Replacing Cabin / Air Conditioning Filter on my 1998 Toyota Corolla G6R

- Replacing the air conditioning filter can really help your health when driving your car by cleaning nasty smoke from car exhausts, pollen and dust (a must for people who are allergic, such as me). It will also improve airflow to the interior, which will make it easier for you to defrost your windshield, for example. Here I show you how to make this simple change on a Toyota Corolla G6R (1998).
Thanks for the tutorial my friend. Never knew the E11 had this filter after so many years owning one. Replaced mine today for a Blueprint one, 15€, wasn't as badly dirty as yours were but made a difference in the blowing potence. Again thanks for having this video posted.

1998 and 1999 Toyota Corolla's sold in the US do not have cabin filters. They were added in 2000. I have a 1999 Corolla LE

It is true that changing the cabin air filter (with AC or not) is a great thing to do. I just found it hilarious when he was showing performance at the end. All of the crap flying out of the vents into the camera. LOL. Definitely time to clean the whole thing and it would take time to flush out that crap too. Just funny.
Step 1. Place newspaper on the carpet before attempting to remove dirty filter. And wear a mask.
Looks like a good idea to use a air compressor to blow out the slot where the filter goes into to clean out the remnants of dust up in there
Wipe out the bigger stuff from the bottom and then run the fan on max for about 30 seconds, all clean.

As my car doesn't get serviced by Toyota, I don't suppose the filter has been changed for a long time.
I am just going to pick one up (€13.5), and hope to change it this afternoon. I have a right-hand-drive car, so will be aware of which way to bend the filter, thanks to your demonstration.
My 98 toyota corolla LE (US) does not have a cabin filter.
i have a 98 corolla CE, did some research and found out it doesn't have a cabin filter, just a plastic mesh that stops leaves n stuff, so i don't need one, thanks anyway
where is that plastic mesh and it needs to be washed? my cars is like yours..Thanks

Not all corolla has the filter here, some of the versions the filter located with the engine.
Can you tell me more about it? My 1994 Toyota Corolla has AC problems that from last summer no one had a clue about. A mechanic today said that it would be very expensive to clean the filter because it cannot be taken out easily. Other sources say it doesn't exist. My head is fairly spinning.

Note that this video is for 1998 Corolla "G6R". I don't know what G6R is, but for LE the cabin filter doesn't exist (at the same place as the G6R, at the normal place behind the glove box, or at all). I just went out to the car to check.
The corollas in America are different to the ones in Europe/Asia. The G6R is a sport 1.6l model of the Corollas over here.

You are very welcome, remember always make a good grounding system for all circuits no matter what they are. House, car, appliances, ect. You cant have enough ground. When you create an electrical system start with ground first. If you have an electrical problem always check your grounding system FIRST.

@@reymagat4406 my E11 is from October 1997, European version, it was one of the first from this model and I just changed this air filter today. So it's not 2000 or above only, maybe it can be a zone thing, I don't know.

have you tried japancars.ru/index.php?route=catalog/toyota ? I know that this is in russian, but it has the diagrams that were removed from toyodiy. Use chrome and the translate option and you should find what you are looking for :-)
