    As someone who works in quality control I can tell you that any manufacturer who doesn't take the time to ensure highest quality in the things the customer can see and feel absolutely doesn't take the time and effort to ensure quality in the things you will never see. That said the better choice between the two vehicles shown here is dead obvious.

    There is a prop rod along the left side of the floor opening of the Polestar 2. It holds it open.

    I have to say, I love polestar and I want to own one some day. I had a Polestar 2 on order for months. I ended up going with Tesla.....Model S! It was literally 5 grand more than the polestar 2 fully loaded and man, it's just on a different level. Absolutely love the Model S and that would be my pick, if you can live with the quirks.
    Like I said, I want to own a Polestar some day. I like the brand better than I like the Tesla brand. But the 2 just doesn't have that value proposition right now, unfortunately. Looking forward to Polestar 5 in a couple years!

    Re the comment on the glass roofs and the Model 3 having the bar across the middle at the B-pillar; it needs that for structural integrity as it's the only cross-brace in the roof, there's no brace above the rear passengers (at the C-pillar). Contrast that with the Polestar and Model Y which both have a cross brace above the rear passengers' heads (also allowing for the rear hatch mounting and hinges) and therefore can have an unbroken opening from the windscreen surround to that brace at the C-pillar. You can either have an unbroken opening from the windscreen surround to above the rear passengers, then a cross-brace, and then a separate rear windscreen, or you have a cross-brace at the B-pillar giving you one glass panel above the front seats, and then another running back from that B-pillar cross-brace, incorporating the rear windscreen and running to the base of the rear windscreen. But you can't have both - you need a roof cross-brace at some point.

    I have a polestar 2 with the weavetech interior and I think it is great. I don't like leather for the reason described in this video about its maintenance. The weavetech (AKA wetsuit) is easy to wipe down as well. I used to own a model 3 and enjoyed it, but the polestar 2 is nicer is many ways. I would not though buy a polestar brand new as they depreciate like crazy, and are a better buy used.

    My Fremont Built Model Y long range AWD was stellar, not one issue other than a noisy passenger seat motor, loving the Tesla, much better than my 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited equivalent (Canada) which was dirty from glass to seats and interior, to no Fast DC charging since new, that took 7 month 6 service visits to fix when I said enough and got rid of it. Pretty poor for my Highway road car, but the Tesla just works!

    I've had the same thought about the visibility and feeling of looking down the nose of the car at the road 'like a 911'. The visibility is great on the M3, somewhat of a rarity these days. My 23 base M3 has not had any quality issues yet, 11 months and 12000 miles in.

    That was a very thorough comparison of those two cars. The net quality difference between them is quite small, and the Tesla wins in outright performance and price.

      @dewihy Před 8 měsíci +3

      Thorough? What about brakes, suspension, safety features, ride quality, etc? This was not a thorough comparison. Anyone who focuses only on build quality, paint, and interior then buys the cheaper car is taking a gamble on a good ownership experience. If that’s all that’s important to you then good luck.

    Having owned both a Freemont built Model S 100d and a Shanghai built Model 3, the problem is the lack of care of US Tesla workers and the Freemont factory being out of age. My 2021 Long Range didn’t have a single issue while the Model S was full of flaws. I now have a Polestar 2 BST230, it feels more « car » than the Tesla but I’m missing the user interface and a few other aspects and features of the Tesla

    At least Tesla is handling it. I just a 2023 model S long range demo with 800 miles. I had come issues as well. They did take of the minor issues. I do admit they are getting better. The way that gotta pump these 3 and Ys out to keep up with demand is probably crazy especially as they lowered the price. Just saying

    I had a Tesla Model 3 (2021), I owned it for 1 year. I had so many problems with it. on the first week of owning it they had to align all the wheels because the car was pulling me to the left. Panel miss alignment, that they were not able to fix. The tail lights are sticking out in substantial amount( it is within Tesla specs) they said. ofcoures the whole back panel is miss align aswell with really big panel gaps. My powerliftgate broke 2 times(prolly due to the whole rear of the car is misaligned), and the parts are so difficult to get a hold of. My doors were miss aligned as well. I hear so many creaks and squeaks, but the worst of all is the sound of a metal bending every time i drive the car up on a small hill on my garage. They thought the structure integrity of the whole car was compromised so they had to get the car really fast. They disassemble the whole back of the car to check. They didn't find anything. For the car that cost 50 000 euros i could not justify it. I feel like it had too many faults. I sold it for a very little loss. Now I own Ioniq 5 and it's amazing.

    • @BonanzaPilot
      @BonanzaPilot Před 8 měsíci +1

      hard to blame all this on Tesla when you bought the car used. My 2018 Performance 3 hasn't needed an alignment yet. It has had less issues both in number and cost than our, also 5 but half the mileage, Prius. Panel alignment was a huge issue when they really started to ramp up. 2020-2021 seemed to be the worst. Buying cars new leave you knowing it's history. Did you buy the Ioniq used too?

    As I understand the Tesla Lease scenario, you must turn the car into Tesla at the end of your lease. I would never lease a Tesla if that is the case. Currently, Polstar is discounting the P2 $10,000 and offering a $299.00 27-month Lease I can Buy, Sell, Trade-in the P2 anytime, or Turn the car in at the end.... Suddenly that $17K is nonexistent.
