🩺ABOUT DR. BREWER
Dr. Brewer started as an Emergency Doctor. After seeing too many preventable heart attacks, he went to Johns Hopkins to learn Preventive Medicine. While there, he went on to run the post-graduate training program (residency) in Preventive Medicine. From there, he made a career of practicing and managing preventive medicine and primary care clinics. His later role in this area was Chief Medical Officer for Premise, which has close to 1,000 primary care/prevention clinics. He was also the Chief Medical Officer for MDLIVE, the second largest telemedicine company. More recently, he founded PrevMed, a heart attack, and stroke prevention clinic.
At PrevMed, we focus on heart attack, stroke, and cognitive decline. We serve patients who have already experienced an event as well as those who have not developed a diagnosis or event. Dr. Brewer provides services via telemedicine. We find a lot of undiagnosed prediabetes or insulin resistance. Treating unrecognized risk factors like prediabetes allows reduction of risk and prevention of disease.

MTHFR is real. Your thoughts on supplemental TMG for energy?
Hello Dr. Brewer, I have FH and I am taking Niacin. I noticed recently that my homocysteine level was high (40micromol/l). My question : does Niacin raise Homocysteine? I checked a blood test I did a year ago, my folate was 11nmol/l (low). Could it be because of that? Thanks
Liver and Brewers yeast for B vitamins 😊👌
If you have the wrong genes, you’ll need to get eg homocysteine tested or risk consequences.
I have this MTHFR polymorphism, and I'm not sure that I can metabolize natural folate even from these rich sources.
Brewers yeast doesn't contain the whole b complex family.
Liver yes!
Thank You!
Great video, is there same problem for vit C? Thanks
Not the same mechanism, but my son has a vitamin C transporter deficit.
Would taking natural sources of B vitamins solve this poor digestion issue?
What B-complex supplement do you recommend?
I began taking methylated B-12 and Folate and my homocysteine dropped like a rock, from 14.9 to 6.8
What brand did you get?
@@michelemertes1370 Bluebonnet Methylcobalamin 5000mcg B-12 chewable and Jarrow Methyl Folate 400mcg
Nice. Is this something you have to continually take?
I do
@@niellalien i take opti methyl b and i will have to take it for the rest of my life
Does Zetia help LPa?
I'm not a doctor but I have high Lpa and taking Ezetemibe for the past 15 years and it doesn't reduce Lpa. Only Niacin does that. Been taking PCSK9 inhibitors also (Repatha or Leqvio injections) and these help. Was told L-carnitine and Omega3 fish and krill oil help as well.
