this was really helpful. I just need to find the same (or similar) shower head in brass and I will be good to go. Thanks. AD, New Jersey
great video my husband is 6'7 an he's always talking about the rainfall shower head as well. I'm sure he's going to love this video. thanks :-)
Your husband understands the struggle. Tell him that next time someone asks if he plays basketball, reply in a deadpan reaction that he is a horse jockey... works almost every time for me.
Awesome!
Thanks... good information 🤙
Thanks for the info! We had been looking at different S style shower arms and had actually wondered how much room the one you reviewed would give us. We had no idea that there were flexible shower heads. You made our choice easier as to which brand we would end up going with. (Shower is designed so that someone who is 5 1/2 feet hits their head....I'm the shortest at 5'10".)
Thank you, this was very informative and had given me the courage to attempt doing this by myself... :-)
Hope it went well!
Thanks for sharing.
That's awesome, I love mine.. depending on what state you live in you can take out the water regulator for more water flow too which is on the directions, just a pair of needle nose a little black rubber washer
Thanks for the tutorial...Now I can do it. :)
very cool video, well explained.... thanks
Thanks looks like easy & fun .
I couldn't believe how easy it was. Good luck KJ.
Excellent!!! I like this video it helped me a lot now I have a rain shower, thanks for showing us how to install rain shower.
Shoaeb Basha Thank you! Glad to hear it was helpful.
Thank you for this video.
I am a 5'11" female and short showers have been my enemy all my life.
I've wanted a rainfall shower for a while now - doesn't look too complicated.
Iceechibi You're welcome. I was surprised how easy it was. Good luck!
Excellent instructions plus entertaining, I thank you Sir.
Thanks Jon! If you like the channel feel free to subscribe, I'm doing 100 home improvement videos in a year. Hopefully they will be helpful.
Great tutorial and great job! I am also not crazy about that plastic part on your shower head arm but, most importantly, it does gives you the height you need. Sometimes practicality has to come before aesthetics.
Outstanding. I'm going to use what I learned here "in reverse" and lower my shower head. Mine is made for someone about 6'5" and I'm 5'10". Thanks for the help.
very interesting ,Thank you.
This is absolutely what I needed to find, the apartment I'm in has a shower head that gives me the same issue yours did, and I'm only 5'5. Awesome economic way of fixing my issue, now if only I could get the water pressure up.
Thanks Berenice Flores. Did you find any good videos on water pressure? I'm not sure myself... I know my sink had bad pressure and it was gunk that built up in the screens.
I hope you love it as much as I do, still love that thing
thanks alot, 6'5 this made my day
"Hi I'm Eric and I'm in my bathrobe" 😂😂😂 but yeah thanks nice video
MsLovelyWeirdo I'm a weird guy too, what can I say.
I’m definitely gonna be doing this. I’m 6’4” & my new place has a low shower head
real funny how you kept correcting yourself in the video notes. Nice vid
Wow. That is the best. If i were taller I would make a video where I attached a garden hose on top of what you did and shower a giraffe. Bravo.
haha thank Brad!
Nice video. I think the shower head need pipe dope as well or tephlon tape. I will be working on mine tomorrow.
I thought it was strange that it didn't ask for tape on it but maybe you're right.
Yo I'm only 6' and I know the stoop feels. Thanks for the vid
My shower is a handheld unit that mounts on a bracket -you can shower while it's in the bracket or remove it when needed. Wouldnt a rainfall unit have to attached directly to the wall.
What if I turn that original shower head arm lose one half turn so that it’s angled upward for a shower head I’m installing? Am I risking leaks with this half turn lose to have it angled upward?
good vid. nice tile shower. did you tile your shower? maybe do a video on a nice shower curtain rail vs the rod you have there.
Yes I did tile it.. thanks for the feedback. Recently did another shower and ended up doing a curved curtain rail like you suggested.
I'm looking at purchasing this shower head for a rain fall feel. How has it held up over a year?
You'll Def be able to hit better with that rain gal effect. She's a lucky lady.
teflon is better sealant works best & can be replace if something needs to replace for water leeks,..
I'd like to convert my regular shower to a rainshower but I don't think it is high enough. Not unless the rainshower showerhead comes with a long extension.
You have a nice smile :)
:)
Anyone know how this will affect the water pressure ? My place has the worst water pressure and I don't want to lose any more of it.
How do I loosen the old one?
You are hillarious.
That is nice love my landlord will not do anything I have to do it!!
Awesome I bought one yesterday but trying to get more water pressure
christopher bell Nice! Did it install pretty easily for you too? Were you able to get more water pressure?
Our state government laws required very low pressure for the economy it's some bullshit to me
But i did get it install. I just took the water savers out of the shower head
Hey, Eric. Thanks for the GREAT tip! I have a question, though.
I see in the video that you put a note regarding certain angles in the arm causing leaks into the wall. Is this shower arm that you installed in this video the kind of arm that will cause leaks or you already corrected it in the video and this is the one that does not cause leaks into the wall?
(PS: Sorry for my broken English. Not my first launguage, but I'm trying to improve it as much as I can.)
As long as when water drips down the handle it comes to a low point before it enter the wall.
If your handle arm goes directly down into the wall so will the water. The one I installed here has a curve.
How to fix wall mounted duel rain shower and water fall shower head
You had mentioned that before you got this shower arm, the other shower arm you tried installing would not tighten as much as you needed and so it was leaking slowly inside your wall. My question is, how did you know it was leaking slowly? I'm about to change my shower arm and want to know how I can check if there is a slow leak after I tighten my shower arm in. I don't have a floor below me so I won't see any mold on ceilings or anything so I kind of need a way to check for leaks since I'm paranoid
amodoko the flange on my shower arm comes off slightly. When that pulls off a little bit and I use a flashlight I can see back on the the threads, mine had enough space that I could get a finger on the threads to feel for water leaks. The threads are just barely in the wall so I was able to check it out. If you can't get your fingers in there... you could try sticking a piece of paper in the wall all around the pipe and see if water gets on it.
Thanks! I'll try to use the paper trick as there isn't enough space to see easily on mine. Thank you
You said it was leaking on the inside? Even with the pipe dope? How were you able to tell?
The angle of the shower arm. If it angles directly down into wall from the shower head you will get leaks. Need a drip curve of sorts.
Yah you think you are so much more articulate until the camera is on. Thats what annotations are for!
What about buying two s extensions and a male to make pipe thread fitting and gain double the size 😅
dude, just go down to the river.
You mean he used to have to crouch to shampoo his hair? Oh wait....
Who has carpeting in there bathroom? As weird as a carpeted kitchen lol
flexible bit looks crap
No hable broken ingles.
american translation , flexible bit looks dam crap buddy
English is still broken so.... if you're going to be negative, be negative in proper grammar :)
+Fatoumata Sanoe the flexible bit Donna looka no gooda !
