- Hey guys,
In this one, we will be using the Loomis method and the Asaro method. If you have always wanted to draw a portrait but don't know where to start then this is the perfect video for you. We will be starting off with a reference photo and then following the Loomis method so that we can get a solid start to the drawing. From there we will then lean into the Asaro method and start carving out the features of the face by using planes. From there we will start building our values and drawing in our details. Stay happy, stay healthy, and remember #neverstopdrawing

Mr Messer, you are the best instructor. You explain things very well. Share little secrets with techniques. So easy to follow. Because of you I have the confidence to keep practicing. Before I found you I was hesitant to practice cause afraid of failure. Not so much any more.😊
Wow, I appreciate you my friend. I actually have a new book about drawing the portrait that will be coming out in a few months. If this video helped you then the book will help 10x Here is a link to order one and I hope you never stop drawing :) links.messer-creations.com/amzn/bookdrawingtheportrait
Your book looks great...however, I do really like your COACHING during the videos. Maybe I will try it. a little pricey for me as on a fixed income. My father was an artist and I wanted to be like him but he never encouraged or helped me. I would try and become discouraged and stop. I became a therapist instead and loved it however I wish I had done artwork as a hobby ...😌I am 72 yrs old and now I am loving drawing portraits. You encourage me. LOL.@@MesserCreations
@@blissfulearth334 thank you so much, it took me about a year to complete the book. It is definitely an investment that one makes in themselves. I give away so many of my best practices throughout it. I wrote it in such a way that it is as much of a step by step guide as my CZcams videos are. On top of that I have QR coded specifics videos at the end of each chapter so if you need a more fluid explanation of the concept taught you can simply scan the QR code with your smartphone and watch the corresponding video for free on CZcams. Don’t feel alone about your father, mine didn’t encourage my art either. Art is made for an individuals happiness, and if it’s appreciated by others then that’s a bonus. Take care! 😊🙌🏻
@@MesserCreations 🧡💛💚 I will get the book. Think it is released in June
You have a good- peaceful- way of teaching and instilling confidence in your students.
I appreciate that :)
i love you so much! your videos are the only ones i can seem to sit through fully, understand well and have also noticed progress because of! thank you! :D
I'm so glad! I hope they continue to help 😊
Thank you so much for this wonderful tutorial, now i am really inspired to practice more because i love portrait drawing but always feel that my drawings was not good enough so i traced and then paint😊
You are so welcome 🙏🏻 most artists feel that their art is not up to par which is a shame. I know I’ve felt that way from time to time. Just keep going and enjoy the process. Take care 😊
I love drawing but I can just do the simple one and the one really hard for me is drawing a portrait. So I really want to learn about portrait.
The big thing is draw how you are the most comfortable. Once you feel like you can draw without thinking much about how you are drawing, then draw something a little more complex. I hope that helps 😊
@@MesserCreations portrait is really hard for me but I will keep on practicing, thank you for sharing us some easy way to draw hope to learn more from you.

Good, I’m glad they are helping you 😊🙏🏻
Yep the are helping me sometimes it hard because l am new in Loomis method
Just draw a whole bunch of Loomis heads of differing angles. Draw them until you don’t even have to think about it much. Then you will “know” it inherently. That’s what I did.

rien a voir avec la photo original
It’s just a general sketch, I also drew this in like 15 minutes so I didn’t give it my full ability. I was just having fun.
