- Got a message from a viewer about a car that was for sale in a storage unit. They sent me a few photos and I had to see it in person. Over 200 miles and a 4 hours later this is what we found.

Even Firebird guys appreciate a Judge.
Indeed, such a great opportunity I could not pass up.
Keep the Judge. With your dedication to Pontiac's, I can't imagine anyone more deserving of the real deal. My son has a 68 GTO (242 code) but nothing like the PHS doc's. I'm sure we are going to learn a ton from your new project.
I am so looking forward to this build it is my first actual ram air car as well. Owning one was on my bucket list never thought it would happen
I used to own a 69 GTO which I made into a Judge Tribute car 40 yrs ago, pumped a ton of money into it to have a fast street car including a big block chev engine, I would keep the Judge and make it factory stock, it will be worth so much more in terms of value and authenticity, keep up the good work
Definitely keeping the judge, just sold the lemans to help fund the effort.
Quite the project. Big investment. Especially to add to the collection.
Yes indeed! not sure I will keep it when done Jury is still out
Keep the original 242 Judge!!💪🇺🇸💪
Yup. Kept it and sold the lemans
Love the project! Alt, name for the channel. Most understanding Family ever! Can't wait to watch the re birth!
Awesome! Thank you!
Great find Jon.
Very excited to see the full resto process
I wish I could just play cars all day and get started now! This one is put up until I can get it inline for the VVG level overhaul. Should be a nice car.
I had a 69 GTO convertible with the rear deck wing and hood mounted tach , this was back in 1986 it was missing it engine when I got it so I put a 71 455 with 69 428 heads on it ! Awesome car !
I bet that was fun to drive and 1986 prices it was affordable to buy as well.
Keep the real Judge for sure. Would be a great rebuild series.
Yup the judge is definitely a keeper. I am already collecting parts.
What a cool car Buddy, you deserve it all your hard work is paying off. Believe me, if anybody can bring this GTO judge back to life, it's definitely you Got to save them goats 😁
Thanks friend. The cars are cool but the friendships have been priceless
Good find! With any luck the original quarter may still be under the new panel and may be repairable!
That is my hopes i see removing it and cleaning up the edges and put it back on. Worth the time to keep original metal
I feel.
Can’t wait to see this build!
you and me both. I am very grateful for the opportunity. dream come true really.
Awesome find. I look forward to the build videos.
Me too. This car wasn’t in the plans but I could not let it pass me by.
Hi Jon.. it’s your friend up N in Toronto.. 😂 . U,ve made a great choice in my mind . This car should bring big $$$ & u should be able to bring this car back to where it should be . I’ve seen your work . Looking forward to seeing what you do with this ‘beautiful’ car.. mmmmm
This car a loads of potential, needs work but nothing extreme and will make for a nice car.
You’ll have that car looking and driving as new when done.
I can’t wait to be driving this one. gonna have to update the channel name if I do it on CZcams. 🤔
Looking forward to the series, Jon!
I am beyond excited to build this car. Seems to Give me more motivation to get current projects done so that I can get started.
This is exciting! I can't wait to see the work on this one too
I am also very excited to build this one.
Cool new project!!!!
very cool and still can’t believe I have one.
I can’t wait to see you start working on this one! I’m working on my 68 GTO so this will be very similar to what I have. Keep up the amazing work!
I am equally excited to build this car. It wasn’t on the radar to buy or restore a GTO but the price was right and had to get it.
You are one lucky man, keep up the awesome work.
I am very grateful that this car worked out for me. It truly is a dream come true for me
Congratulations!! Have fun with the project!!
I am looking foreword to this one!
Judge, 242 vin all day! I have a PHS for the 71 GT-37 as well. My car was darn near $4400 when new. This new project is much more together, than mine lol....
The phs is interesting to read for sure, the cost of options is amazing, like $10 , $5 $337 for the judge option. Crazy how cheap it was.
This is gonna be a great build!
I am so ready to build this one now.
Go fore the real deal. I'll love to see you make a 66 GTO some day
I did a plum mist purple 1967 really liked that car.
Great find!
this one found me and so very glad it did.
this is going to be fun to go through. can't wait
This build will be an awesome one for sure. Will be the first ram air car I have done.
Congratulations on that great find buddy !
thank you very much! this was better then winning the lottery to me.
Very cool. Looking forward to seeing this build. Brings back memories of my ‘68 GTO I should have never sold. Awesome find.👍
It’s no doubt I love my old Pontiacs, definitely a bird guy but always had a spot for a GTO especially a judge.
Love the resurrection builds and ready to see the GOAT come to life! Awesome content John!!!
More to come! I have few commitments before the judge, this wasn’t part of my original plans for the channel but so worth grabbin it now.
Nice find.😊
Indeed it’s a dream come true for me.
Good stuff!
Indeed.
Awesome project!
Thank you!
Nice project!!
thanks. very excited to see this car looking like new again
I have gauges and a spare dash and other misc. let me know. When you start yours I’ll start mine...it’s nice being retired, finishing up on the conv. Now.
Heck yeah. I will keep you posted.
I have 2 sets of 62 heads, not sure on date codes but I can find out easy enough. Mine is Z code, weird optioned, hide aways and no power steering. It’s code 72/72 so no vinyl top. In about the same condition. Keep in touch. Mickey
I also have two sets of 62s. I have been told by the “experts” that is not correct but I have read some cars had 16s and maybe 62s. Especially early production cars
@@VinylVillageGarage Since it's a ram air car, you'll want #48 heads.
Man, nice, a little buffing and polishing you will be rolling down the road jamming on them 6X9's to some old time rock&roll 👍
Oh yeah!
WOW, that's Awesome!👍
Sure is! never figured I would own a judge. I know it needs work but I know a guy.
Absolutely amazing John,,real 69 GTO
real life dream come true! very excited abiut this one.
I would say to keep both cars, but if I had to chose, build and keep the Judge- Unicorns are hard to come by.
Lol I wish I had room to keep them all. Definitely keeping the judge.
Nice. Depending where your car was built, my 69 convertible is a early production in February. Who knows, might’ve been on the same line.
Best I can tell BT plant code equals Texas.
Nice 👍
Thanks!
Freaking awesome!!!!!!
and it doesn’t need a roof replacement
Nice car cant believe how little rust is on it. Like you I was always less concerned with originality until I started researching my 65 convert. It was pHS verified as tripower 4 spd so now I am looking for a date code correct block…. Not sure I will find one at a reasonable price ….
Wow tripower 4 spd. I agree A date coded block would be amazing to have for that.
Sweet. 😎
Wish it was the next one up to do.
@@VinylVillageGarage all in time. 😎
Congratulations! Welcome to the club. Black stripes or blue?
thanks! still feels like a dream to me I never figured I would have an opportunity like this. I am going with blue. it has been determined it was one of the first 2,000 so they all had the blue stripes.
I’ve heard the same about the blue stripes but I *think* the opposite is true. The stripes wrapped around about 3/16” on to the inside of the door frame and fenders. You should have some remnants in there if you poke around. Mine is an early car ( 1st week of February?) and is the only carousel red 69 judge I have seen with black stripes. I suspect some original black stripe cars are running around with blue stripes since they look a bit better.
@lidpainter100 I will definitely be on the lookout during disassembly for sure.
the paperwork you showed....how did you get that and can the same info be available for Camaros??
That paper work is from PHS Pontiac historical services. Someone bought all the Pontiac sales build sheets and the sells copies for a profit. Unfortunately no one did that with Chevrolet.
Definitely sell the lemans. Mines is a and 1970 GTO with PHS. I definitely don't like the original granada gold color. I want to change that, but unsure if hurts the value. Also you come across any sail panels only or trunklids for a 70 gto, would you please let me know.
already sold the lemans, it went surprisingly quick too. if I turn up any 70 GTO bits in my search for part I will let you know.
Thanks a bunch
48’s are for 4 speeds only.
That’s what I thought as well, just wish I had proof to keep the world happy with that answer
That’s a “no brainer “ . Keep the true JUDGE 😊
done! and already sold the Lemans too.
Decide after an acid dip.
That is the plan. I suspect I will not find much rot but that is part of the experience and excitement when it comes back.
@@VinylVillageGarage Right. Well worth it, though. Good luck.
@@noampitlik2332 I agree dipping this one is the best for cleaning with minimal damaged to the sheet metal. It has silly amounts of paint on it. If I where to media blast it I am certain it would kill the panels.
Keep ‘em both? The real Judge could get too nice to daily drive (or walk away from in a parking lot), havin a “tribute” car as a daily would be ideal.
Wish I had room to keep them all
I have a bunch of 48s i would possibly trade for the twelves im in the dayton ohio area
That is a reasonable drive and definitely willing to trade. The heads on the engine don’t have the valves in them. I have valves in another set of heads i believe they are also 13 or 12 but the casting is deteriorated to bad to read anymore
Which color was it originally? Is that the color you're going to put on it?
Carousel red was the original color and going back that way too
💪😎
Looking forward to driving this one
Sell the Lemans by all means
Already did and saved the money to invest into the judge
Gotta Save Them Goats?
I have a zoo now. Lol.
I know a guy who can make the real gto look better than the tribute car... 😉
Well I know a guy too. Lol
@@VinylVillageGarage same guy..
who cares what the vin shows, I suppose you wouldn't want anyone to see your license plate either so you drive around with a piece of cardboard over it, Right......
Well it is simple, dishonest people can duplicate and stamp their own vin tag and install it on any car. I would rather not make it that easy. Yea at a car show I won’t have it covered. But I doubt a lazy person will expend the energy to go to a car show not to mention they don’t want to be seen either because it’s easy to hide behind a key board and a monitor and steal things I figured I will make them work for it.
