I live in Israel i have Suzuki swift
I have problems with it stutters and shots of when i stop or pushing the gas pedal... they did throttle clean and it doesn’t worked
Mu biggest problem is with this car shop not mu car problem now the big question

Is it good can it make problems to the electric stuff in the engine??? Cus if so im going to do some big shaming on this car shop
@@shayeladshayelad2416 try a fuel pressure regulator sensor or some new injectors and if it still doesn't work for a new mass air flow sensor and if it randomly keeps shutting off you could have a crapped out camshaft sensor

I have a 2007 Subaru Outback XT. It has a little over 150 thousand on it, and besides a small oil leak that I need to track down, it does fine, and has good power. Heck, I still don't loose more than a quart between oil changes.
I love your videos, and hearing from a fellow car guy that has proper experience and influence.

@@zv1564 I drive 2007 Forester xt (2.5L) I had the same car 2003 and 2005. Leather seats, panoramic sunroof. Serious grunt. What’s not to like? This is a different kind of sexy. For serious studs. Car is faster than a Porsche Boxster....and you don’t need to be bald to drive it like with a Porsche. Lol

I glad Scottie is talking about the Subaru. I have lived in my house for 20 years and I have seen my neighbor with the same white Subaru the entire 20 years .I know she bought that car used. That car amazes me. The old Subaru's run very well. Good video from Sacramento

I just bought a 1998 forester for $750 and a 1990 ford probe for $750 package the probe is a v6 with 125k in perfect condition the subaru 160k runs like me I hope they last me

I have had three Subaru’s one was a 2007 forester all great cars. My forester had 157000 miles. Alas it died early death. Cause teenitis . No not tendinitis. Translation my teen totaled it.

I love love love wagons. I've owned a couple, one being a Subaru legacy gt wagon which was my favorite car ever. I really like foresters too.

Thank you for covering the benefits of Subaru Scotty. I had a 2005 Forester that had 220k on it with the original engine and transmission when I sold it. Key thing is maintenance on these. I’ve had six Subbys and will only buy Subaru.

Scotty, I have a manual 2009 Subaru Forester got it for 3000 in CT! Its got 250000 miles on it and still going strong!
@ it's got a little bit of rust in the back left wheel arch and one of the exhaust pipes got rusted away but I jerry rigged it and now instead of dual exhaust now I have a single exhaust pipe... other than that there is little rust
@ sooner or later, up in north, any vehicle with more than 10 years is going to rust, no exceptions.

@@breadnaut3087 Maybe bad wordage on my part. I didn't purchase it with 250000 miles on it, I added that on. I got it with 180000 miles for 3000. $3000 for a newish awd car in CT is hard to come by.

I got 98 Forester with 220000 miles and it runs great! This is my first car and i learned how to work on cars on this machine and thanks to Scotty also. Winter is coming so its gonna be fun :)

Thanks to Scotty, I replaced my neighbor thermostat in his 08 Honda Civic. 400k miles and still running. Took me about a half hour. My neighbor was shook when I said it’s on the house. He said he was quoted $175. He bought the stat for $10 at autozone. Plus some extra blue Honda coolant I had laying around. Lol

I have a 2003 Subaru Outback with over 200,000 miles, it still runs great! My 1999 Mercury Cougar with 120,000 miles is stuck in park and sits on the drive way.
Me too, the H6 ll bean...I’m just over 155k miles now. It is a great car, got it in 2012 with 50k miles.
Nice! I have a 1988 Cougar with 200,000 Miles and a 2011 Outback with 100,000 Miles. Fox body cougar Isn't a bad car, horrible brakes though.
I love my 2005 Subie Outback, easy to repair. Great for camping, boring as crap. A lot like me. 250k miles, just maintenance issues and 20 plus mpg... and no payments.

My 2008 forester was driven hard all the way up to 205k miles. Towards the last 15k I had these problems, valve cover leak (common), fuel injector leak (common), head gasket leak (common), pcv hose leak (maintenance). It still runs great and drives great. I've recently parked it to build it out to a fun rally build and put a motor with under 65k and a manual trans swap so I can run it hard up to 200k all over again. Nothing has the emotional attachment of a subaru, in my opinion of course
How's it going with the 08 Forester now? I'm about to buy a 08 with a manual, engine recently overhauled at 167k miles. Stoked to get it.
"Who knows. You might turn into a mechanic and make a lot of money on the side". That was a great statement. Seems once you start working on vehicles and equipment it's a never ending task of maintaining and fix. Labor of love. When it's your own and you get to use what you fixed. It certainly is rewarding.
Actually the parts used in the assembly of the Subarus built in Indiana (Subaru of Indiana Automotive) come from all over, not just Japan.
A large percentage are made in America with some from Japan, Mexico, Canada and other countries.
Most body panels (larger ones) are blanked & stamped on site at SIA with some smaller body parts coming from suppliers, mostly in Indiana.
All of the interior parts for the Ascent, Legacy, Outbacks & Imprezas are made in Indiana with the exception of some Ascent parts, they are made in Missouri. The seats, shocks, struts, axle shafts, wheel bearings, exhaust pipes, mufflers, front and rear subframes, brakelines, AC pipes, some of the wheels, headlights & taillights are also made in Indiana. Are you starting to see a theme here? The engines are assembled at SIA using parts from Japan, Indiana & other states. SIA is currently building a transmission assembly facility to also build them on site. Over the years SIA has used or still uses parts from Germany, China, South Korea, Ireland, Australia, Thailand and about anywhere else in the world, just like every other auto maker. SIA uses some of the same suppliers here in the states that Ford, GM, Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes, BMW and others use or have used.
I worked at SIA for over 31 years. The last 22 years in supplier quality assurance so I am quite familiar with the Subaru cars built in Indiana.
Fun fact, we have companies here in the states that make parts for SIA and Subaru Japan. So there are Subarus built in Japan using a few US made components.

You just can't poop on a 4 cylinder subaru. Those things are reliable, practical, will never leave you stuck in winter, allows you to drive like there's no snow on the roads, gives you some off road fun and they're good on gas.
What more would anyone want? Sure petrol heads may say "durrrr more HP bro" but what's the point of having 4, 5 or 600+ horsepower when you can't use all the power without getting your license taken away?

The only engines more reliable in Subarus line than the four cylinder motors are the six cylinder motors.
I have a 2003 Forester that I purchased new and have kept maintained. 240,000 miles on it. I've had to replace the timing chain, head gaskets and catalytic converter. Gone through 2 clutches over the years. But thats it, still runs great and I'd drive it nearly anywhere even today. Reliable as hell. Best car I've ever purchased.

My grandma is 78 years old and driving this car! She's starting to get to that age where she should stop driving, so I am finally gonna learn how to drive (at age 25) and adopt her car to be her chauffeur (+ go on car camping adventures with my dog!). It seems like a very solid and reliable first car for the Northern Norwegian climate I'm in! Thank you for making this informative video :D
Get good winter tires. Vredestein Wintrac Pro are great in winter. I use them in Colorado on my Subaru.

@@sergioherrera3029 having both those issues right now.. man it drinks oil.. cant go 3k miles without being empty.. oil guzzler 😆 rod knock doesn't take long after I realize I'm already low on oil. Now I need a new CV joint on both sides (crank noises when I steer hard slowly.. and when I Rev to get on the highway.. 5 times in 3 years it's happened.. my cruise control is flashing.. disabled.. along with traction control and check engine light on.. until I service it and they reset it.. timing belt? I have 130k miles on it.. last timing chain was at 60k miles.. need a new chain? So many issues with it all at once 😆
I am 74 and I am as strong at Tony the Tiger. I go on the high roof to sweep my own chimney and I ride a Kawasaki 1000.. Let granny drive until she is 99

As someone who lives in Minnesota I love Subaru! It's always handled well in the snow and been reliable. I take it in every 3,000-4,000 miles for maintenance. Haven't had a single major issue and it's at 250,000 miles

I think its because of the cost has risen and the quality has declined among the other brands

Take care of any car brand and they should go a good while. I know several people with Subarus, within 11 years over 200k, a few older ones over 300k. I don’t pay attention to the comments that can’t handle that Subarus are great cars……just Subaru envy 😂😂💩

I had a 2012 subaru impreza 2.0 4cyl w/ 125k miles on er. I live in Northern WV and I'd drive 3hr round trip for my commute to work everyday for 3 years. I drove in every single winter storm from 2017-2019. About 90miles to get on location with 30miles being back roads. That car was a TANK!
One day after a snowstorm one of the backroads had been closed so I took a dirt road that my GPS said would take me around to were the closure had ended.
Well it actual took me down a muddy, icy 4 wheeling type of path... somewhere I would off road with my jeep with. Not my freakin subaru LMAO. But the "road" was so narrow and the ruts were like 8 inches high. Couldn't turn around and it was going up hill. The condition of the path got worse... best way I can describe it is, someone tried to fill in those ruts with large gravel. Looked like baseball sized rock coated mud pyramids, that's how high/deep these ruts where. So... couldn't stop... couldn't turn around. Had to floor it up the hill and the horrible sound of the rocks scraping... I thought it must have ripped my bumper off.
But the impreza pushed throw it without any issues. When I stopped to check after I got back to the road.. the scraping was all on my plastic skid piece underneath the engine.
So I guess I basically the things are incredible.... It sticks to the road.
@@liberals_destroy_everythin2497I should have been more clear. It was the last year I worked in the field, was 1h20min each way. The locations werent much closer before at an hour or 50min. But better than practically 3. And if I'd been a single man. I'd probably stay ina hotel. Its about 325/week just todo that or 65/ish a night.
It was in a rural area.
I honestly got used to the drive home each day quicker than I thought.
But mainly I wanted to see my daughter and wife for a couple hours before leaving. I never had issues with falling asleep while driving
5pm - 5am usually 6 days/week until my schedule changed to 2weeks on n 2 off during the last year. Which made the commute so much easier even tho is was a bit longer..
I have a 2002 Outback with the 2.5 4 cylinder and 4 speed automatic I picked up six years ago and I love it. I'm in Florida and it spent most of it's previous life here as an old lady's car and now has 136K miles on it. Folks have discovered that it's not just snow these cars are good in, they do well in sand as well and there's plenty of that here.
Mine works great for driving over the piles of Democrat's rioting in Portland..........

I have a 2018 Forester, bought in Oct 2017. It's a nicely equiped premium package with the 2.5 L engine. I bought it for $27.5K. The KBB private sale price 5 years later is $26K. I have had zero issues with this car, though it does have low mileage. This is my third Subaru with no serious issues. BTW, I live in western MA where we get lots of snow. My street has 40 houses and half of those are Subaru owners.

I've always loved Subarus. My dad owned one when I was a kid. I loved that little 4wd button on his gear shifter he'd let my brother and I press when we were about to drive on a mountain road. But hearing Scotty dog them, I've been wary to get one. But if there's some that pass the Scotty Killer test, I'd get it. Lol
Subaru's also happen to be among the safest vehicles out there. AWD is also really nice in areas with torrential rain.

One of the main reasons that Forester held up well despite the high mileage is the fact Subarus were still using regular automatics back then before they switched to CVTs.
Their manuals still hold up.

I'll upgrade my 2011 Forester when it dies (155k mikes now) with an 2016 manual for sure, even if it's lacks tech, all that is secondary. now I want a car that has less sensors so I can drive in peace lol and keep maintaining and fixing myself. Same FB25 engine they using on 2021 turbo sport Crosstrek. So I will turbo that engine for sure later if I can. Would be the perfect car but hard to find with premium upgrades, I really like the rear spoiler look.
Love Subaru, but yeah the new CVTs you need to change almost as often as the oil...

I sold my 2018 Jeep Renegade and bought a 2006 Subaru Outback. It needs a little work but the AWD is more grippy than my Jeep was in 4LO and the suspension is tighter. Just feels more quality even at 180K miles
I had the same forester but it was manual. I sold it as soon as it started to overheat. That car works wonders in the snow.
In Houston for the review/fix and Tenesee for the Bonus Q&A, the ultimate commute. Scotty will do anything for his customers.
Hi Scotty, love your videos, I’m in Australia and these are everywhere, I have a 2000 gt turbo model, it is the best car I have ever owned,had the head gaskets go, so I got that fixed and have put a lot of love in it, water pumps, valves, valve springs timing kit ect it has just it 350,000 kms (217,000 miles) and still have lots of life left, I look after it well and the turbo is great, it has plenty of grunt when I need it....makes some cool sounds too
Bought one of those for my grandaughter. Best winter car around. Besides the best awd system it came with heated seats and mirrors. Special defrost in the windshield to de-ice the wipers and also rear sideglass defrosters. Rides way better than anything else i've driven with that wheelbase. The flat four(boxer) engine gives the car a lower center of gravity. Also has great visibility. Very practical car for the price especially in the great white north
I love my 5 speed 2012 Forester. Be careful about using the windshield de-icer when when it's really cold. My brother had an older (2000ish) Forester and used the de-icer one cold morning and it cracked his windshield.
My 04 outback with the same ej25 engine has about 140k miles and is a fantastic tow vehicle for my popup camper. It's a beast and I love it.

2006 forester XT was one of my favorite cars to drive. Fun as hell in the winters in Michigan. Drove it to 220,000 miles with little drama. Burned a little oil but that's about it. Keep an eye on your oil level!
My 02 forester is a beast it can take you anywhere and give you no issues not the best gas not the best off the line in speed but man what a car

Just got a 2023 Outback. Yesterday we had a full 12" of sunshine and it handled it like a trooper.
It's true I live in Maine and I love cruizing by people in snow storms. Never been stuck in 8 winters driving them.
Scotty, you finally drove a Subaru. WOW, you finally now like a Subaru. My wife's 2017 Subaru Outback is the best car for what it was made to do. We live in a hilly region in snowy CT.
Got a 97' outback wagon back in 05' w/ 85 k on it , & it's 21' now , w/ 210k on it & she's worn around the edges but still kick'in! 👍😎

My 2019 Subaru Ascent is a great vehicle; much more upscale than I would have imagined. The twin scroll turbo boxer engine has loads of power and torque; I don’t miss a V6 at all. Very sure footed in snow and rain.

My 2010 Forrester is the best car I've ever owned. She has 210k miles on her and the only thing I've had to do is oil changes and brake pads. I don't see needing a new car for another 10 years.

Hey Scotty, you are a legend. I am in NZ, got a 2009 Legacy wagon in 2012 with 100000kms and it is now 300000kms and still goes sweet.

2.5l just sold it and bought a 2017 Outback 2.5. Same car just more tech. Am very pleased

My 2004 Subaru WRX Wagon is now at 235k miles. Finally had to replace the original manual transmission (clutch) at 230k miles. Had to replace the radiator at 192k miles. Other than those two things, I've done only regular maintenance and the car runs like new. Most reliable vehicle I've ever owned! And it's FUN to drive!

Started leasing a 2020 Forester in May, so far no complaints. Eyesight system and rear-view camera works great. Comfortable and great visibility all around. I have the Sport version and use the Sport Sharp mode all the time, which does make a difference in pickup and handling.
I now rarely use the sport sharp mode, the Intelligent mode seems to now be stronger in pickup etc, than earlier. Perhaps it just needed some breaking in for the Intelligent mode to give better performance,.
I have a 2015 Subaru Forester and love it. I have replaced a few things in the front end, but nothing major. I keep up with the maintenance and love it.
my '98 suby with ej20,122cv, with 5-speed and reduced gearbox, has 650,000km or 403,000 miles on its shoulders and is still perfectly efficient ... it climbs everywhere ... it never left me on foot ... it has me always brought everywhere and always brought home! how to say .... old but not obsolete!☝️ mine is a boy not a girl!😎 A hug from Italy ! Wow! Mine I bought at 348,000km and it now has 356, head gasket was replaced and newer clutch and I daily drive it about 80km daily. No issues so far.

I bought a 2002 Subaru Legacy Outback with 56,000 miles on it and have had it for 20 years! it's only got about 119,000 miles on it now. did change the timing belt and head gasket a few years ago and it's still going strong.
Finally I can hear from you the truth about Subaru. In the past I've feel that you had something against them. I have the next generation of Forester, I live in Europe, and we have some snow in here. Since I've got this car, 2006 Forester, I can't make the difference between driving in snow in the winter. I can't understand why people drive so slow when it snows. Also I live on a hill, was very hard to climb it when snowing. Now, each year, I'm the only one going up the hill, with ease. Each year I have to pull up a few cars that get stuck. Is a private road and no one maintain it, I don't have to shovel, just put the car to work. In a Subaru all seams normal in winter.
Is very comfortable on forest roads, or unpaved roads, I take it offroad, and is very capable, I have a 2 inch lift and some BF Goodrich all terrain tires. The car performs really well. I'm happy that you make this video that confirms what I feel and know about Forester from my own experience with this car.
Scotty, you forgot to mention Subarus almost always ace crash tests. Impressive when compared to other much larger brands

I'm glad you like it, Scotty. I bought an 03 Forester last year 190k miles for 1,500 as a work vehicle. A friend of mine says it's a great car and low maintenance. I was hoping I didn't make a bad purchase. I like how it ride, feels solid, knowing that they're reasonably priced is good to know because I'm getting a 2021 soon.

Awesome cars I had a 03 from my mom which bought it brand new. It is still running it now has 210k miles and transmission is the only thing that got changed around 190k. But extremely reliable though I got a wrx now it still runs perfectly.
subarus are great, the inside doesn’t rattle and fall apart like toyota’s. The bumper doesn’t chip, crack and fall off like toyota’s. A lot of pros. The paint stays on great too

I bought a 1999 Outback wagon new and drove it for 9 years with only oil changes a set of tires. Sold it for 2K over blue book to the first looker. Best car I ever had and the AWD alone was worth it. Handled great. I'm contemplating getting another one.

Checking in from Atlantic Canada. My family has had something like 6 Subaru's over the years. Horrible gas mileage but as soon as the weather goes bad... that all wheel drive system will get you anywhere you need to be. Its incredible.
they really dont though, Im not sure what the old ones were getting but my 2020 forester sport is getting 32 highway and 24 street with a 24-26 combined
@@returnfreedom yeah we were those late 90s early 2000’s Subaru people. 17mpg if you were lucky in the older ones we had a 98 Legacy GT wagon + a 98 forester and kept the legacy forester combo going until 2015 when all my siblings left the house mum got herself a Corolla because she was no longer doing a 20km drive to town in all weather. Our last forester was an 07 we retired in 2015 with well over 300,000km. A friend of mine has a 2021 Crosstrek and that thing does 26mpg combined all day.. subaru figured their stuff out lately!

Bought a 2008 Forester in New Zealand made in Jp's right-hand drive. 165k km drive train is solid. Impressed with the build, size and ride. A great option for taller drivers. More room than a Lexus 350. All wheel drive is fabulous on Aucklands winding back roads. Great car!

I just bought my girlfriend a 2005 Forester X 137,000 owned by an older man had never even been downshifted timing belt done at 103,000 its gonna run forever and has a cool party trick the defroster coils are also on the rear hatch driverside window that's genius for winter highway passing.

Years ago I bought a 94 Subaru legacy wagon for $1,000 it had 128k on it and was paired with a manual transmission. I drove that car for 5 years and put 100,000 miles on it. By far one of the best buys I've ever made. I still miss that car to this day..
I live in Wisconsin and just bought a 2002 Subaru impreza outback sport 2.5 n/a and I cant wait for it to snow this winter I'm gonna have so much fun
My 2003 Forrester has 78,000 and I haven't had any problems except for the oxygen sensor two years ago. The all wheel drive in great in rain. I once got caught in a heavy snow storm and had great traction.
2005 back when the head gasket was redesigned the first time and some of the problems were eliminated. In 2010 they redid the design again and the problem was essentially eliminated. I have a 2013 Legacy with 110,000 and no problems at all with the five speed automatic. Live in CT, a top 10 state by far for Subaru.
I thought they didn't take care of the head gasket problem until 2012.
@@Yellow-Rose On some models that is true. Starting with the redesigned Legacy in 2010 it replaced the poorly designed head gasket on the EJ engine with the improved FA, FB, and more recently the CB engine (2020).
2005 Forester, hands down the best vehicle I ever owned (50 years). Lost it due to catastrophic timing belt blowout at high speed, had 230,000 miles on it

I have a 2005 Subaru Forester 182,000 miles with stick shift. Very happy with it.
The EJ253 has been mostly good to me but I had to replace a set of head gaskets on a 2010 Impreza. The head gaskets were the bad design. I put in a set of the stacked steel type used by STI and have not had any problems. My 2009 Forester has never had a head gasket issue and I suspect that the STI design head gaskets were installed in it from the factory.
I want to buy a newer one but the CVT used by the newer models worries me and I want to wait until they are shown to be reliable. The old 4 speed automatic transmissions were an old design that had the bugs worked out and are extremely reliable.

In 2021 I bought an ‘05 Forester (2.5 L) with 114,000 km on it for CDN $1,100.
Great condition, barely used, no complaints, except for the Check Engine lite and flashing Cruise Control lite, so I changed the O2 sensor on the pipe. It worked for about a month, until the instant I finally hit the highway. These lites came back in the second I stomped on the accelerator for my road trip.
From someone that had a 2013 outback 3.6 and a 2014 outback 3.6. They do tick but once you use a good high quality synthetic its better. I drive mine like I stole it and no issues as of right now
My 2006 Baja has 225,000, still going strong!

I have an O4 Forester, live east of the cascades in Oregon. As our search and rescue folks say, they find Subarus in places that surprise them. They can't be stopped. Put mud and snow light truck tires and it's what snow. And in the Australia outback...well...foresters and outbacks are extremely popular. Great cars if your not drag racing. West coast here been hammered with snow. Major highways closed, me and my Subaru driving out to Louisiana for a visit this week. I have no worries, snow, mud, rain, bring it.
