In this video I review the Atlas Throttle Lock mechanical cruise control for my 2017 Kawasaki Vulcan 650 S. This device works on all model year Vulcan 650 S bikes (2015 - present). The device works by holding the throttle in place using friction and clamps that are activated by the button on the unit. The cruise control is deactivated by pressing the X button. Installation is very easy and Atlas has videos to guide you. Thanks to TLY Rider for installing this on the bike before I purchased it from him (check out his install video linked below).
Overall, the throttle lock works after some trial and error. It can be tricky at times because the throttle slowly decels or accels but the key is to press the activation button VERY hard and finding the sweet spot for the throttle to keep a steady speed. It definitely works and is great to have for highway driving or just slower speed cruising on the scenic country roads. You can buy this cruise control directly from Atlas or from Amazon for $145 (links are below).

Nice video! Solid and honest review. A couple things to note for you: Any acceleration when the ATLAS is engaged isn't caused by the ATLAS itself. This is either the throttle position when engaged (i.e. the throttle is opened just past the sweet spot for cruise and will accelerate slowly) or the bike is on a slight decline. Loss of speed is caused by either the ATLAS slipping, the bike being on a slight incline, or the throttle position when engaged is just below the sweet spot for cruise. This ATLAS appears to be installed correctly and doesn't seem to be slipping from what we can see in the video, though it may be a tiny bit, especially over those bumps.

It’s a throttle lock more than a cruise control. As you encounter wind turbulence or ups and downs in the road, your throttle will continue at the same fuel consumption but your speed will either go up or down just a bit.
this is true, it is a throttle lock that can act as a type of cruise control imo

It seems to me that once it is engaged, that maybe it shouldn't be adjusted. The tension of the lock probably wears down and gets loose when adjusted in lock position. But maybe i'm just guessing. It does seem pretty nice of an addirion though,
Yea it takes some trial and error to get used to. The maker of the device told me that it is meant to be adjustable. Could also be that it's not installed perfectly.
You need a Alan key to tighten on the top…..

Yup I bought from him right away after he posted for sale. I love the matte black color and it was very hard to find a used bike.
It's not cruise control it's a throttle lock.
I would say it's a form of manual cruise control

It works, just takes some practice and adjustment. It's a good low cost option but if you want full automated cruise control you gotta spend the big bucks
