  • Today we will be covering the basic rules of Belegarth! That is pretty much every basic rule except for wounding and death since this would be too long with both of those topics. Check out our video next week for that!
Aside from wounding and death, after watching this video you should understand most of the rules of Belegarth and be able to play after you watch our video on wounds and death. This isn't to say that this is all there is to Belegarth, but you should be fine stepping onto the field after just these 2 videos.
    Timestamps:
    Weapons (blue and green) 0:26
    Shields 2:01
    Arrows and weapons 2:24
    2 handed weapons 3:02
    Missile weapons 4:02
    Armor 5:30
    Valid shots 7:00
    Grapples 9:00
    Shield bash 11:00
    Unofficial rules 12:58
AN IMPORTANT NOTE!!!: I said 'green weapons' instead of '2 handed green weapons.' I even clarified with a spear afterward at 6:20-6:34. I apologize for the confusion. The blue weapons are just slashing, but also viewed as just 1h weapons. A green/blue 1h weapon will not penetrate armor, and any 1h weapon will not penetrate armor unless that 1h weapon is a javelin (which does pierce armor).

Some great information! Thank You! I plan on getting into Belegarth once pandemic is over. This is a great introduction to combat!

I am binging out on your Belegarth videos and being horrifically sad at the pandemic right now because of how badly I want to play this right now.

I hear you. It is terrible! I have only been able to larp online sparsely, but I want to fight as well!!!

@@larpacademia2662 I almost entirely just want to do the fighting, I was thinking of rejoining the SCA but then I remembered all the horrible politics and brownnosing that is why my family left in the first place, and was looking for a decent full contact alternative. There actually are 2 Belegarth groups near me, so if this ever ends I'll be able to give it a shot.

@@perigrin2115 Then Bel or HEMA would be the next best thing. For larping, definitely Bel. As for politics, it depends where you are but there is always politics. I just hope that Bel in your area is better with politics.

Pretty sure stabs to armor do nothing, unless it's a two-handed stab, then it goes through. I think you can even do this with a blue-green weapon.

Piercing isn't an unofficial rule. It's in the BoW. Green weapons always do that. Some people just take the piercing as a limb to make things easier.

Why are your bows so strong? We have a restriction to use only 25 pound bows, our arrow heads are quite big and our shields cannot be destroyed and bows are still incredibly strong. Also why nerf shields by having red weapons be able to destroy them? A weapon like a halbert would already be very strong vs shields as you can also just pull the opponents shield down and stab them. Also our armor equally protects from all hits.
