- The sun is being capricious again while I recommend some of my favourite historical fiction: The Garden of Evening Mists and The Gift of Rain, both by Malaysian author Tan Twan Eng, both dealing with the Japanese occupation of Malaya during WWII and with its aftermath.
Tan Twan Eng reading the kamikaze pilot episode from The Garden of Evening Mists (spoiler-free, from 26:45 onwards): www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p03w...

What an interesting review of these books. I have them on my shelves and feel very keen to pick them up now. I am enjoying your videos.
Thank you! I wish I could pick them up for the first time again myself. The Garden of Evening Mists was such a lovely surprise. :)
The Garden of Evening Mists is still waiting in my audible queue its been pushed down a bit by the Jhalak books as they have a deadline but its very very patient.
Have a lovely Easter and/or long weekend - I assume you get long weekends in Germany too!
Well, at the rate at which you're going through the Jhalak books, it looks like The Garden of Evening Mists won't have to be patient much longer! :D
