    • GRIDSERVE interview CO...
    We met Norwich General Manager, Chris Ward and the GRIDSERVE team and had a full tour of the facility with Jon from Gridserve. Such an impressive development and a very encouraging glimpse of the future for EV driving. I was relived to find all bays were basically accessible and they even had extra wide dedicated bays for disabled drivers and special WAV or WAEV as they’re now called.
    Electric Vehicle (EV) charging in Norfolk has gone from a place of relative obscurity to a position of having one of the most advanced EV charge hubs in the world. This amazing electronic forecourt 22 High Power chargers, 8 Tesla Superchargers and a further 6 Low Power chargers - all available 24/7.
    Electric Forecourt® - charge anxiety is a thing of the past if you live in Norwich, now been replaced by a futuristic experience in a modern cafe style shop and business meeting place, where you can either relax contented and calm, or meet a customer or colleague on route for a meeting in one of the business meeting pods.
    “This is a world-class facility that’s going to put Norwich firmly on the map,” says Chris Ward, the General Manager of what is only the second charging facility of its kind in Europe. Talking ahead of the grand opening on 21st April, Ward is affable, relaxed and enthusiastic about the project. While boasting more than 20 years of experience in retail management at major high street brands, the opportunity to help the city he proudly calls home to become a forerunner in tackling the climate emergency was too big an opportunity to miss.

      Hello John and thank you for your kind comments we appreciate your encouragement. It’s just me and my wife with our iPhone SE and iPad so we do the best we can. It’s a lot of work but we enjoy doing it, hoping to find some form of sponsorship soon, as travelling around the country can get expensive:) 😆

    I've said it a long time. Gridserve needs to expand into the American midwest ASAP!

      They have a £1 Billion investment in the UK, if that goes well who knows, as a company they are very visionary. Did you see my interview with their COO? czcams.com/video/11MY9UjYKtM/video.html

    Great video and great to see the accessibility. I'm driving up to Norwich in a few days and was worried that they didn't have a lift as I couldn't find it mentioned on there website.

    Enjoyed you video Roger and I was there, Great facility many more required. One at Kings Lynn and Newark would make that trip from or to the coast from the Midlands a lot easier. How was your trip down to Norwich? Did you make many charging stops?

      Hi Graham thanks for watching yes these new Gridserve hubs are very motivating let’s hope they continue to roll them out quickly. We actually went from Norwich to Lowestoft and then came back to Gridserve and with one full charge there, got home with 6 miles range remaining

    That looks like a great facility and I bet you enjoyed your VIP day :-), you'll be doing celebrity openings before too long. Still think they should have a little swivel gantry to hold the cable away from the charges a little. Are you going to Fully Charged Live this coming week end?

    • @warnerswheelingabout4879
      @warnerswheelingabout4879  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi, thanks, appreciate you watching and commenting.
      The cables come from the back bottom of the unit and rise up to a hanger that suspends it, that carries the majority of the weight. The head/plug part is the main weight you have to carry, it’s still a task but a better design than most.
      I’d like to go to fully charged I have an invitation but it’s 250 miles away and I’d need a hotel, I’m afraid it’s costing me quite a lot, I really need to find a sponsor to support me.

      @@warnerswheelingabout4879 Such a shame but I know what you mean, 3hrs each way, plus accommodation and I'm having to pay for fuel and to get in lol ;-) I'm going via the Triride head office to pick up a loaner for the day so I should fit right in at the show, really looking forward to that as well.

    The 'production values' on these videos is quite brilliant, Roger - you and your wife have a real eye for it.
    So, yes, another really informative video upload from you of a terrific EV facility - we just need Gridserve to crack on with the proposed site near York, then we Northern EVers can benefit from these upgrades, too...! 👍

    I notice gridserve are now saying 100 charging forecourts by 2030 instead of 2025. That is a massive difference for the worse. We will certainly have enough evs to support 100 gridserve charging forecourts by 2025, not the 10 we will likely have.

  • @onlineo2263
    @onlineo2263 Před 2 lety +1

    CCS is a terrible charging standard. It is too heavy and cumbersome.
