Great video. Short straight to the point. No unnecessary vlogging.
That's my dad in the video! :)
I thought that was Joe!!! Nice video!!
Thank you! been trying to find a good how to for my 01 and i could only find some newer gen forester guides on lifting.
wow the forester rear top hat bolts are so much more accessible than the imprezas
great job man !
Nice video, good looking Fozzy :)
Can you tell me what tire size you're running?
Great vid, Dirtcheapdaily just did one about lifted subarus too good to checkout
What size tire did you run in this with the lift? Gonna lift my 1999 forester and gonna try and put 31s under it
Nice job those would fit 2011 legecy ?
Or ill need spacers for the rear multilink for fixing camber ?
Did you have any issues with your rear springs rubbing?
saludos
ese levantamiento que le hicieron al subaru forester también se le puede hacer a un impreza:?
regards
the uprising they did to subaru forester also may do a impreza :?
Wheels and tires look great. Can you please share size and offset of the wheel and tire size. They look very nice! I would like to do this on 99.
You removed the rear trailing arm bolt to be able to mount the brackets? I am struggling
hello where did you buy this set of spacers
What type/size tires are those??
can you use the same axles ?and also are the diffs limited slip ? you make it look so easy, of course buying the preferred parts. im in australia ,have been borrowing a forester, and for sure will own own before this is handed back , its an absolute pleasure to drive and now i will be heading into the outback for sure. great advice mate. thank you. ray
Hello! Tell me how to buy a lift kit for Forester 2000, SF5?
Amazing fozzy
only for trucks????
What brand rims are those? They look nice. Also what is the most biggest possible tire size you could put after the 2" lift
215/75/r15
Size of all pieces, plss
Nice vid! Do you need trailing arm spacers for front too or just rear? Im about to do a custom 3" lift and trying to figure out how the axles will do on my 99 foz
Just for the rear.
How did you get the rear strut to align since it is now lowered 2 inches? I am trying to install myself and am running into this problem. I already unbolted the small sway bar to try to get it to drop lower
Camber and caster offsets are built in.
Did you ever figure it out? I just ran into this issue today. I couldn’t get the lug nuts back into the base of the strut because the wheel just wouldn’t drop low enough to align. Managed to get a screwdriver through the bottom hole but just could not lift the wheel to get the to lug nut to align.
What size are the trailing arm spacers you are using? I'm planning on getting the set you have
Two inch trailing arm spacers.
Brake line attach point @ 1:27 ... I KNOW THE FEELS BRO...ugh..
hey please help me I'm going to put left spacers on my 2001 subaru forester and I can't find where to get what I need
they have an instruction guide on sumoparts site on how to install spacers for a 2001 subaru forester, its free but its like $10 for shipping idk why
What size tires are those? And did you have to swap the struts so that the tires wouldn't rub?
No need to swap struts. Tires are 215/65/16
I have a 2006 Subaru Forester. What do you recommend? What is the maximum inch lift kit I can use before getting problems with the axles? Thanks in advance!
2-2.5" inch lift. Anything larger and you will have to lower the drivetrain to compensate for the CV angles
do you need the strut spacers on rear and front or just front only
front and rear, and you need trailing arm spacers for the rear so that your tires are still properly aligned.
Border Guy - You do not address the lack of under carriage protection the vehicle demands, if you want to go off roads. Oil pan and transmission's are both very exposed. Any suggestions? I have thought of a 1/2" (12 mm) re-bar construct - from the front to the engine's cross member - with steel washers on their ends, to hold by a 1/2" (12 mm) bolts. I between the front and the engine's cross member, there are supposed to be three or four cross bars, all welded. Your system seems very easy and practical. Any distributors here in Canada? At 2:08, you showed the installation of the Rear system; you do not mention, but does this require an extension of the trailing suspension arm, to prevent the wheel's center from being displaced towards the front, due to its angular position? Thank you very much for video.
1:09 shows the removal of the rear trailing arm and around 2:20 you can see the 2 inch trailing arm spacer. I forgot to put that part of the install in the video.
I ended up installing a Primitive Racing front skid plate, but SUMO now makes and sells skid plates and also side rock sliders. Check out Sumoparts.com
Sorry for the late response.
How are the axles holding up??? I'm getting ready to do a 99 outback. Let me know. Thanks from littleton Co.
No issues yet. You should be able to go up to a 2.5 inch lift without any issues as long as your components are in good working order before hand.
+Border Guy thank you. I'm building a outback in a few weeks.
Is right side driver side? And is there any torque specs?
Driver's side is the left...
Hey i know its been a while since you have answered to this vid but I'm about to put this lift in my 04 subaru xt and just wanted to see if you need to compress the struts? also do the trailing arms only go in the back or the front? thanks for your time!!
No need to compress the springs. The blocks just bolt to the top of the struts. For the two inch lift the trailing arm spacers only go on the rear.
Border Guy awesome thank you!! I'm waiting for my lift and already got my tires ha!
Do you not need arm spacers for the front to retain the correct Geometry since the front is also getting lifted by 2"?
@@evankempkes5570 what front trailing arms?
did you have to do
alignment?
Yes, of course.
How must
those the original rear struts or replaced them? what tyres are those? and size?? looks awesome!
Original struts. Tires are 215/65/16
+Border Guy thnx man!
+roodgeregeld yep!
do you need the trailing arms or no.
They aren't required, but it will adjust the suspension to the proper geometry and recently the wheel in the wheel well
Looks awesome! So the lift spacers and the trailing arm spacers are both 2"? Or is one bigger than the other?
Both 2 inches. Can do custom kits also!
are the trailing arm spacers Mandatory?
Great
Looks awesome! I’d like to do the same to my ‘01. Did you have to install camber bolts in the rear? Any damage to the struts or the CV Boots with the 2” lift? Your engine bay looks meticulously clean! Keep up the great work.
It would have been great if you would have received a response
How i can got this piece to buy
Sumoparts.com
So you didn't have to compress the spring with these spacers? Looks like they just bolt onto the top of each strut. Now I understand why it costs so much more than other lift spacer kits.
No need to compress the spring. Camber and offset is built in to align to factory specs, professional powder coat and the best welds in the game. Prices have also gone down recently as production costs have gone down.
+Border Guy thanks!!
I am installing the Sumo 2" kit right now. No way can you remount the strut without a spring compressor. Need to squeeze it about 3/4" so ordered a cheap compressor from Amazon.
where did you get those rims and are they oem
Sport Edition is the brand. Knock offs.
They are just cheap wheels from Tire Rack.
what's the biggest size tires can you run?
I hear is 31inch on 8inch wheel.
I realize this question was asked a long time ago, but in 16" tires, there are only so many all-terrain tire sizes that will fit in the wheel opening on Subarus, even with the 2" lift. I don't think I would buy anything larger than 215/70/16 (28" tire) unless you can get your money back if it doesn't fit.
I'm running 225/60/16 on my 95 Impreza. That's with 2008 Forrestor XT struts and springs along with 1" drop spacers on the rear trailing arms. I did have to trim a little up front, but it wasn't that much.
Now if only I could find an all-terrain tire. Seem to only be able to find street tires in that size.
im shocked you even got your lift kit. I've been waiting for mines a little over a year now. looks good by the way
Have you hit them up???
Yeah i have. They never pick up , or they say there busy and will call me later. But oh will
+Edgar Munguia I just sent them a message.
+Border Guy thank you.
Edgar Munguia did you get this figured out?
What's the angle like on the cvs
You can lift these Subies about 2.5 inches before you will have problems with the axels
Border Guy what about the outback?
Would you guys want to help me lift my 99 L? I have ADF 2' spacers and trailing arm spacers. I may need to send the old ones back as the kid I bought them off of bent the shit out of them
Of course, send Sumo a message on FB, email or call.
