You surprised me too, you got the diffuser and lense in the wrong way round, the hard plastic goes in first and the lense on top, on that model the backlights will come on with just the power board fitted and no other boards need to be fitted, it's very common for LG and Samsung sets to burn up, more bamage occurs on edge lit panels.
I bought a Philips plasma TV around 12 years ago that was faulty, got it home and the problem was it was stuck in stand by mode, dried out electrolytic capacitors in the power stage were to blame, I duly replaced them and away she went! Still got the TV today in my living room but she's a very heavy TV.
Very interesting. Last flat screen I repaired was a first gen LCD and it had a single CCFL tube in the bottom. I've always wondered what the arrangement of LEDs was like in newer screens.
I have a 40" Samsung to sort out - dead backlight and power shutdown. I've been putting it off for about a year now. When it was working, you could see finger marks on the screen. At first, I thought it was pressure marks from the outside, but on closer inspection it looked more like greasy finger marks on the inside. This poor old set's been got at! Now, when you found the burnt piece, my first thought was to paint the metal back shell with white automotive spray paint, but your little patch repair seems to have worked well. Now, don't be getting high on LCD TV repairs or we'll be losing another vintage telly mender!
I had already replaced LEDs From Some TVs like Samsung, Telefunken and so, everyone is a pain in the as to disassemble. (first time) Some LED Stripes are Glued, some easy to take of. But i never saw a damage like that one. My Actual TV need also to reapaired, but it is Curved TV, and i am afraid to brake the pannel. Some of the LEDs ale Shining blue. Thank you for the Video.
Bloody heck just string in a bunch of led stip lights a bodge wire it in and mount a dc speed controller/dimmer on the back and hot wire the circuit board into thinking the leds are ok LOL. i wondered if i could do that to mine just to see it done up wrongly lol🤔🙃😉
Might be modern telly but going on fire is a very old fashioned problem! Definitely prefer it to some surface mount grain of sand sized chip going kaput
Good job. Samsung model numbers can be deciphered as follows: First letter is the screen type: U for LED backlit or L for CCFL backlit. Others exist but these are the ones I know. Next is the region code so E is self-explanatory After that is the screen size in inches After the screen size is the one you want. The letter represents the year that the model was released and increments each year from 2008. So D would be from 2011. After the year code is the series (series 5 in this case) I still have an LE40C530 (2010 CCFL model) as a daily driver. Works grand so feel no need to replace it.
Nice job, and it makes me want to actually get round to fixing my old Panny 50" that I have the LEDs for but it's sat in a corner 'cos I'm scared of pulling it apart lol. I was expecting the worst though when you had the screen balancing on the edge of the frame at 90 degrees with the tabs still attached mind - aren't those things super-delicate? Certainly wasn't a "boring" video fella, I found it entertaining!

Good work! As you say though, is it worth it? I suppose if you get one free with the remote in otherwise good condition (and have a use for it!) then spending a few quid on a backlight kit is worthwhile.
What a great video! Considering this is not something you regularly tackle, I thought you did a great job and the explanation will surely be helpful to others attempting a similar repair. Especially given your slightly restricted space. Good that you managed to get the LED strips from AliExpress. I couldn't find these when I fixed one of these (not so smart TVs) recently, so I had to resort to replacing individual LEDs. Some were short - obviously dark inside, some were open circuit - not obvious, so I had to test each one individually. That's a lot of LEDs!! I was surprised to see the burnt reflector sheet. I guess the LEDs run quite hard as they are on a copper strip - presumably to try to shunt some of the heat. And yes, like Jason J's comment - I was slightly terrified when watching you with the LCD panel wobbling about while still attached!! Glad you took it off. Good result in the end - nice job!!!
its no joke , the amount of sets i have done , you put 20 screws in the back , switch on and theirs no sound because you forgot to plug the speakers back in !
I do alot of tvs, how long the leds last is anyones guess, iv one in the bedroom i replaced 2 leds on , and thats still going 3 years on, used daily, some last 2 weeks out of the factory .
not boring atall as been offered a samsung smart tv, with some leds out. its £40 for 42 inch is pretty good, not sure thou as broken should realy be free :) whats your thoughts?
Never mind repairing the TV, Ojnoj! ... What I want to know is, does your iron need repairing too? ... I've NEVER seen such a wrinkly white coat! 👎🤣 Now, if I was watching on 405 lines, the creases wouldn't show up as much! 📺 Instead of the plastic sheet, why doesn't the manufacturer paint the metal back white?

Well done, I was shouting at the screen about that amber handled screwdriver under the blanket at 05:34, I'd have definitely cracked the screen.
I know, I laughed my head off when the panel went carefully on top of that screwdriver!
Great video you clever man!

Newer ones are edge lit, that's how they're slimmer.

Any I do, I do on the living room carpet!
Well done, but not as much fun to fix as an old tube set.

Great job 👍
Well done that man!!
Very good what a result never say never
I wasn't the only one shouting out, the speakers Jonjo... 😂
Good job done but did you fit the speakers or did I miss that bit ? Test card looked ok when you finished anyway 👍
These plastic sheets have an order and a position, the bottom one is the thickest, it is best to remove all together to avoid changing the order

You should never play natural fire videos on the flat screens 🤣
Surprised this thing didn't burn the previous owner's house down.
I'm at 41:53 wondering when you're putting the two speakers back in!
Of course, cough cough, he only lashed it together to, cough cough test it, cough cough before final assembly 😜
@@gerrybvr Bet they’re in there now though Ger 😂

Luckily I only had the few screws in, I've often done it though 😅

If you have £40 to throw away give it a go, backlights between £15 and £30 otherwise pass on it.
