@@rocknrye9273 I think I made this comment prior to seeing the final dyno numbers. Either way, making that kind of power on a 1.6 SINGLE CAM is impressive. Not many people can do that or will do that with a motor like this.

@@jonathansalgado9194 they definitely do take a lot of time, knowledge, and of course money to make they stay together when pushing them over 500hp. A few years ago I built a single cam, made 583whp, and had the head lift, I then decided to do more things to the motor to strengthen it, but then realized I was just throwing money away and could build something a lot better for the same cost

Makes me miss my old single cam. First in the states to run 127mph in the quarter. Back in 2002
Mine was a full 100% street car running 10s in 2008. It was full weight and under 400hp. My build was all about efficiency and longevity. Fuck them transmissions though lol... until i went to a CG trans.
Damn that car is clean. I love the wheel package and offset chosen. Seems like a super solid and well thought out build. Very nice 👌

I miss my single cam d series only made 15 lbs with injectors and fuel pump on stock everything what a ripper that was 20 years ago with the cast greddy turbo kit amazing how far the world has came

Unbelievable car
Would love to see an f series build. They're pretty cool little single overhead cam engines and they have cast-iron sleeves. And let's not even forget that you can put an h series head on an f series block and make a really cool Frankenstein motor. The old-school Honda guys will know what I'm talking about. Anyways so cool seeing so much being wrung out of a d series. Cheers from Northern Kentucky 🤘

I do not miss blowing head gaskets on single cams… built a z6 back in the day… went through 3 or 4. Car had arp studs.. was well tuned… not fun

On my way to work n just in time for PFI time.
I would make sure that the air filter on the single cam isn't the type where the middle plastic piece melts and falls into the turbo.

Right before the end the pull there's a little water coming out of the intercooler (11:51) wonder if the intercooler has a pin hole and could potentially be a boost leak ? 😅

5% correction on air fuel ratio, it will pull 5% if running rich or add for lean

But my 97 with the 1.6 single cam would troll Mustangs and Camaros to over 140 mph! 😁
Well the problem as you can see with these sohc motors is the heads will pretty much always lift... so it'll get a few good runs then it'll pop.

This is how PFI builds should look. If they built this car it would be covered in greasie hand prints, dirt and grime all over it. Lol. Shane's rat stache hairs stuck on the interior. Take some pride....even clean the dyno screen display, has like sticky pop splattered all over it. Clean up and finish what was started as far as cleaning up the shop. Make it a place everyone wants to take their cars too.
@7:11 front right wheel was moving around a bit compared to the right!, shame the head lifted on the single cam that thing is sweet.

The reason Why u test on the dyno is to find these issues. Better that this happend on the dyno then it happen at 160 on the track and that thing lose control and hit a wall. Sick single cam tho

With the single cams, what do people do for bigger head studs? I’ve heard of people drilling and tapping for b series ones but does that make that much more of a difference?
Just get it tapped to fit L19 studs from arp only if you're serious about the power
single jingles would be cool if you could keep 3rd gear in them, for somewhat cheap.
