  • For the first time, the FDA has approved a pill for women dealing with postpartum depression that's expected to be available after a 90-day review. Clinical trial data shows the drug, called zuranolone, eases depression in a few days, faster than other antidepressants. CBS News medical contributor Dr. Celine Gounder explains how it works, what the side effects could be and more.

This is great. Post-partum depression is absolutely crippling and lead to psychosis. THE MENTAL HEALTH OF MOTHERS MATTERS. This has not been taken seriously for TOO LONG.

Its an allosteric modulator of the GABA receptor and any medicine that binds to or directly effects this receptor could lead to worse symptoms and withdrawal syndrome. These drugs help temporarily to stop your depression, pain or anxiety but they also take away the bodies natural ability to do these things making you dependant on them. Not a good thing for a someone who just gave birth.

This exactly, and postpartum depression is a hormonal issue anyways. What they're doing here is sick. Typical for these drug companies. If you have problems in your life, why not pop one of our mind altering psychotropics? That's what we call health in the west. I know this, as I am a victim to ssri's and gaba altering drugs being told lies as a child without a choice.

It's not good as postpartum is a hormonal issue and this drug alters the brain in unnatural ways like an ssri. This can result in drug dependencies and horrible side effects. Lower estrogenal levels have been shown cause this depressive state.

The drug changes the chemistry of the brain like an ssri. It is unnecessary. Postpartum depression is a hormonal issue. Nothing good can come out of this.

@@mamalovesthebeach437you clearly missed school, it has everything to do with the child, breastfeeding is a huge part of the baby’s brain development aswell so whatever the mother takes will be transferred to the child, these devils “claim” to have found a pill to help with postpartum, but they are just sneakily trying to ruin babies developments as they grow up

This pill has not been tested for women that a breatfeeding she said. So, how can it be approved. If you take this medication, you should not operate heavy machinery. But you can breastfeed even if it is not tested.
