I’ve had my Cybertruck CyberBeast for 3 week and love how low maintenance it is. I just hose it off, no rags, no chemicals, no touch, just hose. And it looks great, like a stainless steel truck. Yes, it has natural “patina” and does not look like a shinny chrome trophy toy car, BUT, it looks so good with natural stainless steel. My recommendation is to just leave it alone, hose it off if you get bird crap or bugs, but just use a hose, plain water, and be done with it. Enjoy

Well said. Wrapping or ceramic coating a CT is waste of money. Let the factory SS patina naturally. It’s a truck!!!

Exactly. And if you really want to use cleaners just use barkeepers friend pro, then Windex, then alcohol. Total cost from Home Depot is about $10.

They need to polish the ss with diamond pads and/or acid wash the ss before bending and welding in manufacturing.
I bought the DIY metal ceramic. I prepped my Cyberbeast exactly like Yvan demonstrates in their video. Wash, iron remover, panel prep, then the ceramic. I worked for half the day and when I put on ceramic. I wish i had never applied it. All it did was pull out spots, stains and blotches. I used an entire bottle of panel prep, went 6 passes. I could have done 20 passes and it would not have mattered. I’m over all the work, I wish I had paid someone, and will if I ever apply another coat of ceramic. They call this DIY but “do it yourself” means doing things like an everyday pro such as buy a bunch of crap like gloves, applicators, equipment, chemicals, and you MUST have a garage. And TIME!!! Time is my most valuable commodity. I’m done detailing! My Cybertruck looked better before I did anything. I saw it sitting out in a mall parking lot today and realized how orangey/pink it was in the light due to the metal
ceramic. I’d rather have gleaming silver space metal with prints and spots instead of an orangey film. All the ceramic did was trap stains after all the work and money.
I contacted DIY and they were kind, prompt, and professional, and advised what to do to correct the blotches. They sent me another bottle of metal ceramic and panel prep, even towels. They stand behind their product although I’m not a fan of the orangey look as it is now. Yvan advised to use Bar Keepers Friend to remove ceramic just like Colton in this video. However, this is an exception! Yvan also emphatically says do NOT use Bar Keepers Friend on a normal basis as it’s an abrasive which will make the factory orbital pattern finish patchy unless you could rub perfectly even which is impossible.
TBH I’m over it and I’m missing the overall point of the ceramic. I thought it was going to make my truck look better than it already was I think the orangey tint taints the gleaming silver look. It’s kind of the equivalent of buying an expensive soft sofa and putting plastic over it to “protect it” instead of enjoy it. Protect it from what? I’m not going to wrap the truck either. Although many want a black bat mobile, favorite color, or branding, I think many will wrap just because they can. Many buy too many accessories and clutter/junk up new vehicles. I have a compulsive nature myself to overdo it. I decided
I want the same metal used on space craft! The Delorean like metal is a core of its uniqueness. Wrapping it to me is like painting a beautiful wood floor.
If keeping rain spots and prints is the primary upside of ceramic I’d rather just deal with the spots. If it’s about the long term protection against oxidation/patina I think the panels will look nearly the same in 10 years if kept clean and garage kept. I’m using Spray Away, and Windex to keep clean and DIY Rinseless Wash. I’m going to mostly avoid Ammonia long term, but sometimes ammonia is a good thing as Colton mentions in video. If there is any kind of ceramic or gloss that comes out that
has ZERO orange in it, I’ll use that.

You need to do BKF BEFORE the Metal Coating, it makes all the difference.
If I apply ceramic I’ll use BKF like you advise. I doubt I’ll put ceramic on. I don’t like the orangey tint. Many might not be able to discern much difference.

Not only is it orangey or patina with the diy, it also looses some of it's clarity.
Colton, do you think you could polish this to a chrome finish and would that actually be easier to clean? I can imagine how awesome this would look in a flashy chrome mirror finish.
You can, unfortunately that is illegal in many places.
Nice topic. What is your opinion on how this coating will hold up with tree sap and bird droppings since they tend to be acidic?
Followed your instructions and had the panel looking great. Put on the DIY ceramic and it got very blotchy. Was glossy and smooth, used the smaller applicator. Any clue as to why? Tried to recoat it and no change.
What about the bumpers or trim?
I have those same fingerprints on both edges of all of my doors. They were there from day 1. I suspect whoever was mounting the doors at the factory or placing the panels at the welder (or whatever step of the process) had something on their hands that etched the steel. Only way to deal with it is to sand the doors. You can tell that it's not a normal fingerprint because it's white where finger oil normally shows darker than the steel
@Wi2Low believe me, I have tried it. Even applying the barkeepers friend with a power buffer. They will not come off. And again, whatever it was happened before delivery
So does this helps with fingerprints? It's driving me nuts and I'm very close to wrapping it.

Deionized water can actually corrode metals, including 300-series stainless steel like the Cybertruck...so I think that might be part of what you were seeing when you sprayed it with the pressure washer.

@@OutofSpecDetailing perhaps I didn't word my statement the best, but its a fact that DI water can be corrosive to metals over the long term. I'm not saying that is necessarily the cause of what you saw, but it would be easy for you to test by also spraying with regular tap water and see what happens.
@@jeffc6832deionized water is physically and chemically impossible to corrode. Rain corrodes because the deionized water picks up particles from the air.

Some text highlights would be nice. Not remotely willing to trudge through 1.2 hours of vid for some of the details I was curious about (did you need to bottles, etc).
