      I could use a tech rest. I make time to do things without my phone but I do binge consume internet.

      Wow, I loved the sensory rest. I am so inspired after watching this video. My husband and I have decided to go for a walk to the lake everyday and spend one hour at the lakefront reading a book (we will leave our phones back home). We have stayed in this apartment for a year, and funny thing we settled to pay this rent (over our budget) only because of the lake accessibility. But hardly visited once a week to cherish it. Now this gives us a purpose and reason to visit lake everyday.

    I needed this right now. I've been studying for a certification exam for months (taking it next week). I'm burnt out and need so much mental rest right now. You reminded me to take more breaks. Thanks for the video.

    It took me years to learn the importance of sensory deprivation. Sometimes our brains can just get overstimulated and need a break. This is a must for me, especially when I’m traveling. I’m a light sleeper so sitting in a dark quiet room before bed and then using ear plugs and an eye mask (sometimes melatonin too) to just tune everything out really ensures I get good rest all night long.

    I just found your channel today. I had never heard about different types of rest. This is so true!!!. I love being out in nature which really renews me and thought this was the only rest for me. You have given me so much food for thought. As a Christian myself I am a firm believer in the Sabbath...something we have lost in modern day society. So pleased to find someone dedicated to their faith also speaking about minimalism which is connected to true freedom I think. Thank you Ashlynne from a fellow Canadian :)

    My kind of rest such as today on my day off is to do whatever I want (hobbies, or play on my phone..) until I get “bored” then I do one tiny chore (throw clean clothes from dryer into a hamper) then do something fun again.

    Sensory rest is massively undervalued. With all the screens and notifications, our dopamine levels are unnaturally high. Resetting and relearning to enjoy the simple pleasures of life is so important!

    I recently heard of sleep hygiene which is to make environment and habits that can help optimize better sleep. Something most people don't realize is the amount of radiation that we are exposed to even in our homes in the name of convenience. This disrupts all body functions. Thanks for sharing.

    I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue, however I do try and do quite a few of these techniques regularly but sadly due to my illnesses I never feel fully rested xxxxxxxxx

    I have a bff but we got separated due to her having a baby and she went back to school…even if she’s super duper busy she still texts me out of the blue with thoughtful texts…and she rarely does it. I cherish her. And I have my hubby who’s energized and loud sometimes it bothers me but most of the time he makes me lol

    My mental test is meditation. I meditate until I fall asleep. It’s like a tall glass of ice cold water in a hot day.

      @@LindsayD228 I use any comfy position (sitting or laying down) anywhere. And I listen to “Liquid Mind” on Pandora. If I’m having a hard time to focus 🧘‍♀️ then I pay attention at first to my thoughts and feelings. Then I disregard my thoughts (I’ll take care of them later), and for my feelings I tell myself “I accept these feelings, I’m just human”. Then I inhale deeply “focus on my soul” and exhale “out the negative things of today”. I keep doing that until my thoughts and feelings are clear. Then I imagine my happy place where no one is allowed to come…all I hear are my breathing and air/breeze/outer space (for that’s what’s what’s on “Liquid mind”). Sometimes this meditation lasts 10mins sometimes 30+ mins depending how much I need it.

    My body always holds that stress on the back of my neck. And no stretch is shaking it off. Everyday I come back from school so tensed and sore there. Anyone else have that?

      I get that a lot, for me it’s partly due to poor posture, but also due to holding stress there. Stopping to breathe and release stress throughout the day helps a lot

      Posture can have a lot to do with that! I would try seeing if adjusting your posture can help reduce some of the pain/discomfort 🤍

    Love this video and I love your contact. But I believe, as Christians, we should really stay away from yoga and certain types of New Age meditation. I think stretching and biblical meditation is the way to go. I don’t think God is pleased when we sprinkle other religions into our life as followers of Christ. 💗

      That's the whole of the U.S., though. Even in our speech there's New Age/Pagan things. I don't believe in having a Christmas tree anymore. That's Pagan. Anything from Native Americans is also Pagan. Karma isn't Christian, either.

    Yoga is not for Christians. Many professing faith are being mislead in this area. Yoga is Hinduism through and through. It was never originally devised to stretch and tone the body, its goal was to emulate pagan gods and nature elements in worship. Just do regular exercise.
